Summary: I hear a loud hissing sound
Review: "the CD motor started making a loud hissing sound when playing CD's that made the unit unusable for CD playback." says another reviewer..mine does too...DON'T THESE ELECTRONICS COMPANIES REALIZE THAT THEIR BRAND NAME IS AFFECTED BY ANY PRODUCT THEY MAKE...DOES SONY ACTUALLY THINK THAT I'LL BUY A $... TV FROM THEM IF THERE'S TROUBLE WITH THEIR $...RADIO?

Summary: Stylish but tinny music quality
Review: Bought for kitchen. Looks great, but sound is tinny. Plays my CDR/RWs fine. I don't have the hissing that other reviewers have mentioned. Hard to tune into what few radio stations I can get here.

Wish I'd bought a bulky, but good sounding boombox.

Summary: Too Quiet
Review: Even turned up to the maximum, couldn't hear it well when there was much background noise. For example, trying to hear a Mariner's game while at a parade. Couldn't hear adequately even when no bands were passing by.

Gave the unit to charity and looking to buy another.

Summary: Poor sound, low volume
Review: I bought this CD play thinking it would be ideal to take on vacations but found the sound quality to be poor and the volume low. In addition the CD mechanism is flimsy. (One good point -- the radio reception is excellent.)

If you're looking for a lightweight travel solution I suggest a Walkman and travel speakers -- the Sony SRS-T77 Travel Speakers are quite good.

Summary: Nice design, but useless for playing CDs
Review: I bought this unit to use at work, so the size and design are what actually sold it. Unfortunately, I cannot play CDs in it anymore because of the annoying clicking noise they make when playing. The radio reception isn't too great either (that may just be my office and not a reflection of the player), so it ends up just collecting dust on my desk. I won't buy another similar product from Sony.

Summary: Love it!!
Review: I have this Radio/CD player for over a year now, I use it at work, every day for over 8 hrs a day, and never had problems with it. We have 3 of this at work and they all work fine. No hissing or CD problems at all. I conected my to a pair of cheap computer speakers and the sound is amazing. That is why 2 co-worker asked me to get them one ea. they love theirs to and everybody that hears them comment on how good it sound, specially for the size and design.
Mine and one of the ones I got for a cooworker, are refurbished and they sound and work excellent.I guess we got lucky.
I am looking to buy one more at a good price for home now.

Summary: The best of many we tried...
Review: I looked at 5 different small CD players for use by my father, who lives in very small quarters in an assisted living facility. The sound needed to be the best I could find for the size, which had to be very small, and the buttons had to be simple enough so that he could learn to use the controls by touch, since he is blind with macular degeneration. This little wonder of a machine is perfect! He now enjoys listening to music from the early 1900s, and looks, at the age of 97, like a kid who has been given the best new toy while he operates the machine without assistance! Thank you Sony, and thank you Amazon, and thank you Crutchfield for getting this little player to us!
