Summary: Good entry point PDA
Review: After debating for a few months, I finally broke down and bought a Visor and have never regretted the decision one bit.
Good:
- The USB cradle makes it easy to sync with your computer without having to buy an adapter to do so, unless you don't have USB.
- Battery life is not too bad, I can get a few weeks on a pair of AAA's, and I use it a lot.
- Being able to read e-books or play solitare when I have a few minutes on downtime.
- The large amount of software for the Palm OS that makes life a little more organized like a mileage calculator.Bad:
- Black and white screen is a bit hard on the eyes and can be difficult to read in some light conditions.
- The outer shell feels fragile.
- Can be a bit slow in doing some tasks or when moving through large documents.
- 8 MB of storage seems a bit small, but that can be remedied by getting a expansion module.
- The case tends to show every smudge and fingerprint on it, I know I'm nitpicking. This has to be one of the most useful eletronic devices that I have bought to date. I carry my Visor all of the time and it hasn't let me down yet. The only reason that this does not get 5 stars is that it is not perfect, but still well worth the price.

Summary: Best buy for a beginner
Review: Basicly, what I want from a PDA include organization functions, being compatible with the majority of softwares available and the potential to expend the memory. With a resonable price, handspring Visor Neo gives me all! With plenty of Palm OS freeware, easy and quick synchronization, my PDA just become more and more valuable! And boy, they have the best customer support team in the world!

Review: Handspring's Visor NEO is just one of dozens of PDA's on the market. Basically, if you are looking for a good serviceable PDA, the Visor NEO is just about as good a choice as any PDA out there. Here are some product highlights: 1. It has everything you need. All the standard PDA features you've come to love and expect are here: calendar, address book, to-do list, notepad, tools and utilities, expandable hardware, downloadable software, beaming, HotSync software for your PIM software (Outlook, PalmDesktop, etc). 2. Black and white screen. 3. 8 MB ram Drawbacks: 1. Black-white screen. While Handspring PDAs have bigger screens than their Palm competitors, if you use your PDA frequently you'll eventually suffer from what I call "old-school" Gameboy syndrome as you'll probably rack up the optometrist visits due to all the squinting because of the black and white screen. 2. Needs batteries. As this PDA does not come with lithium batteries (which are rechargeable and in most cell phones) you'll need to occasionally replace your AAA Energizers every few months when they die out. In a nutshell, the Visor NEO is just as good as about any other PDA. If you are on a budget, at about $$$ this is the cheapest and most serviceable solution out there for your needs. The Visor NEO is good, but not great. The one advantage the Visor NEO (and all Handspring PDAs) have over their Palm competitors are its larger screens. They are easier to read than Palms because of this. Overall, the Visor NEO is a solid, if slightly flawed product. It's the cheapest, but still very much serviceable, PDA solution out there. If you need more out of you PDA, consider the higher models. Mildly Recommended

Summary: Easier just became faster!
Review: Hi, I have owned a Visor Delux and it was only natural for me to upgrade to Neo. It has all the essential feauters that you need and they are twice as fast as before! Visors always did everything that they were supposed to do RIGHT.. this only does it FASTER. The look and feel is exactly the same as visor delux, however the case is clear plastic that tends to smudge more than the granular surfaced deluxe (this requires more care).
BottomLine: If you want GREAT value for money, with a PDA that will do exactly what you expect it to, then buy this. If you want you PDA to do tricks.. well buy a [better] PDA or better buy an expansion module! There isnt a better gift for your hardworking and smart, significant other! =)

Summary: Handspring Neo
Review: I bought this handheld to replace my paper organizer and then added a phone module with voicestream service (phone for free). It was definitely worth it! I can dial all my numbers with a click, and it's very easy to hotsync with a computer. I probably stay with handspring from now on.

Summary: Great PDA for the price
Review: I bought this PDA after researching similar models, namely the Palm m105 and the Sony CLIE. The display on the Visor Neo is bigger and sharper than the Palm's and it takes little effort to push the buttons. As far as expandibity goes, no handheld comes close to matching the myriad of different expansion modules available for the Visor. In addition to being hipper looking than other PDAs, it's very lightweight and fits easily in my jeans pocket. The other factor affecting my decision to purchase the Visor Neo model was that it runs on AAA batteries. They don't tell you this when you buy your handheld, but most handhelds that use rechargable lithium ion batteries need to sent back to the manufacturer after about 2 years to have the battery replaced. This little service can cost $$$, almost what you'd paid for the PDA itself! I use Rayovac rechargable alkalines in my Visor Neo which I can reuse up to 50 times. It can easily go over a month without needing to replace the batteries. Even if you use regular disposable batteries, it's still cheaper in the long run. Only downside I can think of is that the backlight isn't very useful unless you're working in total darkness and the OS isn't upgradable. Also, the screen can scratch easily so make sure you cover it with a thin piece of clear vinyl (available at fabric stores). Overall, this is a fabulous unit for the price and I'd recommend it anyone looking for a reasonably priced PDA.

Summary: Piece o' junk.
Review: I did a considerable amount of on-line and a small amount of in-store research before I decided to give the NEO a try. It looked like it would be everything I needed in a PDA. I had heard about the 'fingerprint' problem, but I figured I'd be keeping it in a case, so no big deal. So I ordered it, it arrived, I put the batteries in, turned it on...and nothing happened. Tried 'resetting' (even though it hadn't been 'set' in the first place), nothing. Tried new batteries. You guessed it. Maybe I just got unlucky, but mine went right back in the box and on the next UPS truck out. Picked up a refurbished Palm IIIxe for about half the money I paid for the Neo and I've been delighted ever since. (The fact that the Palm doesn't absorb fingerprints like a sponge--unlike the Neo--helps things, too.)

Summary: Handspring Neo Rocks!
Review: I had been looking to get a PDA for awhile; ever since I gave up on using a Compaq Aero a couple of years ago. I wanted an IPAQ because of the color screen and the "windows lite" environment - but the cost was prohibitive (...)(I needed four units for my staff and myself.) I decided to forego the cost of color units and try the Neo. It works great!. The darn little thing is EZ to use. It was simple to install and synchronized perfectly with Outlook right out of the box. (Something my old Aero didn't do.) The Palm system that the Neo uses has lots of applications available. I downloaded and installed one helpful utility to keep track of my growing number of passwords and pins. The software loaded easy and works great. For functionality I got exactly what I was hoping for...a simple to use product with good functionality. I worried about the 8 MB RAM limitation; this doesn't seem to be a problem. (I have "synced" hundreds of contacts, emails and to dos.) I would give the product 5 stars but the lack of color screen hurts. I saw a color handspring model and it is "much" easier on the eyes. I would spend the extra (money) and get color if you have it. Also the backlight on the Neo is no help unless you are in the dark. And why would anyone want a PDA in the dark I might ask? Overall a very good value for the money. A good first PDA. Be sure and get an extra carrying case because the plastic Neo case doesn't look like it could take much of a hit to break.

Summary: no back up for scheduling
Review: I have had a Handspring Visor for 2 years. Twice it has gone blank or it simply froze. No problem, I thought. I'll just hot sink from my desktop after choosing that option. Wrong! All of the datebook items dissappeared from my desktop. This has happened twice. Also, my batteries went dead without the PDA telling me in advance. I don't know what to do now. And I cannot figure out what they mean by backup! This is just too much trouble!
