Summary: over rated but good
Review: The qwerty key board is way to small and irritating. They should drop it and bring back handwriting recognition. Palm's total lack of on screen handwriting for this phone is stupid. You have to spend money to buy JOT from CIC.COM which works fairly well. If I had not received the phone for $350 from Verizon I would not have bought -- not worth a penny over that.

Summary: It's the accessories that will kill you....
Review: The Treo is a really easy phone/PDA to learn and to use. It's packed with great features, and it's is truly and all-in-one, too bad it can't pick up the laundry too. Potential buyers, just be aware of the following:1. I could not get it to sync with my laptop with Windows 98. You need Windows 98 SE or ME or above. Solved the problem by buying a new laptop $$$.
2. If you're a woman with fingernails, you'll need the carrying case. The rounded smooth plastic buttons on the keyboard are difficult to use without the vynle cover.
3. The reception is no where nearly as clear as the digital phones. The reception from my bedroom is at best, really bad.
4. You'll spend another small sum on the protable keyboard, cradle, sync cable for travel, car recharger, a second charger and cradle for the office and memory.
5. Learn to back up your data. If your Treo crashes, you'll hear yourself letting out a gutteral scream that you didn't know was in you.
6. If you're storing pics and lots of data, you'll need more memory sooner than later.
7. Get a hands free earpeace so you can be on the phone and look at your calendar and contacts.
8. Join a support group for others who want to lynch the techies who write the manuals for these things. It'll take a couple of cups of strong coffee and an 30 minutes before you end up taking the dog out for a walk.
9. The stylus unscrews to reveal a pointy end to reset your Treo if it freezes. The Tech line is never open when your Treo gets stuck and it's making a loud clicking sound. Plus, when it freezes, you can't get the help number that is stored on your Treo. Tatoo it on your forearm, it'll be more useful.
10. There is no "OFF" button for the Treo and yes, it will freeze on you.
11. You cannot drive and use the Treo like your cell phone, you'll be risking your life and the life of every other dirver on the road if you try to type, send an email, or update a contact or calendar entry.
12. There is no spell check, so expect that most of your emails will be gibberish or unintentionally funny.
13. You can take out a second mortgage to buy the Treo and all it's accessories, but it's really worth it.

Summary: Beware of a BUZZ
Review: This device is an excellent combination of the basic communication tools every business traveler needs. However, in the year I have had it I have had to return it twice (AT&T sent me to their supplier (PalmOne) and did not help me at all) because of a BUZZ that developed on the phone after a short while (about 4-5 months). Its an excellent machine when it works but beware of the buzz and the very poor support AT&T provides. Note: PalmOne was good but only sends reconditioned replacements after 30 days of Ownership.

Summary: Close but needs some work
Review: Unlike other reviewers the phone quality on the first two phones I got sucked. Fortunately PalOne(Handspring) was very nice about sending me out another. Cingular, who I bought if from was no help. The third time was the charm as it didn't buzz in my or my callers ear. Note, it comes with a holser for carrying on your belt, but it doesn't work too well when you try to remove the phone with one hand. The strap draggs accross the screen and terminates the call. So, believe it or not, it takes two hands to get to the phone when you get a call.

Summary: Great Phone, Sh** Service
Review: Well it has been a total of 8 weeks since I have purchased my AT&T Treo 600. Actually I bought (2) of them, my wife thought she would be happy with the unit as well. I must say the phone it self is the best! Hands down.
But being a former Verizon customer I have a higher standard when it comes to the quality of service...
I have had several dropped calls, I have also had customers tell me that I sound at times "fading away". My wife has to be very careful not to move around a lot when talking on the phone due to GSM not having the penetration into buildings (which accounts for all of NYC) living in NYC AT&T has about 110 towers covering the (5) B's.
I wish this GSM phone could be ported over to CDMA...maybe Sprint would have been the better choice. Only disadvantage with Sprint is NO international travel with the Treo...
But the phone itself is wonderful. Best of luck.

Summary: Great phone - get it from AT&T though, not Verizon
Review: Well, as an early adapter, I guess I should be used to taking it hard. I bought Verizon's PalmOne Treo 600 the first day it came out - over a year after AT&T released it. My plan is 400 anytime minutes, unlimited in-network calling, unlimited nights and weekend, and $5 for Internet access a month. Unless I go over, it should cost me $49.95 a month. I just got my first bill.
$1,641.66.
It turns out that the connection to the Internet doesn't shut off - even if you chose "Disconnect" from the web browser's menu. Even if you turn off the unit. It continues to ping the Internet looking for data every six minutes. Hence my bill show some 1023-minute calls.
Steve in Verizon's data division said they've received a lot of calls on this issue and isn't sure why they even offer the $5 web-only feature, when customers need to get the $49.95/month unlimited data transfer or deal with $1,000-plus monthly bills. When I asked if there was a way to stop the pinging every six minutes, I was told no, "it's a data phone first and a cell phone second."
Interesting, as my friends who have the phone with other carriers have never had this problem. Interesting, as I was never told this when I bought it. All I wanted was a freakin' cell/PDA combo, so I don't have to carry both with me, making me look like I'm sporting a chubby in two pockets at once. With Verizon, the cost for doing so is $44.95 plus your calling plan a month, which for me will come to about $100.
After 58 minutes, I was told my bill should be adjusted within 24 to 48 hours.
Also, on Verizon Wireless's PalmOne Treo 600 Smartphone web page it lists a 5 MB transfer for only $24.95. When I asked the technical rep about that option, he said getting it would still cause a Treo 600 owner's bill to be over $1,000 a month. He said it was up there for use with other phones. He had no answer when I said there are no other phones on that page.
Now, I probably could return the Treo 600 - except I already sold my old phone and Palm on eBay.
Of course, if I could just get a free minute for every time I heard "Oh, that's the new phone. I'm not familiar with it" none of this would be an issue.
Buy the phone from AT&T and don't deal with the problems I had with Verizon Wireless. The phone is great!

Summary: speaker breaks
Review: Worked perfectly for 4 months. Excellent device. Suddenly the speaker broke. The signal strenght has been getting lower and lower, and now looses signal.
