Summary: beware
Review: I saw that this unit has problems with the 3Disc changer. At the store, the display model broke in front of my eyes. The changer drawers would not open. We opened a new box and the drawers did not break, but they had a mind of their own. I seemed to look past this for the most part. I went home with a third unit that was also unopened. My unit seems to be ok so far. Fortunately I know the guy that I bought this from and he is letting me exchange it for the philips 785, now that I have read reviews that confirm that these models have EXTREMELY quirky changers. just be careful.

Summary: Cassette to cd recording
Review: Like the recorder except the tracking when going from a cassette to cd,sometime it track alright other it does not track at all, other times it random tracks. It defeats the purpose of tranferring my tapes to cd`s.

Summary: To Pioneer, or not to Pioneer...
Review: We ordered the unit direct from pioneer. They forgot to send item. We called and they shipped unit??? Didn't show. Called and they sent one. Oh, it didn't work. Called pioneer... No refunds! We were told to return product for exchange.
We were worried at this point.

Managed to contact Shelly Williams, Sr Parts Order Correspondent with pioneer at 1-800-421-1605. After being insulted, finally get Pioneer to agree they would refund our money with the condition product didn't work.

We had little luck with Pioneer so far and the unit won't even open the CD tray from moment one. We felt it in our best interest to contact the "Authorized Service Center" to verify failure.

The Service Center (also Pioneer dealer) found FOUR major and fatal flaws! Ever their own unit has a similar problem.

Now months after order, over three weeks after service center has been unable to receive a response from Pioneer. They asked us to try contacting Pioneer.

We finally get to Margaret 1-800-421-1640 x2285. She says she will work with service center personally to resolve problem.

Problem to big, costly or difficult to repair. Margaret calls me and now wants to have us pick-up unit from Service Center, pay shipping to return unit to Pioneer and they will refund money minus shipping and I am not sure about a restocking fee.

At this point I ask if they can produce a unit to my physical care, that will actually work. She said it would be easier to return our money(what will be left after multiple shipping charges, 120 miles of travel for two trips to the sercvice center, and not clear on a re-stocking charge).
Contact to public relations promissed to have the head of the service deartment contact us. No contact!

Still not useable, then or now. Now the kicker. A part of our work function, is to provide quality, big name, live entertainment to the masses of our visitors while helping our customers loose a load, not pick up yet another load.

A friendly thought for Pioneer. Is Pioneer the unit for you? If the can't or won't take care of us, or attempt a timely return to their Service Centers... you decide... you may have better luck!
