Summary: Follow up review
Review: April 4, 2003 - This is a follow up review. I have owned this answering machine for 17 months now. Unlike some other reviewers I have had no problems with it. Nothing has gone haywire. I've even dropped it on the floor a few times, and it keeps on working. I still truly believe that this is a very good answering machine for the price. Yes there is one thing I would like to see GE change on this product. It would of been nice if the phone line (cord) into the unit wasn't hard-wired (needs to be detachable). I would of liked to been able to use a shorter phone line. I measured the line on my machine, and it is around 6-1/2 feet. Another reviewer said his was 10 feet. I can see there being variance.

Summary: The Best
Review: Awsome features!! The four mailboxes can be utilized very easly. You can leave a message that gives the caller the option of sellecting a mailbox (ex."for Ron press 1 for Deb press 2") or just sort them later by pressing the mailbox you want the message in while the message is playing. Very pleased by functionality.. Longest record time I have seen on a didgital. Hats of to General Electric for this one....

Summary: Unreliable
Review: From the start, I had problems with various kinds of flakiness - for example, it would spontaneously lose my messages. Recently I pinpointed the cause to be the socket where the AC adapter cord plugs into the machine. Slightly moving the cord or rotating the plug in the socket causes the power to cut in and out, resulting in memory loss. Another thing I didn't like is that it takes up more desk space than the average answering machine.

Summary: So far, so good
Review: Good functional recorder. Keep the instruction manual, this recorder has very detailed programming instructions, especially if you want to use the other three mail boxes.

Summary: I've had to return two of these
Review: I am so dissapointed in this answering machine. I read so many great reviews that I went out and bought one. It is easy to use and read and looks good. However, it regularly cut people off while they were leaving a message (and message length was set to four minutes) and sometimes wouldn't pick up. I can't believe I'm the only one with these problems and yet I tell you the truth it's happened with two machines.

Summary: Great answering machine
Review: I bought one of these before I came to college. I used it for two years and have had voice mail for two. I'm trying to convince my roommate to go back to the answering machine. First there's no monthly fee. Second it has four boxes whereas our voice mail has one. Third the light flashes at you when you have a message. Voice mail really doesn't offer any features that this answering machine doesn't have. With the machine, you can check while away from home, it puts date/time stamps. Plus it's alot easier to change the message, and I always found that to be fun.

Summary: This is a Very Good Product
Review: I don't get all the negative reviews. I spent over 7 hours researching answering machines; it came down to this GE model and the AT&T 1726. I decided on this one because I wanted 4 mailboxes, and I like the way I can leave a message for another mailbox right at the machine... also, I trusted GE more than AT&T.

Anyway,it's fine, works very well. Yes, the sound quality isn't quite as good as devices that use tape, but it's still very clear - remember, it's not meant to be a stereo system! Also, I noted all answering machines have many negative comments, so don't be alarmed, the devices really do work.

Summary: Great product
Review: I have been using this for about a year now and have not had a single problem with it. No tapes to wear out. All digital. More voice mail boxes than I know what to do with (My cat even has voice mail now!). Very easy to use. Highly reccomended!

Summary: A good functions but gives off static. & other problems
Review: I have bought and returned this machine two times . It has a good feature set but loses settings even with battery backup. The other problem is that it there making static noises all the time. It doesn't matter how close to the 2.4G phone it sits but it just makes noise all the time. In a small apartment this is a fatal flaw.

Summary: Additional comments - Opposite experience
Review: I have one of these units. I haven't noticed any static problem as indicated in another review for the same product. The 40 minutes of recording time is unique for models in this price range. You won't have to worry about running out of space very much.
