Summary: Great FRS radio with Nextel-like features
Review: I originally purchased a set of older FRS radios for camping and caravaning. Unfortunately, these radios were not very usable in the real world - too much noise, bad reception, and so on. A few days ago, I happened to find this Cobra 310WX, and I might as well throw the other radios in the trash. The Cobra FRS features not only the standard 14 channels, but also 38 subchannels - so you can be sure not to run into other conversations. You can even scramble your conversation so that only your family can hear you, using another Cobra radio. If I was using this radio at work, I can preprogram several frequencies into the presets. I can also scan all channels for traffic, scan just the presets, and even listen to two channels at once. Another great feature - 10 weather channels. Now, onto its' Nextel-like features - you can press the Call button, and your friends or family will hear either a tone or feel a vibration (it vibrates!) letting them know a conversation is about to happen. When you let go of the talk button - the other party hears a double-ding (so they know to answer). You can turn off all of these features, or turn them on selectively. I can't say enough great things about this phone. Few more things: really small, fits like a pager on your belt. Antenna swings out of the way, behind the radio. Optional batteries can be charged in the case - there are charging pads on the back. Learning curve is somewhat steep - but after reading the manual, the functions are well laid out.

Summary: Cobra 310 WX
Review: I recently purchased a pair of these little radios for a hunting trip and I Love them! They are very handy! I was able to communicate with my friends easily and the range is really 1.5 -2 miles. The signal is very clear and the weather radio is a life saver! It started to cloud up on the second day while we were out in the field so I turned on the weather radio and sure enough there was a storm front moving in, we had plenty of time to get our rain gear on and get started back to the base camp before the storm hit. These radios also have many other useful features. The radio also has a vibrating call alert that can be turned on and off a privacy (voice scrambling) mode and a channel scan feature.I highly recomend this radio to anyone! We also used the radios to communicate from car to car while traveling to and from the field. I have several of the Cobra radios and this really is the top of the line!
