Summary: How to fix the too small belt clip!!
Review: The player doesn't fit in the belt clip. :( But you can fix that! Here is what you need:
1.)A lighter.
2.)Fingers.
3.)The belt clip.

Take the lighter and melt the plastic bands on the belt clip for just a few seconds, while you pull the plastic taut with your fingers. Work slowly so you don't burn yourself or start a small fire. ;) Don't breathe the plastic fumes. :p
Guess and test to see how far you should stretch the plastic so that the player fits perfectly and then you are done. Yay!

Summary: Good, useful player, nice features, poor construction
Review: I bought this player because the price was right for the features it offered. I now have exactly the mp3 player I need: a small, light unit that can hold enough songs to entertain me at the gym, on the slopes, and while walking. I recommend buying one or two 64 mb smartmedia cards. Why two? That way you can carry an extra hour (or two) of music on the extra card for longer jaunts. DO NOT TRY TO USE A 128 MB SMARTMEDIA CARD WITH THIS PLAYER; IT ONLY READS CARDS UP TO 64 MB. That little factoid should have been better advertised, as I ended up having to return the 128 mb card that I bought when I bought the player.

The sound quality of the player is satisfactory. The volume is strong, but not overpowering. I keep the volume set between 15-20, and that allows me to hear the music, while not drowning out important sounds (like that car honking at you as it's about to run you down while you blissfully cross the street humming along to your favorite tune). The equalizer settings change the sound, but not enough to make an impact. I leave it on the Rock setting constantly anyway. I cannot speak to the quality of the included headphones, because they are still in the plastic. I use my trusty Sony sports earbuds from 6 or 7 years ago.

The remote control is a little tricky to use, because it's easy to hit the volume adjustment when trying to hit any other buttons. The clip on the remote is too short and too hard to actuate with one hand.

The software is simple to set up and use, even without reading the directions. Transfer times are not lightning fast, but they aren't painfully slow either. It takes about 7-10 minutes to load a 40 minute album onto the smartmedia card. Loading to the card is no slower or faster than loading to the player's on-board memory.

You cannot adjust the playlist once you load the device. You set the playlist in the software. You have to find every track by skipping in sequence, but you can skip from track 1 to the last track by skipping back. For example, if you want to play a middle song on the card, you will have to manually skip tracks (starting with the on-board memory) until you reach the song you want. This can be tedious. The remote control LCD provides track number and length, but no other track info. It also provides a battery level readout, equalizer setting, and play mode setting (intro, shuffle, repeat 1, repeat all, a-b repeat). Without the remote control, you don't have access to any track info (or any other player info for that matter).

The number one flaw is the design of the battery case. The cover for the battery slot is a little tricky to remove, and even trickier to put back. It hooks into the player with a small plastic tab which seems easy to break. The main problem with this weakness is that one end of the contacts for the batteries is on the inside of the battery compartment cover. Thus, if you break that tab, you are SOL. The cover won't fit into place, and the batteries won't work, and the unit is completely broken, even though otherwise completely functional. Bad, bad, bad design. On the slightly positive side, the batteries should last you a good long time. I have played several hours of music already on the first set of batteries, and the battery display on the remote control LCD doesn't even show any drain yet. I predict that this flawed design will likely be the end my affair with this player (when the tab finally breaks).

Overall, this player is a barebones, good bang-for-the-buck mp3 player. I recommend it to people who need it for listening to music while exercising, riding the bus/subway, or walking to the store/class/anywhere. If you want a player to hold most of your music library so you can listen to your most obscure songs anywhere, anytime you feel the urge, you probably aren't even reading this review. But if you are, this player isn't for you. If you don't mind frequently updating the playlist to fit your music tastes of the day (or week, and buying an extra card alleviates this to a certain extent), if you don't need a lot of bells and whistles, if you are looking for an mp3 player to replace your aging walkman/discman, then this player is perfect for you.

Summary: Good, but not enough memory....
Review: This is a very good mp3 player. I found it very workable, and the sound quality is great. It's just as good as a cd, or maybe just a little worse. Overall, it is quite a great product. The only flaw is the small amount of memory. Luckily, it can be expanded with the smartmedia card. Too bad it can only take a 64MB. Oh well...

Pros:
Lightweight and easy to store and carry
Comes with decent headphones
Can play quite loudly
Good battery life
Easily connects to the computer via the usb port
SmartMedia expandability

Cons:
Only 32MB of omboard memory
Can only take up to a 64MB SmartMedia Card
Software is a pain

Overall, this is a nice little gadget, recommended to any music lover that wants to carry just a little bit of their collcetion wherever they go.

Summary: Great, but too small
Review: I really like this one. I can take a little music wherever I go.
The only flaw of this mp3 player is the fact that it only comes with 32 megabytes of memory. That is barely enough to hold 12 songs. Luckily, it has a slot for SmartMedia cards, extending the memory to 96 megabytes. It can only take a 64 megabyte SmartMedia card, however, which is the only other flaw. It takes some getting used to, and the software [stinks]!!! Once you learn the software, this is one fantastic product.

Summary: FANTASTIC BUY
Review: This MP3 Player is perfect if you do not want to pay more than 100 bucks for the expensive ones. It has Great sound and overall good quality. If u can afford it get the 64MB Yepp instead of the 32MB one. It Downloads fast and works Fine with WINDOWS XP, All u need is the Explorer program and XP drivers from the Samsung website.
The only defects are that the battery cover is pretty weak but it comes with 2 of them and that the belt clip barely fits onto the player.
However compared to the price and what u get out of this MP3 player there is no better deal.

Summary: transfer rate is slow, cheap battery cover, ok otherwise
Review: saw the price thought it was great. got it with 64 mb of memory (viking). It's definitely great for working out. HOwever, I've had the same set of tunes on this thing since I bought it 2 months ago because the transfer rate is so slow. Kind of irritating but it could also be because I'm impatient. I guess it takes about 20 minutes or so to transfer all the songs I want. Would suggest buying it for the price but perhpas if you've got the cash, get one of those iPods--more memory and probably much faster transfer.

Summary: transfer PC to player slow, application tends to crash often
Review: The big advantage od this player is its price. I've been using it for 3 months now, and I think that the sound quality is ok (I am not very demanding). Buttons and controls are functional. Wires often get all messed up when I carry it in my bag, making them effectively very short (the alternative is to spend one minute or two uncluttering them every time). The biggest problem I have with this player is that it's difficult to transfer mp3 files from my PC to the player. I find the transfer to be slow, which makes it impractical for every day usage. Furthermore, the application that comes on the cd together with the player (RealPlayer Jukebox) crashes virtually every time on my Windows 98 PC. I know that Win 98 are not so common nowadays any more, but the product is declared to work under Win 98, so it should work. What I am doing now is just trying multiple times, and eventually I am able to do it, but it takes time and patience.

Summary: Good quality but relatively slow transfer from PC
Review: I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of this MP3 player. Quite useful remote. It even included some tracks on the player but was not able to save them to my PC. Most of my CD collection is saved on my PC at 128Kbps and to transfer to the YEPP it gets converted to 96 and makes the transfer slower (I believe) than if it were all in 96. All in all, it's a great machine and recommend buying it with a 64Mb card. It gives me over an hour of tunes.

Summary: Good Buy
Review: I bought this MP3 player to motivate me to jog, and it has done just that, although there are a few drawbacks. The "belt clip" is anything but. You're better off just holding the thing while you exercise. Also, if you are copying CD's onto the thing, the sound quality is poor-- but---I have had the Yepp for a month and love it. For the amount of money I spent, it's a decent device. However, if you ordered the player before the end of February, there is a FREE memory card offer. When should I be expecting that? This is a good "first" MP3 player. When I drop it in water, or step on it, and eventually break it--- I won't feel bad!

Summary: Cool Little Thang
Review: I was just looking for something to replace my walkman so that I could have more choices when I worked out. This MP 3 Player is so awesome though, it is tiny and the sound quality is really good. The software was so easy to load and the songs transfer pretty quickly from the computer to the mp 3 player. I guess about my only complaint is that there isn't much memory on the thing and I can usually only have 7 songs on there at a time. But I think that's fine if you're just using it to go running b/c once you get sick of a song you can just change it anyway. Also, the headphones sound good, but when I run on the treadmill I feel like they are going to fall out, so I don't use them really.
