Summary: Factor in the cost of new headphones
Review: 'Destroy the Neodymium transducer magnets!'No, it's not a line from Star Trek. Rather, it's the first thing you'll need to do when you unpack your new iPod: throw away the supplied headphones and buy a decent pair. Although Apple says the 'New iPod headphones are smaller in size, with new Neodymium transducer magnets for enhanced bass response, smoother midrange transitions, and accurate high-end reproduction' I personally found them uncomfortable to wear, and, more to the point, poor in sound quality. Good headphones will add immensely to your satisfaction as an iPod owner. Be prepared to buy them! On the plus side, you'll get the hang of using an iPod in about 5 minutes. (It really is possible to use it with just one hand.) And if you have a Mac-iTunes-iPod system set-up, updating your digital music collection is a breeze. (Windows users now have the same ease of use, apparently.) The iPod had a battery life problem which has now been solved, although (I haven't actually timed mine) I doubt you'll get 10 hours playback from a single charge, as claimed. What about the sound? Hardly a minor issue for a music player, after all. Apple's copywriters (a group not, on the whole, given to understatement) claim that '...(the iPod's) high-output (60-mW) amplifier provides CD-quality sound with a wide dynamic range. The result? Deep, pulse-pounding bass and sharp, crystal-clear highs.' Ummmmm...yes and no. The iPod provides a good, balanced sound for most types of music, with clear (not too trebly) highs. Light jazz and acoustic guitar sound pretty good. However, its bass does lack punch to some extent. (The built-in equaliser doesn't really help.) A Sony Minidisc player (or, if you want to step back into the Jurassic analog era, even a Sony Walkman) provides much punchier, crisper sound, but then again, you don't get to carry 2,000 songs with you. Pros: Very ease to use; reliable. Clean interface. Cons: Supplied headphones are a waste of space. Wimpy bass; struggles with some genres of music. Battery not user-replaceable.

Summary: Simply the BEST
Review: A year and a half ago I bought Nomad jukebox, it was heavy, bulky, slow and sometimes it freeze like Windows. And the worst was that the batteries (4AA) doesn't last more than 3 hours...
But the 10 GB iPod... It's incredible, sounds great (it could be bettrer), the batteries last at least 8 hours. The file transfer is very fast, and even you can use it as a portable Firewire Hard Drive, Synchronisation with Jaguar (OS X10.2) is very fast and easy, just plug your iPod to your Mac and thats all. It's the BMW of MP3, everybody looks your iPod.
Don't waste your money buying other MP3 players.

Review: Before I start, I want to say that you should definitely buy the newer ipod (it just came out yesterday), because it is cheaper, and looks to be even better than mine (this one). I have had the ipod for eight months now, and it is still working perfectly well, showning just how durable it is (i have put it through quite a bit). Also, the controls are incredibly easy to learn and understand, even for the technically inept. another thing that I really like about the ipod, other than the sheer quantity of music that it holds, is the size of the screen, as well as the backlight, which is very bright. The large screen makes it wonderfully easy to see all of the information about the song. The final thing that I really love about the ipod is the fact that you canupgrade the software that it uses whenever apple comes out with a new version of the software.

Summary: iPod Revolution
Review: Before the advent of the iPod, MP3's were something peripheral to what I cared about. Who needs to download music and burn CD's when you can simply purchase them from the store legitimately? Once Apple announced the iPod, I immediately signed up to get the new flat-panel iMac. Once that came I got the iPod and converted my music collection into ~30gigs of memory. Now instead of trying to alphebatize my CD collection, I try to fit my most important music onto my 10gig iPod, create music lists that match any occasion or capture any mood, etc. The iTunes software is born for freaks like me, you can create smartlists that automatically choose songs of any genre, any star rating, play count and lets you listen to it. It also updates the list everytime another song matches that category. I spend hours going through every song I own to rate it 1-5 stars, and creating playlists that automatically select groups of my rated songs. The coolest thing in the iPod is that you can play songs randomly by artist, by genre, by album, or by individual song. I almost can't wait for songs to end to find out what song is next. A definite necessity for anyone interested in music and finding creative methods for bringing songs that you own to life. An additional note, I just happened to buy the 10 gig two months before the 20 gig came out at the same price! Bummer. I would walk everywhere with the ipod on and occasionally at work the earphone cord would get caught and rip out of my ears and the jack. Well, this did some damage to the lip of the jack, but the phones still worked so no problem. When they released the 20gig they also released a remote which I wanted. Because the jack was damaged, the remote wouldn't work and there's no way to fix the jack. The guy at the store "felt my pain" and gave me a warranty part, which happened to be a brand new unit. You can't beat this product, nor apple as a company. Your investment will be well worth it!!!

Summary: Is it the windows version, or what?
Review: Bought the IPOD for xmas. Opened it up after letting it sit for a couple of weeks to try to convince myself it was worth the price. Not crazy about the way the downloads take place, but after you work out the nuances, downloads work pretty well. I've read the reviews about how reliable the player is, that it doesn't freeze up like windows computers do. Guess mine is the exception that makes the rule. I have the IPOD for Windows and it freezes up all the time. When I use it for long walks at a brisk pace, I'm constantly having to reset. On today's 1 1/2 walk, it froze up on me 4 times. I love being able to carry all that music, but if this is a persistent problem, I'm going back to the mini-disk.

I have 123 albums( 1775 songs) on my Ipod with 36.9 MB of space left. If I had a larger music selection I would go for the 20 Gig Ipod. Overall I am very happy with this item

Review: I recently received the 10GB iPod as a gift--I hadn't bought it myself because I'm somewhat of a technophobe. But this is the EASIEST device in the world to use! The day I received it, I quickly figured out all the controls, how to download my contacts and iCal calendar into it, and how to customize the settings to suit me. If you have iTunes on your Mac, the music there uploads automatically to the iPod just by connecting the FireWire. You don't have to do anything! If you want to customize the music list, that's another step, but it's VERY easy to do. If you travel a lot, I think this is the ideal way to carry not only your music, but all your contacts. No, you can't update the contacts or iCal directly on the iPod, as you might with a Palm Pilot or similar device. But you have access to all your important info, which is great. Plugging it into an A/C outlet is simple--there's no huge recharging unit, just a tiny plug that's easy to pack in your suitcase or briefcase. Since you can recharge either by connecting iPod to your computer or to an A/C outlet, recharging the unit--even on the road--is a snap. The sound is phenomenal, the battery life definitely meets expectations, and the ease of downloading songs, customizing the unit, and recharging the battery is amazing. I can't recommend this highly enough!! Friends who have seen mine and tried it out are already buying their own. This is the king of MP3 players!

Summary: iPod Rocks!!!
Review: I've had this new iPod for a month now and I LOVE IT!!!! It is small, sleek and well designed. I take it everywhere with me and at the touch of a button, I have my entire library of Mp3's at hand. I use the belt clip when I go running. When plugged into my computer, it syncs beautifully and no effort is needed. I've had other Mp3 players in the past and this is by far THE BEST!!! It is worth every penny that I paid for it.

Review: If you're in the market for an MP3 player, this is the one to get. I realize the price is a bit more than others, and may seem overpriced when features are compared, but it really is not. The interface is flawless, and is far easier to use than any other player I have tried. Also, it's ability to act as an external hard drive could prove very useful for you. It's FireWire connectivity makes for extremely fast downloads of songs and data, unlike many USB competitors. This is definitely the player you want. Plus, it just looks cool.
