Summary: Hisssssss is terrible!!
Review: What a shame, this phone has some great features, but it has one flaw that makes it a almost unusable. It's the constant hiss that is played through the earpiece anytime you have the phone on (making a call, etc). I have tried 2 model 2440's and 2 model 2455's, and all 4 of them have this same annoying sound! Maybe my hearing is extra sensitive, but I can hear this noise during conversations, and turning the volume up just makes the hiss louder. There is NO reason AT&T should have ever released this phone, or the model 2455, can their product engineers not hear the terrible hiss in the background?!?! I am returning mine immediatly (again), and giving up on this model series (24xx) of AT&T 2.4Ghz phones. I hope they improve them soon, the hiss has got to go. Stay clear of these phones, unless you can't hear the electronic hash and hissing noises coming through the earpiece, then you might be able to appreciate the other features this phone has to offer. I'm switching back to my 5 year old Sanyo 900Mhz phone, at least the earpiece is quiet when using it. You've been warned....

Summary: Features don't mean squat...
Review: when the voice quality stinks. Yes the handset is cool, and the features/pricepoint are great, but they don't really make up for the poor voice quality and crummy range. I bought this for my office at work, and the range is no better than other people's 900MHz phones in this environment, (single story office building with steel wall studs) and the voice quality and static levels are definitely worse. Since it would be a hassle to return because it was a work expense, I'm keeping it. Otherwise, it'd be going back.

My boss was considering this same phone with the TAD feature, so he borrowed my phone from work. At home, he saw the same background hiss I have at work, and his range was no better than his 10 year old 900MHz Vtech.

Around the same time, I bought the Uniden TRU248 (2.4GHz) for home, and have the same gripes about background hiss, voice echo (on my end), and range.

Neither this ATT or my home Uniden compare to my 6 year old Uniden 900MHz in terms of background hiss and voice echo.

My conclusion - wait for the next generation of 2.4GHz phones. Manufacturers appear to be compromising the analog electronics in order to pack all these cool features in a tiny package.
