Summary: fast, nice design and great price!!!.
Review: I purchased this computer recently after, having many problem with an HP computer since the day I bought it. This sony pc is able to run all my programs without freezing. I run photoshop, corel, flash and dreamveaver, it runs all the programs smoothly and fast. It also has a bunch of programs already preinstalled in the computer which are great for any multimedia use,, and its got a nice little keyboard with a wrist rester, and a nice little blue light....
I reccomended it...

Summary: Sony Vaio 550
Review: Overall good machine, but some problems.

The optical drives are not well aligned in the chasis, and the CDR drive does not eject reliably. I often need to reboot the machine to be able to eject the CDR drive. (The DVD drive has no issues.)

Floppy drive has some problems reading floppies.

Sound, display, bundled software are all good.

Sony's technical support has been amazingly disapppointing. I fill out a couple of requests, including one that the basic technical support gives an error, and mail them in. One week later I get a machine reply, which tells me to reply if this does not answer my questions. I reply, and wait more than 1 week (still waiting) for a person to reply.

Summary: Sony .... Good for the warranty....
Review: Well, it was a solid computer for the length of the warranty. Which is 1 year. A couple months after the warranty expired, BAM! The Hard Drive fried. Customer support is a drag when you run out of the warranty 3 hours waiting to hear that repairing it will cost 311$.... For that, I say spend your money else where, your better off without Sony.

Summary: Non Support
Review: Worked great out of the box...then the Sony updater and other features took over. No way to control system setup unless you are hip to scripts. No way to fix system setup (like in XP). I had to tell the tech that my setup disks could be bad, then I think they sent me a mixed set!!! It thinks it is XP Pro and Home. I'm going to buy real Windows disks and try to load the Sony software. Wish me luck.
