Summary: Not a happy camper
Review: I have to admit I was attracted to this Boom Box because of thegreat price for the features you get...but 60 days after purchasing it the CD player went capootz on me and now I have to try to find a dealer in my area or a Sony manufacturer to fix the problem. Something tells me that "great price" won't be so great after I get a quote to have it repaired. Watch out!

Review: I just got this unit. . . It had a better sound than anything evenclose to the price. The mega bass and tone control are very useful, and this is one of the only boomboxes in this range with a shuffle feature.

Summary: Very impressive
Review: I'm surprised the Amazon editorial review rated the sound of this boom box so poorly, because it was the sound quality that convinced me to buy it. I haven't changed my mind, and haven't regretted buying this machine.

I'm very impressed by the richness of music played through this unit, especially CD and (surprisingly) cassette tape. It has good midrange and depth. The stereo separation is poor, mainly because the speakers are so close together. The "mega bass" button does a good job increasing the bass, but it's not so noticeable when playing classical music or when listening to pop via FM radio. I always use it when playing compact discs. The tone control's effect is more modest, but still useable and useful.

The cassette player plays with surprisingly little hiss, especially considering there's no Dolby noise reduction.

Music from FM radio stations sounds a bit thin, and clearly inferior to music from CD. The "mega bass" option has little effect improving this.

So overall, a great little boom box with good sound quality. I originally intended owning this machine for a short period and then selling it, but now it's a keeper.

Summary: A must have
Review: This is a must-have for techies around the world. Yet, it's simlicity to use makes it easy to operate even if you are (no-offence) a grand-ma. 0f course I've always been a Sony fan.
