Summary: Superb Graphics & Physique
Review: First chief feature of HP z7010us is the extreme graphics it produces. With 64MB shared video memory in collaboration with Nvidia GeForce Graphics Card, you can play the toughest games easily such as "Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2" or "Max Payne 2" or "Medal of Honor". All in 17" Fullscren. So for boys and girls who like playing heavy-duty games this computer is desirable.

Second main feature, as I see it, is the computers Physique. Even though it is a dense computer, the way it is constructed, makes it look sleek and slim. It really looks very smooth, and the silver & shiny color makes it look majestic. For people who give a heck to the shapes of laptop's this computer looks good.

As to speed of this computer, "Intel Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz" AND "512MB-RAM" will never fail fail you. Run one task and you will get lightning-fast performance. Run two tasks at a time, and still get a good performance. Of course we have A DVD-ROM and CD-RW for watching movies and burning CD's.

One thing that I didn't like about this computer is the time it takes to load fully. When I log in to Windows XP, it takes 1 minute for the computer to load completely. And the more programs you install the more time it will take to load. Previous computer I owned, much slower then this one, took at most 30 seconds to load fully.

One last feature of this computer is it's keyboard. The Hp zd7010us has a numeric keypad to the right of the normal keyboard, so it is easy to enter numbers. People who are interested in a 17" Widescreen laptop's must give this computer a try. You can always exchange!

Summary: Don't buy!! Two Major Problems
Review: First, it is the noisiest laptop I've ever heard -- possibly noisier than any desktop. This is just inexcusable and I feel that it could have been avoided.

Second, and far worse, it has a defect. It will start spontaneously shutting down for apparently no reason. I have researched online and found other references to it. HP claims that it happens with Photoshop or other intensive applications, but I don't run any. They also claim that it happens only when you have two sticks of RAM installed. I did, so I removed one, tried changing slots, and changing sticks. Nothing worked. It's still shutting down.

Of course, there is a one-year warranty and my unit is 14 months old, so I was told I was out of luck. It will cost $279 plus whatever parts they need (new mainboard??). In addition, their customer service is useless. They know nothing and you can tell they just recite policy and can do nothing else. Sounded like an Indian outsource situation to me.

In short, DO NOT BUY THE zd7010us!! You will avoid a very bad experience.

I hope this is helpful.

Summary: Really for the Price...
Review: For the price one would expect atleast a DVD+RW Burner. And the battery Life is bad, about 45 min max.

Summary: Incredible, if you din't mind big.
Review: Got one of these for my gf. She runs Excel and some specialized db clients at work, so the built-in numeric keypad is great for her. For fun she runs Photoshop Elements and other photography stuff. The big screen is great for Excel but it is not just big, it is stunningly beautiful and bright, perfect for looking at or retouching pictures. The machine has a fast processor, lots of connectors, surprisingly good battery life, and an excellent wi-fi antenna. The only downsides are it's BIG (we refer to it as The Largest Laptop In The World), it has a primitive super heavy power adapter like a brick, and it runs Windows -- I've been running Mac OSX for awhile now and I like it a lot better. But no current Apple laptop can match the speed of this thing (there won't be a G5 laptop for a bit yet), and Apple's 17 " screen, while great too, has nothing on this one.

HP has replaced this model with another that is slightly faster but otherwse identical (I've seen one). believe the model number is nx9500.

Review: Great features, lots of speed and room, big keyboard, 10-key pad and all the ports you would want!

Aside from the weight, this has been a wonderful and reliable laptop for my business. I highly recommend this.

The large and wide sreen works great with presentations, makes viewing spreadsheets and databases easy!

Highly recommend it!

Summary: Get a Dell - Definitely!
Review: I bought a Pavilion 7015 thinking I got a great machine at a great price. What I got was an enormous headache with hardware and software problems within 2 weeks (e.g. I could NOT load Photoshop Version 7 on the machine or use my 19" Viewsonic monitor with the laptop. Their tech support is "beyond a joke." It's been 30 days and the new software they promised three times to send hasn't arrived. And their "Customer Advocate" was downright rude and unprofessional. In all my years of owning Apples and Dells, I NEVER experienced any thing approaching bad tech support as I have with HP. Buy a Dell, a Sony Vaio, an Apple.... or buy a machine put together (out of spare parts) by a pimply high school kid, but DON'T.. DON'T get an HP computer. I love their printers. Buy them. Also, when you put their bulky laptop next to my elegant Apple 17" Powerbook, it looks "cheesy" in design and quality (cheap plastic case on the HP versus the cool aluminum of my Apple.
I made the worst buying decision and am angry at myself as much as I am at HP.

Summary: This is a great notebook, no problems whatsoever
Review: I bought this system 2 days ago, and have had no problems at all like the other review here says. It seems to be the most stable system I have ever used. It is extremely powerful when it comes to graphics and games, and for the price, a CD-RW/DVD drive is reasomable. I would not reccomend it for a traveler, it is pretty hefty, but for a mostly home user that just wants to be able to move from room to room, it's perfect. With built-in 802.11g, there's no need for anything but the computer itself even when you do travel. This is 3 months after i wrote that, and I must revise that rave review. The mouse's touchpad goes bad anywhere from 2 days to 3 months after you buy a laptop of this ZD series. I went through 2 myself, and ended up buying a Toshiba P25-S509, a notch up, and have had no problems with it yet.

Review: It's incredible notebook: 17 inch display, harmon kardon speakers! And so cheap. Very good choice to buy.
