Summary: Overjoyed
Review: I bought this 2 weeks ago and have managed to scan all 350 of my slides which were created in 1976-1981. Was very impressed with the images that were captured. Was even able to resurect those slides in unshowable state (Nothing but black or slides that were shot so lite they were all orange). At the $... price I paid I made my money back after the first 75 conversions. Paperport works well (Could use some Fax software included in the package). Nothing seems to handle 48-bit except Photoshop (Elements doesn't appear to) So 24-bit scans are the default from Paperport. Am overjoyed at the results I have gotten (Slides, Negatives and Color full page/Black & white(with OCR)).

Summary: Waste of time and money
Review: I had the same problems as JW reported below. I tried to get it working for hours, and it will not work. Unfortunately, I have to work the same hours that their customer service is open so I cannot get help. This is probably an O.K. scanner if you can get it to work. But if you have problems, Customer service is only open regular business hours M-F and it is NOT a free call. I am returning the scanner and staying away from Visioneer.

Summary: Too Many Errors
Review: I tried for hours to set this scanner up. If Visioneer made this one-touch 9020 for exclusive use with Windows XP, then why are there so many errors when installing it? Check out Visioneer's support website for this product. It speaks for itself. If this doesn't work, try this; if that doesn't work, try something else. YIKES!! It may be easy to use once you get it set up but I never got that far. And, to add insult to injury, their tech support number is a long-distance call. Returned the 9020 and bought the new HP PSC 1210 all-in-one. I was scanning, copying, and printing literally within minutes. And, at $99, it is an incredible value.

Summary: What's Up with Visioneer Products
Review: I'm frustrated with Visioneer's lack of quality testing of their software installation. They bill themselves as easy to use and install. I just utilized their "tradeup" program since their older 7620 model does not operate with Windows XP or Windows 2000 (a travesty in and of itself). They gave me a 25% discount to trade up to the 9020. Just tried to install but it indicates a dll is missing. I've now spent an hour attempting to find and install the missing dll. A visit to their website is now rivaling Microsoft's in it's complexity troubleshooting--an only offers M-F support. This is unconscionable for a major supplier of scanners.

Summary: great scanner so far!
Review: I'm running Windows XP home and had no problem installing the scanner. Within 10 minutes of unpacking it I had everything up and running.

So far, the image scanning and text scanning work great. I haven't tried the scan/attach to e-mail function, and the scan/print function (which is supposed to act like a photocopy - create a B&W scan and send it to the printer)doesn't work well at all (but that may be a setting I can adjust.)

For at least basic scan functions, the Paperport software is easy to use. Though it would have been nice if the installation software had mentioned which installation folder would be the default home to the scans... I would have placed it in a different directory had I know in advance.

Since I bought this primarily for image scanning, and some text scanning... I'm very happy with it! I'll update my review if I run into any of the problems mentioned by the other reviewers but so far this is a great scanner for my system.

Summary: NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
Review: Manual is VERY poor for trouble shooting. Has a phone number, but at customers expense. Online help is NO help. Don't walk from this company, RUN...as fast as you can !!!

Summary: Great product for great price
Review: My old Visioneer 7600 Scanner bit the dust. I needed a replacement that worked with Windows XP, installed automatically (without drivers), scanned faster and offered higher resolution. Not only did the Visioneer 9020 meet those requirements, but it has the option to scan negatives and slides. Love that! I'm scanning photos like crazy without a problem. This is one of those rare "landscape" scanners that tucks under my printer stand nicely. Controls are easy to access. I don't use the Paperport software that comes with it, but it installed without a hitch. The scanner works beautifully with my existing MGI PhotoSuite software and my Adobe PhotoShop. Worth the money spent, especially with the free shipping offer. (Got the scanner in less than 48 hours via UPS Ground.)

Summary: very poor customer service
Review: The paperort software has errors. The tech support does not seem to know how to fix. They gave me steps to do assuring me this will correct. After several hours on the long distance call and following their steps it still has the same error message"cannot creaete link beacause link already used". I was promised a call from a higher lever tech-A week after the promise date and time I get an email. I did call on the date to see what was going on. This tech gave me the same steps as the first agent did. I have not received a reply to that email yet-3 days.
