Summary: Excellent photo printer
Review: Excellent quality - I researched all printers and bought this. It is fast and the pictures are great. few suggestions:

1. Call Canon to have them walk you thru install - apparently XP can pose a few issues as well as getting the calibration correct (We had try to do a few things I otherwise would have been stumped on). Give yourself about 30 min - 1 hour to do full install and test.
2. Buy the adapter - I did not realize it didn't come with the printer.
3. Buy the Canon printer paper (see recommended accessories) I tried using HP and other cheaper paper and they just don't come out. Order thru Amazon as it is by far the cheapest...

buy all this now so you can be set up and ready to go when you receive your printer & get the free shipping.

Summary: A Great Photo Printer
Review: I bought this printer to use with a Canon A50 5-megapixel camera. In a nutshell, it is easy to set up, easy to use, fast (4x6 print in about 30 seconds) and, most important, makes prints indistinguishable from film. Being new to digital photography, I can't tell you what a weird and wonderful feeling it is to have film quality prints pop out of a printer on your desk, but there it is. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Amazing picture quality
Review: I got this printer last night. Unpack, took out my old printer, install print head and software for less than an hour. I am not a handy man at all and I can do it. Picture quality is amazing. I show it to my wife and I can not believe the 4x6 is from a BJ printer. I will like to try some other printer paper to see the result. I also print out a copy of my hotmail email and it looks okay. So far so good.
I got this printer at a good price.

Summary: Love it, prints high quality pics FAST!
Review: We got this printer over a month ago and have been printing pics since. It's fast and the pics look super clear. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there is no slot for the flash card on the printer (HP has it), a minor inconvenience. Worth every penny we spent.

Summary: Lab Prints at Home
Review: I did my homework before purchasing this printer. Just about every review site and magazine listed a different printer as their "best of show". I finally took a chance and purchased the i950, and I couldn't be happier. I am continually impressed with the photos it produces. The photos look exactly like prints from the lab. I was amazed by the speed of the prints as well. It takes about a minute to print on the highest quality setting on photo paper. This printer has never smeared a print. Plus the added bonus of only having to replace the color that is empty saves tons of cash, especially if you print a lot of black and white documents. I would reccommend this printer to anyone who wants to be able to produce quick, high-quality prints at home. It is perfect for printing digital pics. Five stars and two thumbs up!!

Summary: Great economical, multipurpose printer.
Review: Up until recently I was using a Canon BJC-600e printer for all my printing needs for about the past 7 years. It was an economical printer and I put a lot of paper through the BJC-600e cheaply by using 3rd party ink. The BJC-600e used 4 low cost individual ink tanks. Depending on how much of a certain color was used in newsletters, one color or another would definitely get used up more than another. Only the empty ink tank would need to be replaced. From that past experience I am convinced that individual color ink tanks are the most economical way to go so I looked for a replacement. The Canon i950 is what I was looking for. It uses 6 individual ink tanks. Two of them (photo cyan and photo magenta) are to give photographic prints more realism.

My only difficulty so far with the i950 was with its initial setup. It took an extremely long time for the print head to become "primed" upon its initial out of the box use. I did deep cleaning many (over 20) times before the ink made its way from the cartridges through the print head and finally unto the page. This took so long (several hours) that I thought the printer was defective and was about to send it back for replacement. The manual does not mention this as being a problem. Now that the print head is primed, the printer works flawlessly.

Standard paper printing of documents is fast and they look great. Photos are excellent, near photo lab quality. I couldn't ask for more.

P.S. Don't forget to purchase a standard USB cable. A cable doesn't come with the printer.

Summary: Great printer!
Review: I finally purchased this printer from Amazon after reading many reviews/comparisons and I am happy to say I am very pleased. I had narrowed it down to the i950 and the HP 7550, but what sold me on the Canon were the individual ink tanks. So far, the only frustration was finding one to buy - the only place I could find it in Houston was Fry's and they were sold out - so I ordered from Amazon. It was very easy to set up and I immediately used up my sample photo paper trying out the borderless 4x6 option. They turned out fantastic. The software that came with it seems good too, though I have not had the chance to play too much. I would recommend this printer and am very satisfied with my choice.

Summary: Great Pictures Fast
Review: This is my first photo printer, and I love it. I was leery about buying a photo printer because I have never been impressed with the quality of prints that I have seen from other machines. While I don't think that the prints are quite as good as what I get from Ofoto, I still think they're great and suitable for framing. I also really enjoy being able to tinker with the picture and see the result right away. I also bought Photoshop Elements 2.0 - between the printer, Photoshop, and my Canon S400, I've got a great hobby and great pictures. I recommend all three.

Summary: Truly a great printer for photos
Review: I recently upgraded to the i950 from my year-old 500 series Canon. I thought the old one printed great photos (it did) but WOW, the i950 really is remarkable in terms of resolution, color accuracy, crispness, etc.

It also is extremely easy to set up. I recommend you use Canon Photo Paper Pro for "keepers" and Office Depot for everyday photos. I highly recommend the i950. Rarely has a product so exceeded my expectations.
