Summary: Incredible Printer
Review:
First let me say, that this is my first photo printer so I have no point of reference, compared to other photo printers out there. One thing is certain, my old HP Deskjet(RIP) is an archaic device compared to the Canon. Photo print quality is so good my wife could not believe that I actually printed one of my son's pictures in a home computer (photo lab quality for sure). Regular documents prints also enjoy extremely good print quality and the duplexing feature is very neat.

Setup was and installation was a breeze, and the included software is very user friendly. I love the ability to use the top feeder or the tray, I am almost always guaranteed to have paper in the printer.

I have only used the memory slots on the front once or twice to see the pics from my camera memory card, but have never actually printed direct. I like the feature, but I'd rather manipulate the picture in the computer.

I am totally thrilled with this printer and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive quality product.

Summary: Great printer
Review: After weeks of reading reviews about photo printers, I purchased the Canon ip6000D based on it's high ratings. So far it has been a great printer.
Pro's
easy set up
4x6 photos done in around 30 seconds
great picture quality(i couldn't tell the difference when compared with digital photo's from my drugstore)
Don't need a computer to get pictures from your camera
6 seperate toner cartridges
Transfer of files very quick
Quiet printing

Con's
LCD screen is hard to read if not at the right angle (minor annoyance, but doesn't affect quaility)
Doesn't come with a usb cable
best pictues with canon glossy paper - other paper manufactures
don't provide as good quality

I highly recommend this printer.
** update 1/28 - LCD screen can be fixed by switching the contrast on the printer, which of course was written in the manual!!

Summary: Top Notch SOHO Photo Printer
Review: Excellent Photo Printer. Very clear and a ton better than my old Epson C82. I use a Kodak 6490 Digital camera and it produces great pics, especially on the Cannon Photo Pro paper. I haven't tried my old Epson paper as of yet. It is nice to have the option of not having to boot up my PC to review and print my pictures as well. I can use either the card reader or the USB port, SD card slot is easier. Nice to see store quality prints right out of your printer. Very quick and quiet! My old Epson created gloss and non-gloss areas on the photos, these are full gloss with color correct images. If you are going to do more text printing you might want to go with the IP4000 as it has a black pigmented base color for sharper text printing. I did print off some docs though and they looked just fine on this printer. I did a good deal of research and it would have been either the 4000 or 6000, for the "best bang for the buck". I purchased my IP6000D at Best Buy for 125.00 (box was open) normally 179.99 the IP4000 was 119.99 normaly 149.99.

Summary: Fantastic Printer!
Review: I just purchased this printer through Amazon on 2/1/05 and think it is amazing. I wasn't able to find many reviews on this printer through CNet or ePinions.com but decided to purchase it anyways based on what reviews I had read. I am very pleased with my decision!

The picture quality is superb, just as good if not better than prints you would receive from a lab. The photography buffs here at work don't beleive I printed them myself!

Setup was super easy, but buy yourself a USB cable from an etailer on ebay or somewhere else. I went to my local Radio Shack and they charged $25.00 for a cable I could have purchased online for $7.00 :(

Ink is also purchased at low cost online, and having six opaque cartriges versus one or two multi-cartriges will certainly reduce ink replacement costs over time.

Back to the printer. I have printed 20-25 pictures so far and cannot begin to tell yo how easy the Canon software is to use. I bought this printer for my wife who wants to convert all our digital pictures into a picture album, so she insisted on buying a high-quality printer that was really easy to use.

The software that comes with the printer hits the bullseye. The editing capabilities are only so-so when compared to other software, however printing pictures proved to be really easy for the "PC Challenged" in my household. The software comes with a 3-step process that makes printing high-quality phots a snap.

Along with our purchase we bought a 120 pack of Canon high-gloss 4x6 borderless photo paper. This paper has the exact same look-feel, quality as the paper we receive from our local photo lab (Overlake Photo)

This printer comes highly recommended from me!

Summary: Great, simple printer
Review: I think this printer offers good value, esp given that it uses six inks; many printers in this price range only have 3-4 inks. I guess because it is not very compact. I got this for my parents who are not very computer savvy, to let them print their own pictures. I use a website to upload pictures to print (which I think is still the best value), but I just cannot see them doing that. The printer is great because it doesn't even have to be connected to the computer (another potential problem for them). Using the memory card slot is faster than the pictbridge connection. Now they print pictures on their own, instead of the pictures being in their camera for eons.

Thank you to all the previous reviewers who helped me choose to buy this printer. I liked the point about being able to replace individual ink colors separately. I am very happy with my decision.

Summary: Awesome printer
Review: I use this printer to print both black & white as well as color photos. It is the finest photo printer that I have used to date. Photos from my Nikon D70 as well as restored antique photos look great when printed from the Canon iP6000D. Couldn't be happier!

Summary: quality photos
Review: I've always been hesitated about buying a photo printer; I finally took a chance with this canon pixma 6000 photo printer. I've read different reviews, at first I was debating on the hp printer but I've read that it doesn't work with the operating system XP, and has only one block of ink cartridge. That's what made me decided on the canon, for the fact it had separate cartridges, so if one color runs out u just replace that one and don't have to toss the rest of them out. For the picture quality, I found it to be a high quality photo that you would get when you take it somewhere. I found that the canon printer should only use the canon paper to print on for the best quality picture. The setup it rather simple you don't need brain work. I find it to be worth the money.

Summary: very good printer and customer service, but a few oversights
Review: Naturally, when you are spending over $150 on a photo printer, you expect an excellent result. This printer delivers. The results when printed on photo paper are indistinguishable from a professionally developed photograph in most instances.

I had some problems getting the printer to work initially; it was dead on arrival. This is where I decided I would discover what kind of company I was dealing with. I called canon and was, within five minutes, being told I would have a new printer overnighted to me. It arrived and worked beautifully.

Not only did it arrive, it came with a fully paid return shipping label and instructions that I could keep all of the extra ink (around $70 worth), the extra print head, the free samples of photo paper that came with the printer etc

I do have four complaints with the printer. First, I have found, that if one is printing extremes of white light on a human face, it tends to print out as a large white splotch rather than a finely graded result. The result looks somewhat like the person was heavily sweating and had a lot of glare; this is my main complaint.

Second, the printer requires a USB cable to connect to your computer but does not have one packaged with it. Radioshack supplied me with one for around five dollars; surely canon could have put one in the box.

Third, I have a dual boot computer that runs on windows and linux. Setting up this printer was easy in windows and the software it comes with makes it a breeze to print pictures on any size paper. However, canon has no linux support. If I had known this beforehand, I might have actually gone with an equivalent Hewlett Packard printer as HP has a lot of linux support.

Fourth, the software it comes with deals only with .jpg files. If you have something in any other format, for example, you have to have a separate program that can convert it into .jpg format. These are easily available over the web, but it seems like a reasonable oversight that canon doesn't support anything else out of the box.

My absolute favourite feature of this printer is the clear ink cartridges: this was what initially made me consider canon above anyone else. The fact that I can see how full the print cartridges are is a wonderfully liberating feature; I can actually SEE what's going on in there. Combined with the fact that each colour is an individual cartridge and very inexpensive, canon have a winning idea here.

In summary, I have to say I am extremely pleased with my purchase. None of the above complaints is anything major, probably the worst is the lack of a USB cable which is easily correctable; I imagine you could order one through amazon so it is delivered simultaneously.

Summary: Great features and good value.
Review: This is a great printer. It was incredibly easy to setup.
Within 15 mins of getting it out of the box I was holding my first print.

The quality of the print was very good (greens were a little weak). I used epson's glossy photo-paper. To my eye there was little difference to canon's paper. The fact that you don't have to turn on your PC to print out your snaps is a real plus. Also the ability to hook-up to your camera, PDA, Cell Phone or just plug in the CF or SD card is a great feature, particualrly as I prefer to use Linux and no driver is available yet.

Good value, with a nicely thought-out easy to use feature set.

Summary: Pro's or Con's?
Review: This is an awesome printer! I purchased this because of the high reviews on this site in hopes that everyone knew what they were talking about:)
It prints quickly with high quality results. I currently only have it hooked up to a digital camera (not PC) for the very purpose of using it for photo shoots. If you are one to worry about weight, this printer is not the best option because it is bulky and a bit heavy.
Although you may use any PictBridge compatible printer, I purchased this with the Olympus D540 3.2 (purchased on this site). The both are compatible and lower in cost. I paid under $400 for the pair so check out the Olympus D540 if you're wanting to get a a quality set (printer and camera).
