Summary: Great model
Review: This is a great model. Just add a CompactFlash card for more space and some great programs and you've got a great palm! (not that it isn't without all that stuff!)

Review: this is my first pocket pc that i purchased it to replace my handspring visor. the metal case is very sleek, matched with the color screen, it definitely is a head turner. the rechargeable battery is a nice feature, although the life span is rather short. the serial sync cable included works fairly well but a usb cable would have been better. the infared sync works well with my laptop, but it's much slower than the serial cable. one thing that does annoy me is the fact that you can not store the stylus on the pda itself (like on the palm or visor) rather it stores in the protect sleeve instead. if you get this device you will soon find that the built-in memory is not enough, so i highly recommend getting an additional compact flash memory card. i have used it as an mp3 player but since i store the music on the expansion cf card, reading from the cf slot drains the battery pretty quick. i have also done some light editing of word and excel documents while on the go which works out great.
i also have a cf analog modem and cf wireless card to access the internet, it's not very fast but gets the job done when i need to chek my email. color depth is not all that great, you cannot view pictures or video very well but that might be expecting too much.

Summary: Really awsome, especially for the price
Review: This little PDA must not be advertised much. I bought one in the store after trying a lot of them, and for the money, this does just about everything! It is a Pocket PC, so it has Word, Excel, money management etc. It doesn't have World time, which I liked on the handspring and is a little heavier than some, though it is still a very portable size, not as big (or heavy) as some of the other pocket PCs. Voice recording is cool. I just got it and keep playing around with it. It's definitely not as user-friendly as the Handspring or Palm, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but it does have a great color screen and more memory and features than the other ones. You can also eventually buy a modem for it if you really want and play MP3s on it. Some other Jornadas (higher numbered ones) didn't get so great a review on Consumer Reports, so I was hesitant to buy this one, but so far, the sync capabilities with my machine are great. I think this is just one overlooked little machine.

Summary: Not for a Pocket Gamer
Review: This Pocket PC is very good for the basics..reading eBooks, offline webpages, notes, e-mail, appointments. However, if you are a Pocket Gamer like I am there is nearly no good games out there. I got Doom to work, but the graphics are hideous. Anyway, if you are using this organizer as, well, an organizer, then it's a good deal for a good price. But if you want to use this pocket pc as a, hahaha, pocket PC, you should invest in 600 or 700 series HP products.

Summary: The HP Jornada 525 has a powerful kick!
Review: This product is awesome! I've used it for mostly note taking and mp3 music, and the quality of the music is better than any mini disc or mp3 player I've used before. It has a mixmatch of everything for everyone, making it very useful. I use it daily with reminders of when and where to meet people, and how long, etc. It comes standard with my favorite windows game Solitare. All in All, I love it!

Summary: Good, but needs some HW design improvements
Review: We got 3 of these at work a couple weeks ago. Not having a cradle is such a pain, that we'll be ordering 3 cradles soon. The cables are awkward and present a slight hazard. I accidentally pulled the unit to the floor when getting foot caught on cords. It was a minor fall onto a carpeted surface. The plastic adapter on the PDA end of the power supply cord got broken. It seem like a very poor design for a component that is so likely to receive minor jolts. The power and serial connectors interface directly with the circuit board. Might have been a good cost saving design strategy, but in this case, the design seems prone to mechanical stress. Seems like there should be some other more standard, more durable connector designs HP could have used, that mounted better to the external metal case.

Yes, the little cover over the CompactFlash slot is also poorly designed. It is hard to remove the unit from it's case without flipping this little hatch. But with some practice, I can now avoid flipping it open.

I wish the stylus stored on the unit (like other PDAs do), rather than in the pouch.

And a couple days ago, after maybe 10 days use, the unit stopped accepting touchscreen inputs, even after performing the precribed resets. So it's on its way back to the store for an exchange. Argh! Maybe we shouldn't have gotten the 1.0 HW release ;-) Then again, I suppose there's a good chance other PDAs have comparable problems.

All these HW nuisances are outweighed (barely) by all the great things the unit can do (see product descirption elsewhere). It is VERY handy for use in an office environment that uses MS Outlook for email, tasks, calendaring, etc.

The other 2 units have not experienced the same HW failures, yet.

Summary: How Did I Ever Live Without This Little Blessing?
Review: When I think back to the time in my life before implementing the HP Jornada 525, all I can see is paper. Little pieces and large pages -- strewn about in my office, car and bedroom. All in an attempt to record moments of significance and information with retention requirements.

What a relief! This little piece of electronic technology has, with more power than my first portable computer, allowed me to organize, record and generally track the past, present and future of my life. Intimately and accurately, the Hp Jornada 525 has empowered me to have all pertinate information "in the palm of my hand".

Color - supurb! Audio - unbelievable! Downloading from the internet - easy! I record my own voice-thoughts when writing with the incredibly easy touch-pen is not convenient. I keep recordings of my little four-year-old girl stored on my Jornada so that I can listen to her voice to remind me why I am working so hard and how great it will be to get home to her and her mother.

I could go on...

The title says it all.

Summary: GREAT!!!
Review: Wow, this thing is amazing! This HP 525 has many great things about it. It has a 133mHz Processor, 16mb RAM, and many more things. Above all is its price! (...) This syncs great and fast, and who needs so much memory built in? You can expand 64mb for (dollar amount)! The screen is great, and it can also play mp3s. Since the handheld is so cheap, I don't have to worry about breaking or scratching it. (...) This is a GREAT little machine!!!
