Summary: Only half useful without a power cord
Review: If you're considering buying this, then you probably already own a Zaurus... then you know exactly what it is. It's the same docking station that comes with the unit (I have the 5500). Why are you reading this, then? You don't need me to convince you that it's great, just buy it. You know you need that extra docking station at work!

But, as for a review of the docking station itself: It's great. It plugs into a USB port in the back of your PC (or Mac?). With the driver CD, you set up all of the appropriate drivers and it actually sets up a TCP/IP connection via the USB port to the device in the cradle. You can ping the device and connect to it through other means... very cool stuff. Just SSH into it, or run VNC!

You also use the additional power cord, and plug this docking station into the outlet. You can then charge your Zaurus just by putting it in its docking cradle... (which is why you'd need that extra one at work!) This is pretty standard stuff, but it's still worth mentioning.

All of the software set up flawlessly for me on Windows 2000, and I've had no hardware problem at all. Definitely a solid unit. A necessary accessory for one of the best PDAs out there.

Summary: It's the docking station, minus the AC adapter
Review: It's exactly the same as the docking station that comes with your zaurus, BUT it doesn't come with the AC adapter for charging.

It's not necessarily obvious from the description, and the other review is just wrong, so be warned.

Summary: Only half useful without a power cord
Review: This is exactly like the docking station that comes with the Zaurus, EXCEPT is does not have a power cord. So if your docking station fell and broke, this is a good replacement. But if you want another docking station so you can sync both at home and office, you will need to get a power cord, too.

The ad implies that this is a complete solution to docking at home and work ("Handy extra docking station for your home or office") which is misleading at best, and an outright lie at worst. At the very least they should try to up-sell you on the power cord when you buy the docking station.

The power cord sold by Amazon is over [money]--but you can get the travel cord elsewhere for around [money].
