Summary: R I P BJC
Review: I'd like to say a few words in rememberance of my BJC-2100. If any of you out there would like to take time to reflect on your lost printers as I go along, feel free.
I believe (and I'm not entirely sure because I don't want to PAY to call for tech assistance) that my 2100 has fallen victim to a common disease among its kind: the print head/cartridge meltdown. As with life, some 2100's seem to have all the luck, and others just none. The expired printer was a newer one; I still have an older 2100 that is about two years old, still alive and printin'.
As I've seen others commenting so lovingly about their own, I would agree that the ink tanks are very cheap, the cheapest I've seen around.
It's a bit like a roulette game, a shot in the dark so to say. If you're low on funds and really need a printer, the 2100 is a faithful friend, until the end. Feed it well and love it, and maybe it will love you back long enough to spit out that one last assignment before it dies.

Summary: Couldn't be any worse
Review: I'll never buy another Canon printer again. I recieved this useless pile of junk as a wedding gift. It refused to print. At all. No test sheets, nothing.

So I PAID to call their inane tech support to fix THEIR problem. Spent an hour on the phone. The result? I get a "factory refurbished" printer in exchange for my new one. As I expected, the factory refurbished unit failed shortly after the 90 day warranty expired. At least I didn't pay for this piece of rubbish.

Summary: Great products come in small packages.
Review: I've been using my canon printer for more than 3 years and I'm very please with it. My parents wanted the same printer, so I searched the web and found one for them. The price was right and it included a ..rebate. It's a great printer and it only uses a small amount of space. The driver install process is done in a few mintues and the printer is ready to perform. This canon printer is fast and makes great color and black printed pages. This printer includes free greeting card software. My family enjoys making their own greeting cards. Replacement ink cartridges for this printer are not [that much]. The printer has 2 separate ink cartridges, one with color ink and one with black ink. If one ink cartridge runs out, the printer still prints. Great works come from this small canon printer.

Summary: Not a bad printer for most needs...
Review: I've found this printer can handle most jobs that I send to it, with reasonable ease. As low priced as this printer is, I only purchased it for a backup to another printer. However, I found this one to work better for my projects.

I create family history books, photos, and tons and tons of text pages from this printer... and it works beautifully. The pictures are not bad at all, I just had to make some adjustments to the print options... don't use the regular photo print option! Use the optimum photo option and either change the cartidge to your photo cartridge, or leave in the color cartridge and change the option from photo to color. It works great, just needs to be selected with each print job, or you can set it up as the default. I'd recommend trying the different print options first, then decide what you think of this printer. I'm pleasantly surprised!

Summary: sending printer into outspace with no return ticket.
Review: My Canon BJC 2010 printer came as a package deal with my Gateway computer. I have had nothing but trouble with this printer, and have owned it for approx 2 years. When I first got the printer, it was great, worked for about 3 months. Then had to replace the black ink. I have gone through 5 black ink cartridges, and one colored cartridge. and I do not do alot of printing. The jets are constantly clogged. I have replaced the entire electronic cartridge 3 times now. I now cannot get black ink to come out, and the colored, is a bit to be desired. I have contacted
Canon, with absolutely no luck, their customer service is a bit to be desired. I'm sending this printer into outer space, and am now looking for a new one. I find these customer reviews very helpful in making my decisions, and have narrowed my selection down, due to these customer reviews. I recommend this printer to nobody, unless you want to use it as a plant container.

Summary: Super printer for the price!!!
Review: Needed a printer for my notebook and wanted something kinda small and easy to transport. After searching amazon.com for portable printers, I found the BJC-2100 for a wonderful price, and after reading the specs and reviews I had to have it. Received it a lot faster than I thought it would take. Removed all the contents from the box and setup was quick and easy. I would recommend using a parallel or usb cable, only because I've tried using a parallel-to-usb printer cables and couldn't get it to detect. Other than that, the printer is great. It's small, fast with text, and quality is great for the price, even better than other printer ... . Since I use me PC for scanning, editing and printing pics, I can't give a rating on its photo quailty, but can say from reviews and my own personal knowledge that it isn't that great. I would mostly recommend this printer as a portable-substitute for people who need one for their laptop or as first-time printer for computer new-comers or kids - since loading paper and cartridges and using it is fairly easy. The cool thing is, now I don't have to buy a scanner for my notebook, because canon makes a nifty scanner cartridge compatible with this model. One more bonus this printer has over its competition, a 2-in-1 printer that's light-weight, inexpensive and quite compact.

To sum it all up, I'll admit I'm quite impressed with my BJC-2100. I was expecting it to give me problems with installation or poor text quality, but Canon has a winner in my book. Plus, the ink is retailed at affordable prices ... . I say get one today and enjoy.

Summary: Understand the details before picking a brand of printer
Review: People seem to be getting upset over the fact that you have to replace the cartidge (printheads w/ink) after a year or so. So what? Contrast this with Epsons: if their printheads ever clog, you might as well throw the printer out, as there's no easy way to replace them. Or HPs, where you pay for a new printhead *every* time you buy new ink (hence the refill market). The worst that can happen with the BJC system is that you get stuck with extra ink, since the carts come filled. Although I haven't tried it yet, there must be a way of keeping the unused ink-tanks intact until they're needed; what's the big deal?

Regardless of the brand, you're going to end up paying for new printheads sooner or later. With a cheap printer like this, it's not that the cartridge costs more than a whole printer; it's that the printer sells for the price of a cartridge! So if the mechanism does die on you, you're really not losing anything, as that part was essentially free to begin with.
