Review: I just recieved my set Altec Lansing ACS 48's after about three days. I just have to say first off that these speakers are totally worth the money. Before I bought these speakers, I used a pair of 30 dollar no name speakers. I truly did not think that there would be that much of a difference, but it has become quite obvious that there definitely is. This unit provides so much bass that my room shakes with each thump. Also, the mid and high range is excellence, since I hear things in songs I never heard before.By the way, the technical information provided by Amazon is erroneous. The sub has 40 watts of power, and each satellite has 20 watts, totaling to 80 watts of pure power. If you have the extra money, you just have to buy these speakers. The only bad thing is that there is no treble control, and the bass control is on the back of the sub, which may be inconvenient for you. Oh yeah, and the subwoofer is quite large, so make sure you have enough room first.

Review: i love the altec lansing speakers so i bought a second set thats two sets of altecs on my desk top i like to edit music and i like a lot of power these speakers do that
unfortunatly at high volume playing they seem to pop the mids speakers and i have had trouble with the switch on the sub it has shorted out so i must now tear it apart and repair it so i am back to one set for now all in all good set of speakers though i got three years out of the first set which is good for me i like the wooden sub box better than plastic

Summary: want sound? not from these
Review: I purchased these speakers just to add sound to my computer. nothing more, nothing less. If you really want quality sound, i'd rather you go for the 3 piece altec lansing products, but if you just wanna hear occasional sounds from surfing the internet or playing 5-year old games, save some money and get these. Otherwise, anything else ranging from listening to music or playing computer games, DON'T GET THESE!!! You see, the speakers lack both treble and bass...extremely painful when listening to music...rock songs become distorted at loud volumes and piano sounds from classical music become fuzzy even at the smallest volume. Scientists have found that lower freq. (bass) sounds become distorted with plastic made speakers and sound better in wood speakers while higher freq. (treble) becomes distorted in wooden speakers and sound better in plastic speakers. With these speakers...you're lacking both. In fact the speakers itself look pretty dumb to me so, why bother? Again, don't waste you're 35 dollars, search through the Altec Lansing site (...) to look for better 3 piece speakers for better sounds. I would recommend the ATP3 flat speakers from Altec Lansing. Again, these speakers are definitly not worth the money!

Summary: Great Value, I was pleasantly surprised!
Review: I purchased these speakers mainly because I am in a budget, the
sound is great, I don't how it would stack to a 3 piece speaker system by Harman Karndon, but these have great sound, not your
average 2 piece system, I purchased these at a computer store for a little than the price here at Amazon. When I surfing the net I ran into a web page with gunfire as sound effects and darn woke up and startled the people in the house, how does that sound for a two piece speaker system!! Altec Lansing is
highly recommended if you want great sound on a budget, and then some!!!

Summary: Good Speakers for the Price!
Review: I went looking for speakers when my brother got a set with a subwoofer that went along with them. I looked all through and since I didn't have much money at the time I set my sights on this set. I recieved them and once i got it set up I was suprised by them! They do a great job for the money I paid, though I know there are better one's out there this is a good choice. The only downfall was the subwoofer had to be put off to the side and the cords barely made the distance, and it also has a lack of headphone jacks, so i can listen to the music without disturbing others.

Summary: Unbelievable Ear Candy!!!
Review: I went through about 7 different 3-piece speaker systems before I decided to give this one a try. Once I plugged these babies in the search was over! I can't believe how Clear and loud the speakers are! The huge, wooden sub can put out bass at a amazing sound level yet retain perfect bass reproduction, not only thumps of noise like other sub woofers on the market. The satellites are just incredible! The music that comes out of these satellites sound absolutely crisp and clear without any distortion at even the highest sound level. This whole system is also very quality built. I love the 2 digital buttons located on the right satellite that controls power and volume to both the satellites and subwoofer. The sub woofer also has it's own bass level control. You only have to bend down once to set it where you want and then the satellite's buttons control the volume and power from then on. I'll tell you, I look for the quality of music reproduction not just the loudness it pumps out and this system meets and exceeds both requirements! Listening to these babies is pure enjoyment :) Just remember, you always get what you pay for. You might buy a cheaper 3-piece speaker system but you'll pay for it in the long run with lousy sound and you'll just end up buying these any way. You will be extremely happy with these!

Summary: Incredible sound from a compact unit
Review: I'm the type of person who researches every aspect of a product before buying. I compare brands, specifications, and of course, looks. What I want is high performance and great sound reproduction. I finally decided on Altec's ACS48 and I'm writing this as I'm listening to them for the first time and I've got to say that they are all that I looked for. There is nothing to complain about here.

Review: I'm visiting this site because I accidently dropped a satellite speaker from my Altec Lansing ACS48 computer system and am considering whether to purchase new speakers. I came across this item and felt I should comment since I've enjoyed these speakers greatly over the year I've owned them. I bought the set from a seller on E-Bay for seventy bucks. I don't know how long he'd used them. I listen mainly to classical music at my computer. The satellite speakers are bright and clean with a clear treble and full midrange. They produce the singing voice very well. The subwoofer is weighty without being overpowering. I didn't get an instruction booklet so it took me a few minutes to figure out how to turn the speakers on and off and how to adjust volume...PLEASE NOTE as others have that there are many different systems produced (or marketed) by Altec Lansing and some are pretty mediocre. The ACS48 is EXCELLENT. You can't go wrong with this speaker set.
