Summary: Great printer!!!!!...........and still Great!
Review: Pictures are just as good if not better than prints from photo lab. Have had no problems. Love It! amazon.com has the best price and free shipping too!

Had it for a couple of months now. Everyone I show the prints to can't believe its from my printer and they want to know what kind of printer I have. I've been using Jet Print Professional Photo Paper with real good results, maybe not quite as good as the Canon paper but still very good and much cheaper($5 for 40 8.5x11 sheets on sale). The Software that comes with the printer is very easy to use (Easy Print). From 8.5x 11 photo paper you can print a full page photo(8.5x11),or 2 half page photos(5.5x8.5),or 4 quarter page photos(4.25x5.5)or various smaller sizes. Prints borderless or border photos. Every photo on the page can be the same photo or each one can be a different photo.I use the quarter page borderless setting and 1/2 page borderless setting the most.Photos can be easily cropped right before printing. I Still love this Printer and I haven't bought any Ink yet.

Summary: Brilliant colour!
Review: A Canon (and Apple) printer fan, my husband purchased an HP deskjet. While it was sufficient, the colour was never very good for photos, so we decided to go for a new photo printer. For me, Canon was the only choice - we are thrilled with our purchase. The colour is brilliant and photos are sharp. It also handles regular paper very well, and produces good quality documents. This is certainly an excellent buy for someone who wants a decent printer at an affordable price.

Summary: Canon i850.. Dandy Printer
Review: The installation was easy as pie; the photo software, on the same cd-rom, called 'Easy-Photo Print' is just what the name implies. I just printed out a 4x6 on photo paper and it is super. There are various lay outs one can just click on and voila!...Also the printer is quiet. Believe me; if I can do it, anyone can!! Readying the printer for use was a little tricky, but I have a handy man around.

Summary: An Excellent Printer from Canon - i850
Review: CANON i850 is one of the best printers I 've ever purchased. The Photo print quality is Very Very Good. I 've printed some 8X11 photos on glossy photo paper and I was skeptic about the quality but they came out Very Good. The 4X6 and 5X7 pictures came out Excellent, I can't even tell that if they are from a printer or from a store. It does an excellent job with text and graphics as well. I love my new CANON i850 Printer!. I will recommend this printer as a VERY GOOD choice.

Summary: Prints Great in Mac OS X!
Review: This Canon printer works great in Mac OS X. I was using an HP Deskjet 812c prior to this. The HP drivers in OS X were just plain junk. Everytime I needed to print anything important, I would have to reboot in OS9 just so everything would actually print on the page. Now, I have this great Canon printer. It is exactly as advertised. The 4x6 borderless printing works just like they say in OS X. I like the fact that it has the 4 different printer cartridges. It will end up saving money in the long run. You could do a lot worse than this printer. For myself, I'll never buy another HP product.

Summary: Great printer great price
Review: I just recently purchased this printer from Amazon. I am very impressed. I use it almost exclusively to print photos from my digital camera. The out put is great, many people have oohed and aahed at the picture quality. It is speedy (much faster than my HP P1000), and I love the borderless prints in 4x6 and 5x7. Works great with Canon paper and also with Jetprint photo professional paper.

Summary: amazing printer
Review: This is hands down the best photo printer I have ever owned! I have several much more expensive HP printers and this one blows them all away. I was searching for a new photo printer because I was very unhappy with the photo quality of the HP's that I own. I bought this printer based on the feedback I read here because I too couldn't find it in the stores anywhere and I am so glad that I did. I could not be happier with it! It is extremely quiet, unbelievably fast and produces amazing pictures. Everyone that comes to my house and sees it printing are shocked by the quality and even more impressed when I tell them how cheap it was to purchase! I don't have one negative thing to say about this printer and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants an inexpensive, amazing all around printer!

Summary: Good text print, terrible photo prints
Review: First off, I believe I have a defective unit, or so I hope. The printer is fast and quiet, and does text printing as well as anything.

I tried a photo print with glossy paper, and it was terribly blotched. I tried a few different paper settings, and tried the manual control to cut back the intensity, and never got really satisfactory results.

I tried a CD cover that I produce the photo was actually OK, but the text was very heavy and blotched. I was able to cut the black back until it was acceptable, and the individual color control is a very nice feature. The intensity control is also nice, and a feature I always wanted with other printers. When trying the liner notes, the first attempt was not readable, and by cutting the intesity back significantly, I finally got usable text. This was a moderate gloss paper, not the same full gloss as the first print.

Now I read a number of reviews saying that you get the best results with Canon paper, but I am talking about unusable to unrecognizable results on paper that I have been using on my old Epson 740. To me, if it doesn't work at all with other papers, that is a design flaw.
About the paper settings; the selections start with plain paper, and that I understand. Past that are a number of choices that sound like various grades of Canon paper, but I don't know how they translate to the paper that I use. By the way, when you are printing on special template paper you don't have the option of buying a specific brand. By using a matte photo paper I could get somewhat acceptable sharpness, but the colors seemed off.

I am disappointed as I have had two HP's go bad mechanically in short order, and supplied the kids with Epson c-60s only to find they had constant ink problems, and you were forced to use only their cartridges. Oh to find a good condition clunky slow and accurate 740 Stylus again.

Summary: so pretty, so quiet...so lovely!
Review: after having the canon bjc6000 for three years, it was time to move on. i did my research, read reviews and priced out new color photo printers. i wouldn't buy one that didn't have individual ink tanks (it's just common sense, right?) and i did like the canon brand. however, i was more than blown away with the i850. i was so used to my bjc6000 (which was a great printer, in its time) that i wasn't prepared for how great the i850 was going to be.

it's so quiet! my 6000 was one noisy bugger. and it took FOREVER to print two 4X6 photos. this one cranks them out in about 30 seconds or less, it seems, and that's at the highest resolution setting. it prints great photos! better than what i get back from the walgreens.

the only word of caution i would offer is this: KNOW YOUR PRINTER SETTINGS, and don't be afraid to play around with them. paper choice and printer settings are very important. if you aren't using high resolution paper and you tell the printer you are, you will get ink-soaked prints and fuzzy text.

i DO think canon's brand of printer paper makes for better prints than say kodak, but it's barely noticable. also, DO NOT BUY GENERIC ink. i have ruined print heads in the past in attempts to save a few $. your colors will be off and generic inks (sadly) are no match for the canon brand. i learned my lesson on that one.

so yeah, no complaints! i love this printer! it's fast, quiet and easy to use! i would recommend it to anyone who wants to print high quality photos from home.
