Summary: works well when it does work
Review: I bought this for an 8 hour drive. needless to say that you NEED to read the instructions before burning cd's. Don't use CDRWs, or 80min CDRs if you use 80min CDRWs you will have the "perma-skip" result. i also wish it had recall or remain. i wish i could find a auto adapter for the power. the little hole is just too small. i suppose raio shack may have one, but hay, shouldn't target? NO! anyway once you, make the needed changes, this is pretty good.

Summary: False Advertising
Review: I recieved the Virgin Pulse Personal CD Player with MP3/WMA Playback as a gift, since all of my music files are WMAs. I took one of my favorite playlists and burned it onto a CD. When I tried to play the CD on the Virgin Pulse player, less than 1/4 of the songs actually played. I of course did not try to play MP3s since I would not need to know if they worked or not. Regular CDs worked well, though.

Other Pros and Cons:
Pros
- The player looks very sleek
- The sound is fairly good (it was good enough for me)
- The remote was useful when I had the cd player in my bag, and I didn't want to take it out to skip songs, pause, etc.
- As far as I could tell, the player did not skip when I drove over bumps, etc.
- I loved the way the player had two audio jacks, so I was able to share my music without having to give up my earbuds.

Cons
- The remote has a place to put the headphone jack. It is very unstable, so I would suggest putting the headphone jack in the player itself, not the remote.
- As I said before, the player only actually played 1/4 of my WMA songs from a list of over 300.
- Looking for songs on the screen was quite confusing.
- There is no volume control on the remote.

If you would like to play WMAs, then don't buy this player. I'm not so sure about the MP3 aspect of the Virgin Pulse MP3/WMA player. If you could care less about MP3s and WMAs, Virgin has two other models that are CD only.

Summary: I was really happy with it...
Review: I was really happy with mine. All of the other reviews were bad, but I had NO problem with mine, and it plays everything just fine. The only bad thing is the earphone things they give you with it.. I'd recommend getting a nice pair of headphones to use with it.. But I just love it!

Summary: Underwhelming...
Review: The VP04 looks nicer than your average portable CD player, but it's a bit larger and bulkier than it should be. The biggest problems I have with this model are the skipping and sound quality. The skips are random and don't occur on the same tracks or CDs. They occur with standard audio as well as MP3 files -- all this while I'm sitting still. The various EQ settings are a joke. The remote really should have a hold switch and a volume control. The only true redeeming quality is the backlit display, which is hard to find on a portable CD player at any price. In any case, I returned the VP04 and spent an extra ten bucks on a comparable Sony, which is much better and it does NOT skip, even when I play the same CDs.

Summary: AMAZING!
Review: Time after time I read about consumers not being able to get MP3/WMA to play. All I have to say to you is, LEARN HOW TO BURN MUSIC.

This player is great, it's everything I could have asked for, and more. As a musician, I pay CLOSE attention to sound quality, and play music at generally undesirable volumes - VERY LOUD. The Virgin Pulse player lets me play songs at levels of volume I enjoy, while providing sharp sound quality. I ntoed someone else said the sound quality was poor. Ever heard of bitrate? Always use 192 Stop using Kazaa and get REAL MP3 files.

I lvoe the backlit interface, especially since I do most of my listening in the dark. Immediately after purchasing this, I realized that a small $20 adapter from Radio Shack was necesary, however. Why? I need to listen to this ALL THE TIME, so batteries might get eaten up quite fast.

On that subject, Virgin says the battery life should be around 13 hours. What?! Mine have worked, with non-stop play for 24+ hours, atleast. I also bought the cheapest batteries available.

The remote is a nice feature, and I found it doubles well as an extension for the headphones. I often wear very baggy shorts with large pockets towards my ankles. Putting a normal CD player in there and trying to reach the headphones across my 6'4" body was nearly impossibly and created incredible strain. Now, with these, I simply connect the remote to my upper right pocket, and use the ehadphones from there.

I walk a lot too, and as I said, the cd player is in my bottom pocket, so it sways and egts jolted HEAVILY. I have never once experienced any skipping, although sometimes I find the hold feature is necessary because the buttons get pressed easily.

Truly one of the best purchases I ever made, and I got a lot for my money.

Summary: This is so good!!
Review: WOW! This is the best peice of technology I have ever purchased. It works great for me. I have a LOT of MP3s, and instead of deal with a bulky 128MB mp3 player, I took a chance and got this.

WOW! I can put 800MB of MP3s on to whatever CD I want, and share the music with my friends because of the two head phone jacks. The player looks so stream lined and perfect, and it sounds GREAT.

The ear buds pretty much block out all other noise you'd hear normally. It amplifies the songs to a very nice volume. I'm a musician, and I listen to music as loud as I can stand it, and the volume on this player is PERFECT.

Everything about this is perfect. It's a steal at $50 or whatever they are asking. I'd pay $250 for this, it is seriously worth it.

I use this more than my normal house system now and purchased the power supply recently. It is so amazing to put 7CDs on one and play to my hearts content on this great player. If you like music (who doesn't), this player is for you. The Virgin Pulse is honestly one of the best purchases I have ever made in my life.

GET THIS!
