Summary: this is great!
Review: ...Anyway, I love my 415! It is tiny so easy to carry. It's got a good solid feel to it (just heavy enough to feel good but not too heavy). The resolution is awesome, the buttons are great (it is hard to turn on accidentally), the clie programs are good (clie remote is sooo cool!), and it's got a jog-wheel. I like my clie a lot better than my palm, plus it looks cooler (!) and is smaller than anything else I've seen.

Cons: stylus is tiny! It is hard to keep between my fingers. The screen can be kinda dark. The backlight is easy to turn on, so it's never an issue for me. I use screen protectors and that reduces glare (plus it's a good investment).

Overall, a great handheld. Highly recommended. Sony's refurbished program is also a deal-- costs a lot less. A must-have if you want the smallest and coolest around!

Summary: Sony... Value Leader
Review: ...Before I looked on Amazon, I looked at [a local store], and they were all out, and out at surrounding stores...The Clie is very nice. My old Palm 3 died last week after 3 yrs... so I was very concerned about my old data. That was seemless. The instruction manual suggested that you uninstall the old Palm off my computer first, but I didn't. I just installed the new software, and did a hot sync. All the old data was tranfered seemlessly to my new Clie'.

The screen is a little smaller than the Palm M500, but only a hair, and...cheaper, I like the Clie 415 better. The screen isn't as bad as some...say it is. In normal light there is no problem, and in low light, it is a little weak, but at least as good as my old Palm 3... with the backlight it is fine.

I recommend this product. Sony continues to be a value leader. This PDA feels solid and quality made. The wheel is nice. The software is nice too.

Summary: A very good monochrome Palm based PDA.
Review: Although the PDA market is moving towards color, I decided to go with the latest monochrome offering from Sony. I loved the sleek design and the 320x320 screen. I feel that all Palm based PDA's function exactly the same (no matter how hard they try to market them separately). You're paying for the design and in some cases compatibility. The USB connection and the rechargable battery were also pluses for me. The software that came with the t415 is great but taxing on the memory if you install all of its offerings (3rd party software is not essential to utilize Clie)

I was disappointed with the screen though. It looks nothing like how Sony has posted it on the web site. The text and pictures are very sharp but the t415 uses reflective technology similar to the Palm m505. So if you're using it in a dim room and the light isn't hitting the screen at just the right angle, it's really difficult to see. No problems in bright, direct light. One other flaw is the placement of the buttons. If you look at the Clie from the side, the task buttons stick out ever so slightly so if you carry it in your pocket using the cover, you could accidently hit the butttons and turn it on. Sony should try and improve that aspect of the Clie. PC users should have no problems syncing. Mac users on the other hand will have to purchase "missing sync" software from markspace.com.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the t415. If you want a cheaper monochrome PDA you might want to check out the VisorEdge which is now ($$$). If you want color, I hear that the best thing to do is wait until the New Year arrives.

Summary: Great Purchase
Review: At first after reading CNET's reviews, i was a little hesitant b/c they said the screen was horrible. I went to my local electronics store, played around with one for five minutes, then came home and ordered one. I love the high resolution screen. Although it's not color, the price and the screen more than make up for it.

Summary: The Just Right hand held
Review: First of all, let me say that the concerns about this PDA's dark screen are overblown.
This hand held unit, for an extremely attractive price, offers all the features that anyone could really need. For all practical purposes a color screen in a hand held is overkill and just adds to the cost. The list of features in this unit is long and very useful. It has the cradle that serves as a battery charger and for sync. with your PC. It has a long battery life, incredible resolution, a backlight if you feel that the screen is somewhat dark (which it really is not), capacity to show stills and movie clips. It has an 8mb memory which can easily be added to with very reasonably priced Sony memory. I bought my unit for less than $250 and that price included an extra 64mb of memory!! Now that is value. Add to that the reliability of Sony Clie and you have got a winner. If you are contemplating a hard working, very handsome, slim, feature packed PDA, you will definitely be not disappointed with this jewel.

Summary: well worth the money!
Review: First, I must admit that this is my first PDA ever. I wasn't sure if the "grafiti" writing system would appeal to me (a laptop user) and I wasn't quite sure what I'd use it for. If you're the type of person who writes phone numbers or important addresses/information on the back of old receipts you find in your car only to forget them 10 minutes later, this is a tool for you! I can't count how many important numbers I've lost... and I'm only 22.

Before purchasing this item I made sure to shop around at my local electronics stores. I compared it to palm-powered devices in its category: Palm M505, Handspring Visor Edge, etc. I have to say I was enamored with this little machine from the second I saw it. Not only is it the thinnest PDA on the market, it also has the highest resolution display. Now I know some people might have complained about the contrast/darkness in reviews here and on epinions... but I must say that I have found no problems with it - in fact, the contrast button/menu (which most, apparently aren't aware of) is simple to use. The backlight is also fantastic.

Since I'm only going to use it for the Address Book, Date Book, To Do List, and Memo Pad I really couldn't care less about the other bundled applications - I'm going to use this as an organizer... nothing more. I must say, however, that the extra applications look tasty (a photo and movie program, world alarm clock, memory stick utilities, etc.). The problem with these, and the only problem I have encountered so far, is the complete and utter lack of Mac OS support.

Since the Sony lacks direct Mac Support (there is a program called "missing sync" but I'm not really interested) I will never be "hot-synching" my Clie to my computer - it will be a stand-alone device. So, if you're looking for a great organizer or even a multimedia PDA (if you have a PC) this is really about the best you can do at this point (not counting the color version) and you won't be making any compromises. Grafiti, as it turns out, is as easy as printing in all Caps and it took me all of 10 minutes to master the basic functions of this beautiful, aluminum, sleek, thin, utterly gorgeous little machine. :)

Summary: almost perfect, screen is dim
Review: great value for the bundled software, high quality finish, and high resolution screen vs Palm products. the screen is dim in certain light conditions but not enough to be a problem. very functional backlight & high rez screen make up for it. also, the leather/nylon flap it comes with is annoying - clie keeps turning on when you put in your pocket.

Summary: Just Sent Mine Back
Review: Has a known "design flaw" according to sonystyle's tech support. The application buttons are raised and easily pressed by the soft cover, turning the unit on. I was constantly hearing it turning on in my pocket, purse, briefcase,--sometimes just picking it up. There is no locking mechanism to keep that from happening. Sony's customer service was the worst I've encountered. 45 minute wait times, only to get the runaround. They were very arrogant. Told me my choices were to send it back (at my expense) or buy a hardcover (also at my expense--$40). They'll probably charge me a restocking fee, they said. All for a known design flaw...
The screen was also hard to read. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY disappointed.

Summary: Sony T415
Review: I bought a T415 after three palm M125s that self destructed within the first 30 days of owning them. They failed without being dropped or having any damage at all. They stopped recognizing graffitti, crashed, locked up, or just wouldn't stay on.
I gave up and bought the Sony Clie T415. What a difference! It seems faster, and I can't say I agree with any of the complaints (except maybe the cover popping out the memory stick) I hear.
Unfortunately, Sony seems to be discontinuing the T415, and now that I DID drop the thing, I can't get a replacement from the point of purchase!
I would buy another one in a heartbeat, though, if i could.
