Summary: not a bad buy...
Review: ...have had this phone about 6 mnths. now and it has performed flawlessly; heck, it's even been dropped a few times and still works fine. Pretty beefy phone,(looks & feel), compared to others in that class and a worthy buy for the price.

Summary: CORRECTION ON PREVIOUS REVIEW
Review: I am glad I came back to this page again! I am the person who wrote the first view and I did not mean to mislead anyone at all. Due to the very similiar apareance and product numbers of the two different models I thought this phone was the phone that I own. I realized the model I have is 27730GE2 which is a higher up model then this one that comes with Caller-ID and LCD panel. So my comments are valid for the model number I provided up here, not the one listed here. The appearance of the phones are exactly same except my model has the LCD screen and Caller ID built in which was also hard to notice from the pic provided here. I am sorry if this caused and inconvenience to anyone. I still think the model I have is a good buy, but I can't say anything for the one listed here since I have not used that one. This is also a very good lesson to all who writes reviews, make sure you are reviewing the right model because many times different models look very similiar and have model numbers that are very close and the pics on the websites are not always very clear to notice these differences. Note: I had to choose a rating to be able to post this correction on my previous review because the review is not processed unless a rating is provided for the product so disregard the rating on this one!

Summary: Short use phone
Review: I bought this phone less then a year ago and when I first began to use this phone it worked perfect, I could even use the phone untill the end of my street. I could go to the neighbors house and use my own phone, I could go get the mail, and there was no static at all, I could hear perfectly. Then not even a month with my new phone and I started noticing static when I would go to far from the base (like 2 houses over) which was never a problem previously. It just kept on getting worse. And know less than a year from when I purchased the phone, it is totally worthless! The buttons barely work and to dial some of the numbers I have to push extremely hard. Everytime I step outside to get the mail or even just walking to my driveway, the static gets so bad that I can't even here the person on the other line. Then I have to hurry up to get closer to the base of the phone. It was a great phone when I first got it, so if you tend to buy a new phone every three months or so, then this is a good phone but it just doesn't last. So if you want a phone that will work great for long period than I don't recommend this phone, because this is not that kind of phone.

I hope that my review helped anyone that may be considering this phone

Summary: Great Value = right features+right price+quality
Review: I considered pretty much all the 2.4 GHz phones out there, shopped around, read some reviews and finally got this phone about a month ago.

You are reading this rewiev most likely because you are looking for one too. First, no one can suggest one phone is absolutely the best without trying it all but I will tell you about my experience with this phone which whopefully will help you with your decision.

Sound quality: very good, no static, no background noise very clear

Price: If you have been shopping around, you know this is one of the most affordable with this many features, I paid $80.

Features:

Key-pad: easy to use and see day-and-night (back-lit)

LCD Screen: You do not have to have the Caller-ID service to enjoy this LCD secreen, you can see the numbers you are dialing, amount of time you have been on the phone and the menu items while you are using other features.

Memory: You can store numbers and names upto 20 entry, and the best of all you can use the memory function to dial cobination numbers. For instance if you are using a calling card, most of the phones have limited space for number entry per memory slot. With this phone you can store your 800 number for your calling card, your account number and the number you want to dial to a 3 different slot and with the touch of a three button, it will be all dialed for you!

Redial: This phone stores your last 5 numbers you dialed and allows you to redial any of these numbers via an easy to use redial menu or you can just redial the last number with one button.

Message Waiting Indicator: One of the things I rely like about this phone is; if you have a voice-mail service through your phone company this phone will give you a written warning on the LCD screen and a falshing light warning on the base unit to let you know that there is a message waiting for you. This is great becuse if you are online or on the phone with someone else, you will know that someone has tried to reach you and left you a message on your voice-mail without having to call and check your voice-mail number!

Menu: Easy to use and navigate through LCD screen

Caller ID: Currently I am not using this function.

OK this is getting rather long, I am sure you can get more information about this phone on shopping sites such as how long the battery last without charging, etc. but I wanted to give you my take on the phone as detailed as I could. And NO I do not work for GE or have any affiliation, or sell these phones. Just a conscious consumer like you who would like to help other consumers.

Once again, it has been only a month and have not any problems yet to deal with customer service but...

...The Buttom line: I am happy with this phone-- gives me all the features I need (and most likely all you need too), a quality sound and at a very affordable price among the 2.4 GHz phones in the market right now.

Summary: Good phone; batteries impossible to find
Review: I was fairly happy with the phone until the battery started to die, about 18 months after purchase. I have yet to locate a replacement battery - the phone isn't even listed in most battery websites' product listings.

Summary: Don't Buy This
Review: If you value your time on the phone like I do you would not buy this phone. I made a grave error on the day when I purchased it. I have had this phone for about a year and it is terrible. If I leave the phone on the charger for a weekend or a week while I'm out of town and I come home and have a good dish session with my girls (about two hours) my phone is dead. My phone dies at least 50 times a day. I don't even have to tell my friends anymore they can tell when my phone is going to the graveyard. All I have to say about this phone is R.I.P

Summary: Beware of false reviews
Review: The above review by the New York purchaser is misleading because it does not apply to the GE27700GE2. The GE27700GE2 does not have a screen of any type so all the related good features discussed by the New York reviewer do not apply. I have only used the phone once and I heard faint background music picked up from the phone line and no music or TV was turned on in my house. I haven't used it enough to determine if I am happy with it or not but I did buy it based up the above mentioned erroneus review, so beware.

Summary: My review
Review: The GE 2.4 GHz phone is a fantastic purchase. The headpiece is larger than most others on the market and it fits nicely on a shoulder. The reception is quite clear and the extended range is a nice feature. Also, the added security with the DSS is comforting.
