Summary: Great value, awesome design
Review: ....

Anyhoo...

I use it in my home office where I needed it to be small, fit besides my computer (whose audio out goes right to the AUX input) and plug in my valued JBL Control 1 monitors for audio, video and multimedia authoring.

The speakers that came with it are a bit flimsy and tinny sounding (I expected that, since I was mostly looking for the amp/tuner/cd player component), but I use an Electrohome two way speaker switch box and use these for the bedroom, where the JVC FS-SD5 doubles as an incredibly sweet sounding clock radio/CD player.

Thing is, burn your morning compilations with a CD burner, and slip it in the CD player for instant Sunday morning bliss... But I digress...

;)

Just powerful enough for home office use, good broadcasting from any source (CD to FM to internet streaming such as BBC radio 3) VERY elegant... I mean... AWESOME (goes well with an Apple PowerBook G4). and fascinates the bejeesus out of my cat everytime the glass door slides open.

Great buy for great sound repro (with headphones it's excellent) not so great for those wall thumping parties, lacks power. But hey, these days are long gone... well, sorta...

Enjoy!

Summary: OK, but I wouldn't buy it again
Review: Bought this product almost 2 years ago. It's a very stylish system with good sound quality at low to medium volumes. The sound quality suffers noticably at high volumes. I also have a problem with a lot of CD's skipping on this system that don't skip when played anywhere else. I've noticed that any CD played in this system will start to skip after a month or so of regular use.

Summary: Awsome design
Review: I bought this system pretty much only based on its design - very Philip Starck - very cool - a conversation piece. And i do not regret it a bit, though i have to say its a little underpowered as far as the 19 watts are concerned, but otherwise sounds great and has great features.

Summary: Nice sound and elegant design, but will it last?
Review: I recently bought two systems for my children's rooms. The set is pleasant to hear as well as to look at. The remote control system is complete -- it must since few controllable functions are on the set itself. We are very pleased with the purchase (not from Amazon.com -- I could not wait for the back order). But will this set last? The reason for my concern is that the design is overly complicated, namely the sliding glass door that cover most of the functions and the CD player. The glass door is powered and does not have manual override. To load a CD, the door would first retrack backward, then lift up. It is nice to look at, but I wonder what kind of meantime between failure would this design would have? If the door's motor and lift mechanism malfunction, you will not be able to play CD and access to the functions under the glass door. Also you would need quite a bit of top clearance when the glass door opens; it will not fit conveniently on a bookshelf. I enjoy the sets we bought, but I wish I would weigh the design a bit more carefully.

Summary: A Sweet Little System!
Review: My husband and I bought this system to replace a huge 10 yr. old component system that has damaged speakers and a worn out CD player. This little system's elegant style caught my husband's eye. The volume was cranked up in the store and the clarity of the music was so good we took another look at this system and bought it. At home, the system enhanced the look of our living room's entertainment center. The sound is clear and the bass is ok, but it could use the help of a subwoofer to boost the lower bass. The owner's manual is easy to read, the remote is fairly straightforward and soon I had the radio set to our favorite FM stations. Playing CD's on it is cool, because the remote or a button on the set itself opens the cover. When the system is off, the cover closes over the buttons so that no one can mess with them.

There is so much more that this system has. You can hook up an external source such as a CD-RW and record CD's digitally. You can mute the sound if you need to and tone down the bright blue backlight. The radio has 30 presets and you can program the system to play random CD tracks or a set program, 20 in all. There is also a clock and a sleep timer in this system.

In all, a sweet system with a really cool look. Someday, we will unpack our old 125 watts-per-channel component system, buy new speakers and a CD player. At that time, this system will go into another room. For now, we are extremely pleased with this bookshelf system.

Summary: Very nice little system
Review: This compact system looks great and sounds very good. We bought it for our kitchen. Sound quality wasn't the most important factor, and frankly, we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised with the result. FM reception is very important to us, as we often listen to public radio while cooking. The digital tuner works very well, and even the cheap FM attenna supplied with the unit does a pretty good job. The unit has a 75ohm coax FM attenna connector so we plan to upgrade the attenna to improve reception of our favorite station. The CD player works well, and the remote control is nice. We're very happy with this nicely designed elegant little system.

Summary: Novelty Wears Off
Review: This player is very sleek, modern, and entertaining to watch with its cool blue light and sliding glass door. The sound quality is also impressive. One reviewer mentioned that his cat enjoyed it--and after a while I found it was not good for much more than amusing pets. As someone else said, it made perfectly good CD's skip, that did not skip on any other player. If you take a look into the player, you'll see the CD wobbling from side to side as it spins--not good news. If you listen carefully, you'll notice that each song skips at the same part(s) every time you pop in the disc. That's because the bright, shiny, machine has scratched your CD.
My advice:
Don't buy this because you won't be able to enjoy your CD's on it, or ever again, as it will damage them.
If you own it, lock up your CD's until you get this deceptively cute music-eating monster out of your house.

Summary: An excellent product!
Review: This system almost sounds as good as it is good-looking! The design of this product will uplift the ambience of any room, and while you can't expect really deep bass or high-end high frequency reproduction, it still sounds amazingly good. The bass goes deep, considering the size of thespeakers and the midrange is open and has a lots of detail. Attaching a good subwoofer would undoubtedly help with the bass. Absolutely worth the money!

Review: With the styling, size and quality you can place this system anywhere in your house or office and it will do all that you need it to. I put it in my living room and hooked it up to my tv and get a perfect sound booster for when I watch my movies. It is always a converstaion piece for the blue backlighting and moving glass top. Beware, it looks small but it packs a serious punch!
