Summary: Can words describe it?
Review: I recently purchased this phone and it was EXCELLENT! It's the only phone that I could ever buy.! Pros:
Full-color screen
External screen (which shows who's calling and reminder of appointments and more)
Windows Media Player
Internet Explorer (although it can't display pages that have frames - use google which has an on-the-fly translation at http://www.google.com/wml/)
External Speaker for playing music in Windows Media Player
Comes with everything you need to connect it to your computer
Since it is windows-based you can transfer files to and from your phone (just like a simple USB storage device)
VERY cool looking
MSN Messenger
Microsoft Outlook (to keep all you appointments together - also syncs with your computer)
SD Card Expansion Slot Cons:
External Speaker cannot be used as a speakerphone - only for playing music (unless I'm mistaken - but it never worked for me).

Summary: It's only been a couple of days...
Review: but so far I like the functionality of this phone. Being able to play my music files was the biggest reason why I bought the phone. I wanted something compact and didn't want to carry my cell phone and an mp3 player in my purse. The headphones are not much to be desired although the sound is excellent. I can't even turn the volume all the way up on this thing! The speakerphone function is great too, not that great sound but not that bad for a small device. I may purchase Sony's foldable speakers for travel. You do have to install the 3rd party software for the Caller ID feature. That's great except for the fact that once it's installed and you run the program, it can get stuck in the program and you have to power cycle the phone to get out of it. The other issue is ATT's GSM service. It is still very new. Hopefully, if the talks about ATT and Cingular merging their networks are really true, the coverage will be much, much better. I'd prefer it if this phone had a stylus as an alternative to using the keys and BlueTooth capabilities would make this phone just perfect, at least in my opinion. Rumor has it that the MPx220 and maybe an MPx300 are already being designed and tested, so maybe they will have those enhancements. But it may not be on ATT's network. Thank goodness for Local Number Portability! And yes, the external LCD has caller ID. I am not sure about the other complaint I've been hearing regarding the option to have the phone set in "vibrate + ringer". I still have to play with it!

Summary: This Phone is Almost Obsolete
Review: The phone suffers from Microsoft's "Smartphone 2000" moble OS: it's sluggish, eats memory, and has a menu screen-set that is extremely confusing. It will not be upgraded to the 2003 OS. It will not accept the 850 band upgrade that AT&T is working on to provide better reception in the key markets. In six months this phone will be obsolete -- that's why prices are dropping -- AT&T is trying to dump its inventory on unsuspecting customers.

Summary: DO NOT USE THIS PHONE WITH ATT GSM
Review: The phone works and the sync to outlook is nice but the ATT GSM network is a disaster even in a major metropolitan area like San Francisco. And ATT's response to my inquiries about improvements to GSM were basically met with a shrug. And since Cingular has improved their coverage and have a stronger signal, I can't even use my phone at all without paying roaming charges. Even in my home territory. Unbelieveable! And ATT's resolution specialists are anything but -- I'm locked into a contract so they said too bad. Interesting approach to customer service....

Summary: I Love my Phone!!
Review: I love love love this phone! But I'll tell you the bad news first: I switched to ATT from sprint for this phone and have no regrets. Yes, the number switching took a bit of hassle and online waiting and numerous calls to double and triple check that the process had been started. The att service is comperable to sprint I'm in New York and the ATT rep at the store in Times Square rolled his eyes and sighed when I brought the phone to him for the SIN change he said that the phone doesnt get good service in the city-- but I haven't had a problem yet. I also have not figured out how to send email from my pop3 server (I can receive just fine). Those problems are the only reason this phone didnt get 5 stars from me. Now for the good news! The phone syncs with outlook VERY easily!!! That meant that my entire phonebook was entered into the phone in a matter of seconds and my calendar is updated daily as I charge the phone. If only I could have synced it with my old phone (a kyocera that had a broken display so I cant even see the numbers to transfer them). You can even pull notes and task lists from outlook into the phone. that makes it easy to make a to do list, and take it on the road. I can check my email anytime from any of my pop3 accounts. Caller ID problem is this: Caller's phone number is sometimes displayed instead of the callers name, even if the caller is in your phone book. If you associate phone numbers with people anyway, its not a problem. the display is GREAT!!!! everyone wants to see it when you pull the phone out. the calendar is FANTASTIC -- and no, you dont have to have mmode to use the outlook features. You dont even have to have service. I can look at my calendar on the train. I dont use the mp3 player or most of the other features but with the rebates, this phone was the greatest buy! I'm very happy with it.

Summary: technology fails in practice
Review: I was entranced by the technology and foolishly purchased the phone. Too many gizmos that do not work in practice, too cumbersome to utilize in the real world, too difficult to execute its commands. It will not even synch with daylight savings. NO customer support from either ATT or Motorola. While I hate to waste the money it is going to the trash heap.

Summary: Great idea for a phone--if only it worked!
Review: After what I thought was thorough research, I purchased the Motorolla MPX200 smartphone with the AT&T GSM service. I live in the Portland OR metro area and the signal strength on this unit is a joke. Everytime I attempt to call someone, I either have no signal or I have to play the "cell yell" game. It's ironic that AT&T has launched their new ad campagin for the GSM America service which shows a user of another wireless service with his signal bars over his head. It's ironic because I'm that guy and I'm with AT&T GSM! The PDA features of the phone are cool but sometimes sluggish and battery life is poor 1+ day of standby time. As tempting as it looks, do not fall for this phone's good looks and promises of an all in one device. It's not worth it.

Summary: Phone/ATT Service are Terrible!
Review: Purchased 2 phones for my wife and I at Christmas. I've had to return mine twice because the phone "just died". Error messages are constant when trying to place a call. The phone does not work anywhere! There is "No Service" sometimes in the middle of downtown Chicago! ATT just doesn't care anymore - they have NO customer service aptitude and Motorola seems to feel the same way - too bad, you bought it - you have to live with it. It's cute - but that's all I can say about it!
