Summary: Good as long as you don't have unrealistic expectations
Review: The Treo 90 is a handy small PDA that does not promise to be anything but a small, handy color PDA. There is still not a PDA out there that can match it for size, but as many users have mentioned, there are alternatives for the same price that can offer better screen resolution and speed ... However, if you can get one ... and you are just going to use it as a basic PDA, you won't be sorry with your purchase. I had mine for 7 months and gave it up for Palm Tungsten C, which has a better screen, Wi-Fi and a chip 8 times as fast as the Treo, but is used as a replacement for a portable computer. ... Unless you really need these extra features, the Treo is an ideal purchase.

Summary: Not so great
Review: My treo was not at all durable. After one year the flip part did not work so the phone only worked with a headset. After a while the headset would not pick up calls. It also locked up and had to be rebooted in the middle of calls on a regular basis. There was a rebate with the phone and handspring never sent the rebate even with the appropriate documentation.

Summary: Small & Color with Value
Review: The unit is small and the color / backlight are excellent. I easily transferred stuff over from my Sony SL10, which is also small, but the Treo 90 is actually a bit smaller. ...

Summary: Handspring as a company is the WORST in service--Beware!
Review: Although I love the look and feel of this product, I am SHOCKED at the horrendous lack of customer service--buyer beware!

I purchased this product which included 90 days of free telephone support. The first day of use I had trouble HotSyncing it to my Windows XP. Handspring support said that they are no longer giving free support for this product and proceeded to try to charge me $19.95 non-refundable fee to talk to me. (I am reporting the company to the Attorney General, as by including a written document that states that since I bought this item they will provide support is a contract)

I cannot fathom that any company who decided to retract a promise to offer support to use their product will last long. Go elsewhere. You WILL need support and this company does not keep it's written promises.

Summary: Great Product, Poor Support
Review: This is my first PDA, and it is a powerful alternative to paper- or computer-based organizers. The flip-up cover can be annoying sometimes, but at least the touch-screen is protected. This is a five-star product, but I had to dock my rating for the poor service that I received from Handspring. Both telephone and e-mail support leave much to be desired. If you know that you will never have to deal with a Handspring employee, you should definitely consider the Treo. Even with my unfortunate experiences, I still love mine.

Summary: Current Palm users may not find TREO 90 an upgrade
Review: I am a current Palm III user and bought this Treo 90 unit as an upgrade and replacement. I do agree with the many postings here about it's neat size, keyboard, colors, palm desktop, etc. But as an upgrade unit, I expected more than just a "COLOR PALM".

(1) I expected Wordsmith software to be much more compatible with Word. You actually have to convert the Word doc before Wordsmith will load it to the Treo. I expected full .doc compatibility.

(2) I expected the MMC memory card to be able to store files from my PC (using a MMC card reader) - such as word docs, web pages (html), and text docs so that I can view them on the Treo 90. It does NONE of that! The MMC can only be used by the Palm OS for it's own programs and Wordsmith documents. What a disappointment!

(3) The free Blazer browser does not open webpages that you have saved onto the MMC. The browser seems to only work with online webpages using the optional wireless modem/phone. Another major major disappointment.

So if you are looking for an upgrade, better stick with Windows CE - if they make a PDA with a keyboard that runs it. I miss my HP95/100 ! This Treo is basically just a color Palm with a keyboard and a "backup" memory slot. Let's see how long my backlight lasts!

Maybe my simple expectations are too high! (for handspring)

Summary: Love the keyboard
Review: I bought my Treo to replace an HP Jornada that had been stolen. I bought it for the price and because it included the keyboard on the device (I never got the hang of Grafiti). I was a little afraid that the keyboard would be too small to be effective, but even my fingers can navigate over it easily.
So far I love this device. It's about half the weight of my old PDA, it fits in my pocket, and the Palm OS is just as easy (and so far more trouble free) than Pocket Windows had been. The screen resolution isn't quite as good as my old device, but the trade off in size and weight is well worth it.

PROS: Size, value, keyboard, syncs to Outlook
CONS: Getting to the main menu is a more than one button operation. Comes with a USB Sync cable, but not a cradle.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: I have had a Palm 100, Palm IIIC and Compaq. This PDA has been the most useful!!! It is small and very functional. The only thing that I found a pain was that there isn't a one-click "home" button. This was rectified when I purchased "1 Button Pro". I love it!
