Summary: Get what you pay for
Review: A good stereo, but you get what you pay for. Cheap stereos won't give you high-end sound. The CD's load at an awkward angle, and also take a long time to load. Overall, it's not that bad, but not the best system to buy if you're looking for quality.

Review: After all these negative comments the message is pretty clear.

I bought this because I thought it looked nice, and because it had the front inputs to connect a computer or mp3 player to. But it lacks (a lot) in terms of sound quality. There is no Bass!

Perhaps buying a subwoofer for it (it has a separate woofer output on the back) could help it. But likely not. I am right now testing the same CD on this unit and on a portable Philips CD player, listening both alternately using the *same* pair of earphones. For some reason, even on the earphone the bass and overall sound quality of the CD sounds worse on this Fisher sound system.

Plus, another irritating glitch: when moving to the next or previous track on the CD, the Fisher ignores the first 2 seconds or so of the track. In most songs it can't be noticed, but you generally miss the first beats or the initial phrase being spoken, if the song starts with a phrase before the music. If you let it run through the entire CD without touching the change track buttons the 2 initial secs are not lost, though (except on the first track).

All in all this sound system deserves a place on the bargain bin. If I find a way to return it I certainly will. Steer clear from it!

Summary: Fisher disappointment
Review: after recieving the Fisher SLIM-1500 the first thing I noticed was how "plasticy" the product is ,overall the system seems to be very weakly made , and I'm worried the if I turn the volume dial too fast it may in fact just come loose. If your looking for decent quality sound steer clear of this system , as the audio quality is something to be desired , even taking into consideration the slim design I'm sure it can definatly be improved apon.

Summary: Executive Stereo (Maybe for their companie's Executives...)
Review: Considering this radio comes in a box marked "Executive Microsystem" you might expect a little quality. Well, your expectations will not be met...they won't even come close to the poor performance and awful look of this radio. The pictures here don't let you see just how "China made" this plastic, molded, seems everywhere stereo is really composed of.

I would be estatic if all of Fishers Executives actually had to use this on THEIR desks, I think they would quickly change the design and more so the sound production.

I have returned this item and will never by from Fisher again.

Summary: Horrendously poor product
Review: Don't waste your money on this so-called stereo system. The sound is horrendous, even for background music. It only looks nice. It sounds like a tin box. The sound on my laptop computer is far superior to this sound system. The only thing I use this product for is listening to AM radio such as news, and the clock feature. It takes too long for the stereo to read a CD when it is put in. Changing CD's requires you to touch the readable surface of the disc. This one's heading for the bargain table at my next garage sale.

Summary: Not bad for what it is.
Review: First off, I used this unit in place of a set of amplified PC speakers... for that it works great... MP3s and Cds play just fine. The unit has a decent executive look to it and looks fine on my desk at work. For $90 you can't really complain. One hitch, it does pick up ambient RF noise (IE cell phones and such sound like pops from the speakers occaisionally) but I was able
to live with it (and it could be problems in my building anyway).

For those of you who are lamenting about the lack of Bose or B&O quality from this little thing, quit crying... Fisher hasn't made audiophile-quality stuff for years. What do you want from a $90 unit ? This thing was perfectly fine, and cheap. The LINE inputs are really a value-added for me.

Summary: Fisher bean counters need to be fired!
Review: Fisher has let their reputation fall into the can again. After regaining their reputation the decision to have this unit, which is great in concept, be manufactured in China because some bean counters back in Fisher wanted to sacrifice quality for a profit is a travesty. I had purchase two of these units from another retailer and returned both. The unit would not play CD's that played fine in other units. If the president of Fisher knowingly allowed this unit to be marketed the stockholders should show him or her the door. With all the negative reviews on this unit don't they get the picture or don't they care myself and others will not purchase another Fisher product again. It's ashame they and others are sacrificing quality for a buck by sourcing from China that not only pays their workers a terrible wage but also has a poor quality track record. If you don't get serious about your quality soon Fisher I'll have to say my goodbyes! And to Amazon, shame on you for not giving an honest review of this product. I would have hoped your buyers would have been a little more diligent in picking this product for you to market!

Summary: Looks yes, plastick YES; and performance....uhhh, no.
Review: I bought my wife one of these for her small art framing shop. The look seemed appropriate -- she wanted to play a bit of background music while she worked without taking up too much space.

When you take this out of the box, you notice, plastic, plastic, and lots of it. The large volume knob rotates unevenly, and the switch gear and CD loading mechanism have a cheesy quality. After a couple of days of use, the CD player itself developed a bit of a squeaking sound as the CD rotated, and one speaker was clearly having trouble keeping up with even a little Phil Collins. (Hmmm, how hard could THAT be?)

My wife normally loves any gift, but after a few days she said "Honey, would mind terribly if we returned that stereo you bought me". I was glad she asked, and off it went. In our opinion, for the same cost you are much better off with a high quality boombox (less looks, more sound and reliability), or a basic function CD, amp, and a couple of speakers (as is now playing in her shop.)

Summary: Don't waste your money!
Review: I bought this item form my daughter for Christmas last year because she thought it looked cool. That's about all it had going for it. The tuner has completely gone out already--we can't get reception anywhere--even outside. I tried buying a new antenna for it and it still won't work. I would definitely steer clear of this item and I think I will stay away from Fisher products in the future.
