Summary: It just keeps getting better
Review: From the moment this system arrived at my doorstep, there was something about it that said "quality." Apple must be working with some top-notch packaging designers, because every detail of this machine (right down to the box and protective styrofoam) has been given serious thought. As I was unpacking the machine, I found myself as excited as a child opening Christmas presents. The out of box experience was amazing.

Setup was easy and straightforward. I was surprised by how large the 17" display was, as it looked more like a 19" CRT display (the resolution is 1280x1024, so it is pretty much the same screen size). Turning on the computer was a joy...a welcoming animation and walk-through setup process ensured that I was up and running in no time.

One thing to note was that this system boots up in OS X. After registering and filling out the necessary information to go online, I then had to fill out a similar form after booting up in OS 9. This was slighty annoying and definitely repetitive, but until Apple gets enough product support for OS X, I suppose users will have to go through this.

The machine itself is stylish and suprising smooth-looking. I had an older Power Mac G4 at work that was more textured in appearance (vertical lines), so to me this looks almost plain. But to be honest, I think I prefer this newer design as it blends in better with the rest of my setup. The CPU sits nicely at the floor of my desk and because the LCD screen has two USB ports, I'm able to plug in the mouse and keyboard there.

This G4 is packed with software: iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, and iPhoto, as well as a collection of third-party titles. The machine is very snappy and feels fast in all the applications I've tried. It boots up in less than a minute (bye-bye coffee break) and I'm already using the built-in dual display feature. ...As a side note, I opted for the free super-saver shipping (which takes 5-9 business days) but suprisingly received the machine the next morning! Thanks Amazon!
