Summary: Good for some users, wrong for others
Review: The pluses are easy: Very light, long battery life, easy to use.

The downsides are important: G3 CPUs are old and Apple plans to dump them soon. This is not a processor with a lot of life left in it. Combine that with slow SDRAM (most notebooks now use faster DDR-SDRAM) and you are not talking about a computing powerhouse.

If the pluses mean a lot to you, then this may be your notebook. If you are looking for more CPU power at this price range look at Compaq, Dell, or HP. If you have the money a G4 based Powerbook has quite bit more computing power.

Summary: Awesome
Review: This iBook is so much better than anything in its class, it just amazes me. Of course the OS has much to do with it, but there is nothing else in its class that comes close for stability, ease of use, battery life (try getting a real six hours use on a charge with a Pentium! Your're lucky if you get three, and that's when the chip is detuned to use less power!) and build quality.

You can pay less for something else, but you will definitely get less if you do.
