Summary: Great Sound, Great Price
Review: I'll keep this short and sweet...you won't find better sound quality for this price anywhere else.

Summary: great sound, but subwoofer very problematic
Review: The sound is great, but I broke two subwoofers within the first three months of ownership. They're willing to replace it, but it costs about $$$ to mail the speaker system back to Altec Lansing. I'm not sure if other people have had similar problems, but I've decided to stay away from Altec for now.

Summary: AS GOOD AS THESE THINGS GET, BUT..
Review: One hearing of these magnificent speakers and you'll be sold. They sound nothing less than a meek Marantz, and the subwoofer is sharp and thumpy. 621 series is a little bulkier than 5100 series, and is priced for the mass market. This means some of the bells and whistles have been dropped. Some of my gripes:

- The speakers are bulkier than other offerings from Sony or Lansing itself.

- The dial to manage bass levels is not on the remote, but solely at the back of the subwoofer. This is very inconvenient if you care about the treble and bass levels of a variety of music (my mp3 collection, for instance, has a wide range of music and some songs dont cut it by thumping away).

- There is NO HEADPHONE JACK! This one is a little incredible, almost every device manufactured these days related to sound has a headphone jack!

Despite my minor grouses though, the 621 speakers rock for the purpose that they are meant for -- super stereophonic sound on a showstring. You cannot go wrong with Altec.

Summary: Great sounds - pity about the remote
Review: Great sounds - but would have lived a wireless remote.

Rich bass and a good upper range from this speaker set. The wired remote allows you to hide the main unit out of sight but IR pickups on the satellite speakers would have provide the same functionality.

Summary: Running Wild
Review: Alright, let me put it to you this way. if you are looking for michael jordan's precision, barry bond's power, and vin diesel's muscles, this speaker system would be the closest representation of that in the music world. and that's not even mentioning that it will only require a rookie's salary to get it.
1. the sound clarity is a 4 out of 5. unless you are a total audiophile and you can hear every little detail, i dont think you'll find any faults with this system's precise sounds. the low-range sounds may be a tiny bit weaker than the mid and higher range sounds but you will have to be concentrating real hard on trying to hear those sounds to actually notice. besides, it's got a computer case sized subwoofer, just turn your bass up to 3 or 4 on the remote and you won't notice.
2. don't even think this thing won't have enough power for you unless you are almost deaf, and in that case, im sorry to hear that. anyway, holy cow, there is a max of 5 on the volume dial, i usually listen to my music at the middle part of dial 1. i turned it up to 4 once and it pretty much just rattled the walls. i live in a pretty decent sized house with at least 10 - 15 yards separating my house from the next. but i am pretty sure the people in that house heard the songs clearly.
3. these speakers are huge. as i mentioned before, the sub is about the same size as my computer case. and the 4 other speakers are all about the size of half a college text book. it is kind of big for a dorm room or a smaller room but it's also the size that's creating that massive sound.
4. the wires arent really that short, some reviews i've read have mentioned that. but if you are planning on putting this speaker system in a dorm room, a computer room, or a bedroom, you shouldnt have any problems. now if its a family room or living room, get more wires from some electronics store.
5. the wired remote got some disapprovals from some reviewers on here. true, it would be really cool if altec did come out with a wireless remote. but these remotes have long enough lines for you to be able to be somewhat far away from the computer and still be able to use it. so, even though in a perfect world it would be wireless, the current remote fills most people's needs. .....
so if you are looking for a computer speaker system in the $$$$ price range and you want the most power and a whole lot of clarity, i recommend these strongly. only reason y i gave it 4 stars is because it's not perfect. but nothing is perfect to me, im such a perfectionist i would probably only give a top notch
BMW a 4.5 out of 5. and that's only $$$$$ dollars more right.

Summary: I'll NEVER buy another brand again!!!
Review: This speaker system is AWESOME! The sound quality is excellent. It's the best sound that I have heard and so realistic, it's like you're right there, whether you're listening to a CD or playing a video game. What I like best about Altec Lansing's speakers is that you can "plug and play." It lets you plug into virtually any device that produces sound and the quality of the sound is excellent. I would HIGHLY recommend this company's products and I would definitely buy from them again!

Summary: Really good for $... delivered
Review: My only regret is that I might have paid more for better upper speakers. These are very good for the price of this system, but personally, I listen mostly to classical, and I wish the top was smoother and more toneful, but it is not at all bad, just a bit thin on top, unless you simply crank it, and then there are net rock stations that will blow out the walls. Subwoofer is boss. Great bargain.

Summary: A Great Set Of Speakers!!!
Review: It's hard to imagine a better set of speakers, The satellites are so crisp and clear they sound more like a high end stereo speaker than a computer speaker, The subwoofer delivers bass that you can not only hear but you can feel, It's hard to describe the sound of these speakers without hearing them for yourself, If your looking for some high quality sound the Altec Lansing 621's are the only way to go!!!

Summary: The best I hav heard
Review: I have been using these speakers for almost a year and am still as impressed as I was the forst day that I hooked them up. These are great speakers, well worth the price. I have hear no other computer speaker that could produce such as sound stage. Superb.

Summary: The best computer speakers ever made
Review: These are the best computer speakers ever made. They are bright and bassy, which means that you hear the full range of sound. They remind me of studio speakers, which must be perfect in order to repoduce sound correctly. You hear what the artis meant for you to hear. Background sounds are clear the voices are correct and the bass tight and lots of it. I don't care about the size of the speakers when they sound this good who's cares about the size. they look great on my glass computer deskt. My desk is on wheels so making changes to the bass level is no problem, but once you get the sound just right you will leave it alone and just enjoy the great sound. If you can afford these speakers get them, because they are the best and will rock the house.
