Summary: I would have given it 0 stars if it were possible
Review: This very expensive MP3 player, cobranded by the reborn Napster company and South korea's Samusng, is best described as a very poor and expensive player. It uses a hard disk, but even the 30GB Apple iPod is much cheaper and looks and works 500 times better. Case in point: the central button on this thing is unmarked and at first you won't figure out what to do. The manual is as good as written in Koran so it's difficult to understand. Worst of it all, the volume is pathetically low, and I was able to crash the player once by simply loading a few indie songs sent by my friends in Europe. I had to let the battery die out to restart the player. This is just ridiculous. Oh, finally, don't bother with the FM radio; there's constant interference and reception is just horrible. I can't believe they charge so much for this alpha test player. If you want good hard drive-based MP3 player, go with the iPod or if you have less money try RCA or Creatve Labs. Don't get this ugly product that just doesn't work at all.

Summary: Definately consider this player
Review: If you're looking for an mp3 player, definately check this thing out! There's nothing that any other company has that this doesn't.
Several major plusses: 1.)The napster samsung player is fully compatible with the napster online service. Napster is, by far, the best, and most user friendly music store on the web, and, you can organize your entire music collection directly from it.
2.) Most mp3 players have a similar setup, and Napster is no exception. It's as easy to use, and find songs on as anything.
3.) The Napster player comes with more stuff!! It has an fm reciever, recorder and transmitter all in one. I haven't tried to use the transmitter, but the reciever and recorder are just great! You may have a little trouble finding radio stations though. But this is explainable. Any radio needs an antenna, or something to recieve radio waves. The player is really small. I found that the earphone wires serve as an excellent reciever, and now get perfect reception. Also, with any other mp3 player (cough, cough, Ipod!) fm recievers cost a lot more money!
4.) The last thing is the price. It's not hard to find deals that save you about 100 dollars more than other twenty GB players. The basic needs of an mp3 player are all here, plus extra goodies, that come with the player, and yet you can still save lots of money! From my own experiance with this player, it's easily recommendable!

Summary: Good Looks, good value - but still a lot more to be done
Review: This player offers good features, at a good price. But I am very disappointed in the lack of some basic features/functions: 1) You cannot create/manage playlists from the player. Playlists can only be created and managed from the PC, and then copied to the player where it actually recopys the songs to the player - a very dumb and time-wasting thing. 2) For some reason, the tracks I setup in playlists stopped displaying the Album names after I transfered the playlists to the player 3) You cannot queue multiple selections (albums, genre, artists) to play. Only one selection can be queued at a time. The only way to achieve this is by creating playlists (yeah..right!) 4) The Now Playing screen does not use the space well to display the Album and Track details - a lot of space is wasted with animated wave effects, and poor fonts size. You end up with a cramped area and very difficult-to-read scrolling text. What were the design guys thinking? I read a lot of reviews, and concur on most of the pet peeves about the weak FM tuner and transmiter, but I still think that the player could still be great without the playlist limitations. When you use a player a lot in the field, it justs irkes you when you have to run back to the PC for every little change. I am hoping that the folks at Samsung realize very soon that they have a potentially great product and provide the necessary firmware upgrade to address these limitations. I do not see how having Napster provide the software can be in their best interest; as Napster is interested in selling songs, not MP3 players. Otherwise, I feel I may have to shop around for a more friendly/usable player soon.

Summary: It's All Good...Except for that FM Transmitter
Review: The new Napster, now that they have the kinks out, kicks the Apple site's little fanny. Format, selection, speed, downloading, etc...just one very good site. For ten bucks a month you can listen to just about everything, including programed "radio" stations...you only pay if you want to burn or transfer to your portable. Enter the Samsung Napster player. The Napster player, once they solved that freeze-up glitch -- and the new models have fixed it completely -- works like a charm. This little 20-gig number can be had for about $270 from some sites, so shop around. But if you buy it, you'll get a very nice package indeed. Great sound, better than Ipod to my ears, with the same good set of 'phones. Easy, basic navigation, for those of us who are not interested in programming our little jukeboxes (we just want to listen to 'em). Excellent little holster for wearing while walking or working out, with all the key controls easy to get to without looking...especially nice large volume control on the side, for when your shuffle mix seques from Bach to bass 'n' drums. This is my 10th mp3 portable...and by far the best of the hard drive players I've used. The seamless integration with the great Napster site is just a big plus. That FM transmitter??? What were they thinking? Almost completly non functional. If you want to listen in your car, buy a better transmitter. Or, better yet, run a little patch cord from the headphone jack to a female auxiliary on your auto's head unit. If you don't have one, your friendly local car stereo expert can install one for about $50 max. Otherwise, the Napster Player is highly recommended...and available at a big bargain right now if you shop. Especially if you'll be buying tunes online, this one makes a great deal of sense.

1. FM transmitter (not radio receiver)is too weak, sometimes the sound quality is worse than AM radio (6 foot range between car antenna and unit if you are lucky)
2. The FM transmitter is especially degraded while charging in vehicle 3. I have been unsuccessful in attempts to remove music from the unit.
4. No ability to creat playlists without hooking unit back up to computer. Impression: I don't care for Apple products much my friends IPOD seems to work much better for my purposes

Review: The Napster Samsung was the first player Ive bought,and I have been using it now for 4 months. I have not had ANY problems with this unit. Dont believe this crap about uploading only with napster software, I have used my musicmatch, media player and the napster software to upload with and all have worked fine. With any players storage size you will have some used for the operating software, so as it states a 20g you only get about 17.5g for storage. Battery will last for 10 hours of continious play with a recharge in a couple hours.(let the player go dead for full recharge) Fm will only pick up a very strong station,Fm transmitter works ok. Remote works well for what it can do,mostly for volume adjustments. The only problem was the headphones,will not stay in ears so upgrade to a pair of sony's . For the price of this player compared to what else is out there you cant go wrong !

Summary: WMA will be around longer than Apple!
Review: Just read the ridiculous Mac mentality pro ipod review. it says not to buy the Samsung Napster player because Apple is going to put Napster out of business!.
Even if this Mac fantasy were to come true, its irrelevant to the player's usefulness. Any songs that you buy in WMA format will continue to play on the Samsung Napster player (and the more than 400 other players made by Gateway,Dell, Rio,Iriver etal). You can also easily transfer WMA files to mp3 files using Roxio or Real Player software. If you have bought the WMA files they are untethered and do not require any authentication from Napster or any other service. The Napster Samsung player is far superior to the ipod and for the price you get far more features (fm tramsmitter and recording capabilities)
The Ipod is a closed system that does not function with WMA.

Summary: Excellent MP3 player
Review: Look - it's inevitable, so let's get the comparisons to the iPod out of the way right away. This is not quite as stylish; you cannot create playlists on the fly or play games; and...and... Right. If you are buying an MP3 player to be stylish, you are kind of weird anyway and form over function is a poor choice in technology. If you want to play games, get a cell phone with games or something. IF, however, you want an MP3 player that plays MP3s and WMAs, has massive storage capacity, is lightweight, offer easy control of functions, and at least for me has so far worked flawlessly, look here. iPods are overpriced. Simple fact. Plunk down the money for an iPod and you get a pretty little piece of mp3 player that can't play WMAs, gets annoyed if you try to circumvent iTunes, and has a battery that will most likely die on you in a few months (look it up, it's true). Oh, but that's ok - it's backed up by Apple's legendary customer service. By which I mean atrocious and feared customer "service." Get the Samsung. It's a good player. I admit that the FM transmitter is wimpy, but I didn't buy it to play mp3s in my car - and even if I want to, I have a tape adaptor from my satellite radio that works fine with the headphone-out jack on the YEPP. FM reception is great and you can record directly from another digital source with the line-in jack...and they include the cable! (something iPods do not), along with a (albeit meagre) carrying case, FM transmitter antenna, surprisingly decent earbuds, and the USB cable. Go ahead and get it - I highly recommend.

Summary: this player is not good
Review: this player continually has problems uplaoding mp3 files from the "propreitary" Napster software and it constantly freezes up, i've sent it back to Amazon once and got another one- and the one I got did the same thing! - also the FM transmitter to the car radio doesn't even come close to working - this player doesn't do anything it claims to do but frustrate the user- there have been many times i've thought about throwing the thing against a wall after it freezes up for the upteenth time on the treadmill -I should have gotten something else

Summary: Very cool player
Review: Was pretty impressed with the player. Have an IPOD, but missed the extra stuff - fm radio for the health club, fm transmitter. The FM transmitter is a little weak, but it does play quite well in the car. The FM radio reception is strong also picks up a lot of stations, that other portable radio's never do (KROQ in LA is crystal clear) The only weak point is the navigation, the song selector dial is on the side and sometimes it takes 2 tries to change the song, but liveable when you have got playlists.
