Summary: Sony Ericsson T637
Review: After a great deal of research of cellular service and phones available in my area,(Houston, TX) I chose Cingular and purchased the package from Amazon. I got the S-E T637 because of the Bluetooth and the great deal offered by Amazon. Each of the companies has fulfilled its obligation in a timely manner without exception. Prior to going with Cingular I was with T-Mobile for a couple of years, and Sprint for a couple of months. I changed from T-Mobile because my wife uses Sprint as do our grown children, and we wanted to have the free cell to cell option. Big mistake on my part because even though T-Mobile was generally "ok" service-wise, Sprint is a total disaster. I travel all over the city with my work and need good coverage. Even after replacing my phone Sprint coverage was terrible. It did not work in any building I went into including my office and has dead zones the size of Rhode Island within the city. Sprint Customer Dis-Service suggested I use analog roam in those areas. I also got the privilege of paying them $150.00 to break my contract even though...never mind.

Before I even got my new Cingular phone, I was notified by email of my new number, and got a big welcome brochure from Cingular that explained lots of things about their service and what my bills would look like. I really like the T637 phone; I now have service in places I never had before, and the Motorola HS 810 Bluetooth headset is the perfect bluetooth accessory.

If I could change anything, it would be to move the internet button someplace where it isn't quite so easy to accidently activate. The camera is the quality of a kid's toy, but I didn't want it anyway. Also the voice recognition isn't quite as good as that on Motorola phones I have used, but the ability to selectively port my PDA address book entries to the phone and to have three phone numbers for each entry overcome, what are for me, minor short-comings of the phone. I did not think I would like the phone's default setting to vibrate and ring, but the vibrator starts first and then the ringer volume starts low and gets louder, so when I carry the phone on my belt or in a shirt pocket, I can usually answer it before the ringer disturbs anyone nearby. Turns out I like that feature a lot. After three months I am very satisfied with Cingular, the T637 phone, and Amazon's consistently high level quality, service and low prices.

Summary: Great phone...but not for everyone.
Review: First of all, let me say this is a great phone. I will note a few important things:

1. It is a smaaal phone. The buttons are small. If you have a large hand or fingers, its going to be hard to grasp the phone properly. I have average hands and it was hard for me!

2. No Speakerphone...this is a huge downside.

3. There is an online button 'conveniently' accessable which can be mistakenly pressed and you'll never know you went online and you were being charged.

4. Camera sucks. It is a VERY BASIC one,... you have to be standing within 2 feet of the subject to get a recognizable picture.

Pros:
1. Crisp, Large display
2. Sleek looking
3. Lot of great personalization tools within the phone
4. Bluetooth
5. Better reception than most phones

Summary: Get functionality and more with the T637
Review: For the past three days, I spent a fairly good amount of time scouring the internet; researching cell phones. It was an arduous process. Painful really. Save yourself some time and decide three things you're looking for in a cell phone. This seriously helps get rid of half or at least a third of your options. Me?...I was looking for the following: ONE, a phone compatible with mac's isync. TWO, bluetooth. And THREE, great battery life. Bottom line, I got all three plus a lot more with this bad boy. You should know that despite two of the negative reviews posted here on Amazon, the T637 has scored extremely high with CNET, About.com, and many other tech reviewers. It scores high not just because of it's cool camera, bluetooth and mac compatibility, but also because of it's simple functionality. This is a great phone. Check it out for yourself.

Summary: good, but with speakerphone and EDGE support are better
Review: get this phone unlocked, and use on T-Mobile
reception on 1900 is excellent, comaprable with original n-gage
voice is good, both from phone itself and bt headset
bluetooth is reliable, no problem with Dell Axim like nokia 6820
but the GPRS setting has some problem, that you may have headache if you have more than one GPRS APN, it don't have option to let you choose APN
the ringtone is okay, simply transfer some from computer through bluetooth (supports .mid), even I put t-jingle on it
the phone supports class 8 GPRS, which you can get the fastest possible speed when using as modem, achieving 56k like speed
another downside is the phone don't have speakerphone, which is available for most of nokia and moto phones, with EDGE support will be a big plus
LCD is very good both indoors and outdoors, but the white is not even if you look at it sideways

this phone is highly recommended for ATT, Cingular, and T-Mobile users

Summary: The most stupid phone ever made
Review: I am wondering why there is no rating of 0 star or even negative stars, sony errison desn't even deserve the 1 star I chose.

This riduculosly stupid phone has one big button and a so-called "Joystick", both just need one single touch for you to get into the "M-mode", and get charged by every bit of data transferred to your phone. And there is absolutely no way to deactiviate it, even if you spend more than two hours to just get the unprofessional AT&T or Cingular customer service to deactivate this stupid service on their end.

Another stupid thing is that they send me a software CD which is totally crap. There is nothing in the package talking about the CD, but I just thought why wouldn't have a try. The stupid hand-made-like software just can never be succefully installed, and what is worse is that you can no longer uninstall it either.

Summary: SE gives us something good!
Review: I just got this phone from my friend and I must say that I was first skeptical about the phone and how it would perform against my Motorola v551 but I must say it's a great performer. I tested out the internal antenna of the phone and I think that the reception on this is superior than that of the v551. In areas where my old phone had minimial signal, I had 3 bars. The speaker phone sounds good and the battery life of this phone kicks major butt. The only disappointment that you might have is that there is no holster for these "candy bar" type phones. You basically are left out and if you're not careful you will scratch the screen like I did. My keys were in the same pocket and I forgot about the delicate display. I will be buying PDA clear covers for the screen soon. I learned my lesson the hard way. As for the camera, it's pretty fuzzy and I don't like it. The bluetooth syncs up with my computer fine and works wonders when combined with the right headset. I've gotten no drop calls or anything but sometimes the buttons can me small for big fingers. Get this phone...it'll be worth it!

Summary: Good phone, Great Service, so-so camera quality
Review: I just purchased this phone when I switched from MetroPCS to Cingular's family share plan. This is the only phone that caught my attention besides the Semiens s66 or whatever. I hate flip phones personally and it seems that everyone in america has one. I saw this phone online and immediately wanted one. When I saw it in person it was a lot smaller than I expected it to be, but still a faily nice size. I love the liquid black color and the clear buttons. It looks a lot better them my Nokia 3586 and feels like its built a little better. The menus are done very well and the screen is bright and colorful. The sound on this phone is also very good and the included ringtones do not sound like something from a 1980's arcade game. The main reason I bought this phone was for the bluetooth technology that works in my Acura TL.

My only two complaints are the poor graphic quality of the camera phone and the sometimes hard to use joystick. I didn't buy this phone for the camera, but it is a pretty cool feature nontheless. I took snapshots of things around me, and found that the graphic quality is at most average. You can take a picture of someone (wife, girlfriend etc.) and put them in your address book, so everytime they call, their picture will come up. I tried that, and was not very impressed with the picture quality. Also when that person calls, the picture you have stored for that person has the top of it cut off. I guess its good for face shots only, but not full body shots. Also the small joystick in the middle of the phone can be very hard to use and frustrating. You have to be very deliberate in moving it around and pressing it down or you will end up doing something in the phone that you did not want to do. If you want to press "enter", you have to really press down on the joystick or the cursor will move up or down instead. This is very apparant when playing the included mini golf game, many times I have thought I pressed down on the joystick, but it did not register and the power bar kept going up and up. Thankfully you can also use the button next to the joystick to press "enter", but that that can be cumbersome and counterintuitive.

Overall its the coolest phone I have had in looks and functionality. I suggest getting a screen protector for it, because it can get scratched very easily.

MetroPCS constantly dropped calls, and I was lucky if I got even one bar while sitting at my 2nd floor desk at work and forget about having any signal in an elevator. I have only had Cingular for a few days, but their service is very good in comparison; I usually get full bar strength, and even get 3 bars in an elevator.

Cingular is recommended as well as the phone if you hate flip phones and are not to concerned about camera phone picture quality.

Summary: Amazon/Cingular svc
Review: I spent over 2 hours researching a plan and phone with amazon, went through their order process which is already a pain for cell service (forms do not remember all data if there is an error! C'mon, I get better service from mom and pop web sites!) and then this morning get a vague email that Cingular needs more information and my order has been cancelled. I've been a heavy user of Amazon for 6 years but I doubt I will ever try to get cell service from them again because the order process and site navigation is horrible. I am really surprised amazon would maintain this poor level of service.

Summary: Cingular service not sold in my area by Amazon.com
Review: I was trying to order Cingular Cellphone service from amazon.com. When I gave my zip code, it says the service is not available in my area. I called customer service and they told me to give some big city nearby. I gave Boston and it says service is available. I started placing my order and on credit check form it complained about the zip code being different from the service area. I called customer service again and this time I got the answer that if it is not available in my zip code I can not place the order. I tried few near by cities which are adjacent town and it says service is available. I was really confused about it. How do amazon.com really decides to skip some towns while providing service.

I'm frustrated with this experience and miscommunication from the customer serivce.

Summary: Can't beat the "cool" factor...
Review: I've had a lot of phones, and I prefer Motorola phones, but I also needed Bluetooth, and the V600 was just too expensive for me. But this phone is fantastic! The screen is vibrant, the sounds quality if great and the features are SO cool! I found this open source software, float's Mobile Agent (search Google), that allows the user to connect with the phone through the bluetooth connection and do all kinds of things with the phone, like assign photos and rings to contacts, upload images, audio, themes, etc.. It's a gadget geek's dream come true... Highly recommended.
