Summary: Amazon is great.. phone is great, just say away from AT&T
Review: Although I didn't receive my phone free with plan (I paid cash) due to the fact I'm on the GoPhone network, I feel it was worth every penny I paid for this phone. I went into the ATT store looking for a phone which had polyphonic ringtones and a color screen. I don't ask for much, huh? I found this phone and have had it since Febuary now.

My favorite features on the phone will include the polyphonic ringtones, the games available for download (I have 6 now), and of course the loudspeaker. The bad news, the headseat is very hard to get into the slot and I think I must have messed something up while popping it in because the slot no longer works. Therefore I had a regular phone or loudspeaker left to use.

The covers are interchangeable. I have a whole slew which I've bought off an online auction site. They're very easy to pop on. The keypad is small, but workable. I have no problem sending text messages and email.

mMode works great if you're into that. I haven't had a problem with slowed access or anything. It also has a built in alarm clock, calendar, phone book for all your friends to be in there, etc.. I do not use the IM feature because it's expensive but you can log on to AOL or Yahoo and use the feature through there a lot cheaper.

Overall, great phone! Easy to use, service comptabible. Bad news, it's so small that it can get lost very easily. If you turn the ringer off and lose it, you're in trouble, LOL

Summary: Poor Reception - Harsh Keys - Dead Bug
Review: AT&T is the only cell phone provider that will give you 30 days to try out their service. I tried. I cancelled.

After some research, I picked the Nokia 3100. This phone is exactly what I wanted; it is a small tri-mode GSM world phone. It will operate on most GSM frequencies, allowing you to roam in Europe and across the world without difficulty.

Signal and reception was bad, especially in wooded areas or in buildings. Parking garage? Forget it. I found dead spots a plenty in the northern Houston metropolitan area. Which is curious, since AT&T TDMA service used to be rock solid.

I replaced the 3100 with a Nokia 3595, and haven't had any of the reception problems since.

Summary: Poor Reception - Harsh Keys - Dead Bug
Review: Basic concurrence with previous reviews of poor reception. We got the family plan - wife and I both got different phones. I wanted small. She got flip. I get all but no reception. She will stand next to me and get excellent reception. The buttons are difficult to use. I am constantly turning off a call when I simply want to push a button. For example, the "End Call" button and the turn on the walkie-talkie type feature - are the exact same button. During call set up, "End Call" cuts off the call. Once set up is complete, you can use that button to turn on the speaker. But it takes about two rings? So guess how many times I have cut off a call while it was ringing. Why is there no way to turn on the loud speaker while dialing (as in, while standing in a noisy place). Oh, and the ear bug is already broke. I like Nokia (had one before). I like how small it is. But this thing seems like a Beta model.

Summary: Next Generation Services not up to par...
Review: First - DON'T MIGRATE OVER TO AT&T'S NEXT GENERATION SERVICES UNTIL THEY GET THE BUGS OUT OF IT!
Second - I upgraded to this phone because of the international capabilities (which I haven't tried), and was promised better reception through AT&T's Next Generation services. Well my older Nokia 3500 had MUCH better reception, I never had dropped calls, and I got a good signal everywhere! This phone is crap for signal strength. Forget walking around while you talk, because you'll lose your call if you leave the room! I have to sit on my porch outside half the time to get good reception! FUN! The sad thing is AT&T throws all these minutes at you to change to their next generation services and that's nice, if you didn't have to call people 3 times to finish a conversation. When I called and complained they said that "Yes, the service might not be running as well as it should, but you can go on the internet and do text messaging..." Well great, but it's a G-D phone, I want it to make PHONE calls with, not chat, or even get email. I've got this little device on my desk called a COMPUTER that is a lot easier to type on. So stay away from this disapointing phone and this lousy service that really shouldn't be sold to people until it's ready. I'm going back to my old Nokia 3500 series digtial phone, and my old plan until my contract is up, and then I'm finding a different carrier!

The only nice thing I can say about this phone is that it has a nice headset that comes with it. But geez! I could buy one at target with less hassle than this whole things been!

Summary: Poor Reception in San Francisco, CA
Review: I have a AT&T Family Plan with my wife. I have the Nokia 3100 while she has the Nokia 3595. In the same locations, the 3100 would lose the network connection while my wife's phone would still get 1-2 signal bars. That sucks! The 3100 constantly loses reception, especially indoors. My wife's 3595 in the same locations manages to maintain a signal. Disappointing b/c I like the features of the 3100 alot.

I frequently have to manually choose my network connection because my signal bar is at zero. It's weird, even in my house where I get a full signal bar, this phone if I put it in certain corners and stand in front of it, the signal with AT&T gets lost. Like I said above, my wife's Nokia 3595 never loses its connection to the network.

So I conclude that the 3100's reception sucks or I got a defective model.
