Summary: soundbug
Review:  Just bought a sound bug. I listen to old time radio programs on my mp3 player.Whats cool is I can stick the soundbug onto the back of my 1940's radio and pretend It's coming over the airwaves.
It also works great at work when I need to listen to other things going on, while listening to my music. I tried it also on a large metal fileing cabinet. worked great. Sound quality is not my greatest concern. If you think it will replace your surround sound home theater you may not want it. but if you just need to get your music, without headphones. it's great. Also Its smaller than speakers, so I can carry it in my back pack.

Summary: 20 dollars canbuy 2 meals or this
Review: Basically you should decide if you want to eat rice for 2 days and then wait for this thing or just forget about it. I read about these and its sequel, the Omnivox, in Fortune Small Business magazine last week and I was fascinated.
I think these are totally worth the 20 dollars. I'll admit that i was a little worried when the suction cup broke off one of them after I tried to use it the second time, but then i discovered that that piece of metal under the suction makes an even better sound. If you're into using cheap electronics to get unique sounds-- be it old Atari STs, Gameboys, or vintage microphones; this is definately a tool to have around.
If you want to replace any speakers, read the negative reviews, or get the omnivox; i'm saving up for that now.

Summary: Sound Bug Indeed
Review: Bought this for my laptop hoping to improve the volume when playing DVDs. Unfortunately it has to be plugged into the headphone socket so the built-in speakers are muted and the sound bug's volume is poor quality and lower than the speaker volume, no matter where I place the bug. Like the concept but not the quality. For me it was money wasted.

Summary: it's good for what it's made for
Review: Hey, you're not expecting something fantastic for this. Concert hall music from this tiny little thing is a an unreasonable expectation, but i think the utility value of this device is fantastic!

just imagine, sing along or play along to songs with your church group, or when you're learning how to play a song slap it onto an acoustic guitar and play along to the music. (sounds great on an acoustic guitar, btw much better than you can imagine).

listen to news with all your friends together.

this item has some pretty low end sound quality but it all depends on the item you attach it to, a piece of glass will make the sound rather flat, but a guitar made for reflecting and amplifying soundwaves will undoubtedly give you good acoustics.

don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed! I didn't and I love it!

Summary: Cool portable device, but know its limitations
Review: I bought some of these to use as a portable guitar practice rig, with a Walkman-sized guitar preamp. They work well for what they are (something tiny so that you can listen without headphones) and I'm glad I got them. A pair work together in stereo and fit into my guitar case.

Don't expect great fidelity, though. How good they sound and how loud they are does depend on what you stick 'em to. A glass tabletop with unattached edges works well. A rigid window in my high-rise office doesn't.

Summary: It sure soundbugged me
Review: I got this on sale after seeing it at thinkgeek, and thought I had quite a steal--until I got it home.

I need to say that I am no audiophile. The free headphones that come with CD players, MP3 players, etc, are usually fine for me. I don't ask too much of my audio equipment. And, sadly, the Soundbug doesn't even measure up to that low standard.

The sound is VERY bad. It is tinny and flat. I tried using it on the following surfaces in my quest to get good sound:
-tabletop
-wall-mounted mirror
-pane of glass on door
-marble counter top
-bottom of large metal pot
-dinner plate
-bottom of large skillet
-window glass

I know this sounds like a strange collection of objects, but when the obvious "flat surfaces" didn't work, I started looking for ANYTHING flat that might work. Unfortunately, nothing did.

So, if someone gives you one, return it and get something else. If you bought one, return it. If you are stuck on a desert island with 2000 AA batteries, an MP3 player, a table and a Soundbug, then MAYBE it would be worth using.
