Summary: Defective Printer
Review: After installing the printer software, the printer quickly failed. The printer failed after I printed the second page. I couldn't get the autofeeder to work afterwards.

In addition, I was unable to get free technical support after hours. Cannon charges a $25 fee for calling after hours.

I returned the printer and purchased another brand. I am quite happy with this choice.

Summary: Great-Just read the instructions
Review: After reading the reviews it was evident the people who were complaining didn't read their manual carefully. The dreaded 6 beeps they all mentioned didn't mean to replace the ink. It meant to replace the blue cartridges that hold the ink. Had they noted the numbers associated with each, it would have been crystal clear. The ink refills are referred to as ink tanks not cartridges.
I have owned and used three of these wonderful printers with great results. I have never had problems with paper, unless I attempted to use cheap thin paper. They are accurate, versatile, and do a great job. The only draw back is that about once a year with regular use, the blue cartridges, which have the print heads on them need to be replaced.

Summary: Thank goodness its been discontinued
Review: At first everything worked fine, then it stopped feeding paper. I took it to a repair shop and it never worked the same. It was a constant source of frustration. Finally I just beat it to death.

Summary: Solid performer:Solid feel
Review: At the outset, i've always liked canon products. They feel sturdier and more solidly built than their competitors. This printer is no exception. Setup was a snap, and its pop up screens when setting up a print job are intuitively sound and easily manipulated. Text printing is very quick and the quality of the printing is very sharp and dark. Color printing, even on low grade paper, is rich: when using high resolution paper and the appropriate settings, it is superb. Don't be swayed by mail-in rebates. Get this printer and get on with your life.

Summary: Canon BJC-6000
Review: Bad Points - Printer is noisy and often feeds more than one sheet at a time. Long warm up time. Does not feed easily when only a few sheets are left in the sheet feeder. Print quality is so-so but acceptable. I don't think it is made any longer by Canon.
Good Points - The printer was cheap when I bought it. It has individual ink tanks. There are various quality levels of printing.

Summary: reflections on my BJC6000
Review: BJC6000 purchased in fall of '99 after much searching on-line for a good ink jet printer. It prints color graphics well, and photos OK, not as well as I had hoped. It was a bit challenging to set up, with all of the color cartridges snapping into place, and the lack of an accompanying cord was odd. It makes a racket with lots of clicks and snaps and whirs (print heads aligning?) when it powers up and before and after it prints, which is unnerving (like, is it working correctly) and sometimes aggravating. In my opinion, if you want a decent printer that prints at the better end of ink jet quality, but not the very best, then the 6000 is a good deal. Lower-priced models print OK, too, though.

Summary: Its a nice printer
Review: But over time the quality of the pictures printed seemed to drop. Nice printer while it lasted though. Although compared to the printers of today its slow and has no USB port so you'd be better off without it anyway.
