Summary: I was pleasantly surprised
Review: I purchased the i560 under protest, my BJC-2000 finally died and I needed a new printer NOW! I first checked my ink supplier to see which inks were the least expensive, Bingo, 1.09 each for the i560. I read the reviews and was concerned about the noise level. Not to worry! It is not that noisy at all! And the print quality! I am so impressed with the quality and the speed of printing. Documents came out crisp and sharp, it came with sample picture paper and on a whim I printed out a copy of a 40 year old black and white picture. WOW the quality was superb! I would have given it 5 stars but it did not come with the printer cable and so I had to use my old parallel to hook it up. Shame on Canon. My Canon scanner came with the cable and the printer should have too! But all in all, a great purchase at a great price!

Summary: Great Printer - Great Value!
Review: Really needed a new printer since our old NEC laser would not work with our newer PC and XP. I did some research and narrowed it down to two printers: the Canon i560 and the Epson C-84. We don't need anything fancy, just a good solid printer to do quality text and prints. After a couple of months of reading the Amazon reviews on both printers, we decided to go for the Canon and ordered it here. Received it two weeks ago and am extremely pleased. The setup was so simple it was up and running in about 5 minutes. While I think that Canon should include the USB cable, the cost was minimal so can't complain. So far everything we have printed has come out perfect - from text to photos. Very pleased with the speed too! I highly recommend the Canon i560 to anyone looking for a great printer that is a GREAT value for the price!

Summary: Incredible Results with Canon i560
Review: I purchased this a few weeks ago. I am blown over by the quality of the photos printed. I hooked it up to the computer with my usb cable and the photos print up quickly.

I can't imagine any better quality than the 8x10 and 4x6 photos that come from this printer.

Using the Canon Pro Glossy paper produces an amazing product. I used some other paper and the quality was not quite as good. I bought more Canon Pro Glossy paper and recommend it highly.

Photos developed by Ofoto are fine, but this printer and the right paper outdo the photo lab.

Summary: Why, oh why, no cable? Best Buy almost ripped me off!
Review: The printer is fine, no problems. Well thought-out. Nice drivers, really nice. Photos OK, nothing photo-quality about inkjets anyway.

But why don't printers come with cables? Seriously, whaa? Do they think we just have a few laying around? Our family has a cable they've been passing down for generations? I don't get it. Somebody explain it to me.

Luckily I'm not a rookie. I know how much a standard USB Male A to Male B cable should cost Heck, you can get 'em free lots of times. They end up in corporate trash piles by the hundred. Anyone who's been a geek for five years has at least one spare.

The salesperson at best Buy, in addition to directing our attention to the next-expensive model immediately upon learning I was interested in the i560, was very flippant about my insistence that the i560 was a great printer under $100 and very competitive beyond ("Well, yeah, if all you're gonna spend is $100. But if you print any photos at all, blah blah blah... USB 1.1 in this card-reader-equipped printer will be faster than an internal USB 2.0 reader, ya know, and even if it isn't this one's a better printer....). Initially we walked away from buying a printer at all because of the sour salesperson experience.

I get to the checkout and the clerk asked me if I was planning on buying a cable. I did a double-take. "Cable? There's not a connectivity cable inside the box?" He replies that's been standard practice for years. I replied that it reflects poorly on the industry when I can't immediately use a product for its intended purpose, even shareware is free for a little while, and why then would they even come with ink? This last question ACTUALLY PRODUCED A HESITATION as if I had hit on another millions-saving measure and he would report it to Canon posthaste.

I jogged back to the printer aisle to check on their cable selection when I was accosted by the same printer salesperson who laughed when I told him I needed a cable. "Walked up there without me, eh?" were his exact words. He shows me a cable - their cheapest - a $30 shielded and gold-plated 12-footer from Monster. "This is the only one we have, and it's really the best for your particular printer," he smarmed. I conjectured it must be best for all the stores printer's since it was the only one. I asked him if he would sell the cable to a poor person buying a budget $50 printer to print resumes. I argued it shouldn't take an additional %33 of the printer's cost just to hook it up. He basically looked down his nose at me so I simply laughed in his face. I said very loudly, "I'll go two blocks to CompUSA, buy a cable for four dollars, and come back tomorrow to speak with the manager."

When I arrived home I immediately checked the Web and indeed found a four-dollar cable at CompUSA and one with neat little LEDs for eight. I opened the printer box and saw a CD full of halfware photo programs I would immediately toss, and wondered aloud: if Canon can't spend fifty cents for a wholesale USB cable to throw in the box, why do I have to pay for the ubiquitous bundle of useless software and "starter" packet of photo paper?

Summary: A great printer at a great price
Review: I just got this printer last week and I could not believe the borderless 4x6 prints that come out. The look just as good as the photos from the lab. I had a Lexmark z42 which the cartridges are expensive and the print quality was not that good anymore. The other great thing is the 4x6 glossy paper thru amazon is like $4 or $5 cheaper than Best Buy or Circuit City. Get a couple packages and the shipping is free too. If you want a good, inexpensive printer, this is the one.

Summary: Good results, Fast, Inks Cheap :)
Review: My HP 882C was still working great, kinda slow and it was really buggin me the way ink refills were almost $50. Time to get something that doesn't cost nearly $100 for both colour/black ink at the same time. Enter the Canon i560. This baby's fast, more quiet, inks about $20 for black and $20 for each of the 3 colour tanks. This is cool because you can just buy the colour that ran out instead of a complete tri-colour cartridge like my old HP.

Borderless printing on prints with Canon's Easy Photo Print software. Easy web page printing with Canon's Easy Web Print software that intergrates itself with IE.

4x6 prints turned out awesome in less than 30 secs, text came out crisp and black. Only con was the printer is a bit expensive at $149. When all was done and said...tax and extended warrenty that gives me free replacement for 2yrs the whole deal was just shy of $200cdn.

Summary: CAN'T GO WRONG WITH CANON
Review: I purchased this printer to replace my Canon S520. That one did a excellent job on photos.Started to have some trouble with that one's printhead and decided it was time for a new printer. I use the S520 still for printing emails. The i560 set up was no problem. The pictures come out excellent. I print a lot of 8X10's and they all look great. I had just purcased an i460 for my son and that also does a wonderful job. But that model has a card reader built in. While the i560 does not. I have used both canon and Kodak glossy paer in the S520 with great results. Have only used the Canon Pro paper in the i560 with the same results. The thing I like best about Canon is the fact the inks are cheap to buy and always easy to find. I have had to deal in the past with there tech support via email and got answers to my questions in less then 1 day. I am now checking out the i860 model. I run more then 1 computer at a time so I can be online and be editing photos or movies at the same time. Might move the S520 to a old Gateway and the i560 to the Emachine. Then hook up a i860 to the new computer I had built just for video editing. Have also had the best of luck with 2 Canon scanners a N1240U and a new 3200F.

Summary: Very Satisfied
Review: Just recieved my printer today. Have been using an HP 950C which prints really nice photos. I am amazed at the quality of the photos I just printed on the Canon. They are even better than the HP and text is far better. Super easy set-up without a single glitch. I was skeptical based on it's price, but now I am just amazed. Only time will tell if it passes the test-of-time. Being a perfectionist, I normally would not give out a 5 star rating, but this is certainly an exception. If I have problems with it later, this rating would obviously be less. Also, I love the software. Most software for photo work is overloaded with useless features & complicated screens. The printing software (Easy Photo Print) is fantastic: simple, straight-forward, and just the right amount of options. I almost bought the next model up for another $100, I am very glad for the reviews that I read here before I did that. Everyone was right about this great printer. Way to go Canon!

Summary: Great printer at a most reasonable price
Review: While I thoroughly enjoy writing reviews I am not ordinarily in the business of reviewing office equipment. I decided to make an exception here. Simply stated, the Canon i560 is the best printer I have ever used at my home. In the past, I have had a HP and several Epson printers. I found that the Epson printers were extremely noisy and gobbled up ink like there was no tomorrow. Since I had never owned any product from Canon I thought this would be a great opportunity to give them a try. I was not disappointed!!! The i560 is whisper quiet and is real easy on the ink. I especially love the three seperate color ink jets. In the long run, it is much more economical. All in all, this one is a great buy. I would heartily recommend it!!

Summary: The perfect printer
Review: I was trying to find a good cheap printer and i came across this one. it is the greatest investment i have ever made. it prints the greatest pictures and it prints them pretty quick. It also prints black really fast. it takes it a minutes to get going, but then it is like it just zooms on. It is easy to set up and great to play with. I would suggest this printer to everyone because of the quality of the prints.
