Summary: top-grade casette player (with the price to match)
Review: All you could ever want in a Walkman! If you are like me and seek for the best model of anything, well search no more. This little power plant has it all. Here are some features that I found to stand out about the competition

Pros - Extremely Powerful Audio - Good Control - Quality Feel, Nicely Designed - Virtually the size of a cassette, Small - Great Sound and Functions - Outstanding Radio Reception

Cons - No belt clip

There is also another model "WW-GX670" That has all of these great functions and records as well. Yes, it will record either the sound around you or a song from the radio. It is truly amazing for such a small unit. Sony has done it again with models GX-671 and GX-670. Truly remarkable electronics that will have your friends asking, "where did you get that!" These models aren't available in most retails stores either, I have checked. You will not be disappointed!

Summary: Cool, Compact, Efficient...Perfect.
Review: I had an early version of this Sony walkman...but it was so small and slippery that i kept dropping it and it eventually fell apart...

which led me to this baby.

it's amazing.

I've had it for two months now and am still not done exploring all its functions.

The radio is strong...you won't have to worry about getting fuzzy reception like on cheaper portables.

the tape player is excellent as well...

It has a strong metal shell so you won't have to worry about dropping it.

and a cool battery power indicator so you'll never run out of back-up juice.

The only thing I'd like it to have is a clip or some waist attachment...it comes with a black carrying bag but I don't think anybody will use it.

It's just about perfect...

Summary: Not up to Sony's standards
Review: I have owned many Sony products over the years. This is the first one I have owned that not only does not work properly but which with Sony customer service has been most unhelpful. I ordered one in November 2001 and when it arrived it had paint chipped off the case and did not play properly. It was replaced with a new unit in December (I had to wait for the credit to be applied to my card and then re-order. Sony would not ship me a new model once they had received my damaged one). It lasted less than a month before it developed a dragging sound when playing tapes. It was sent for service, had a motor, clutch and belt replaced. The evening it was returned to me it kept switching back and forth between play and auto rev and then ate a tape.

While the small size and the rechargable battery would be a definite plus if the machine functioned, at this price I consider the WMFX671 not only to be a bad buy, but the worse Sony product I have ever owned.

Review: I wondered about paying this much for a walkman. I no longer have doubts. This walkman is the most wonderful small electronic I've ever had.

Summary: top-grade casette player (with the price to match)
Review: My unit is about 3 years old, and it has proved to be an extremely durable and reliable piece of equipment. The tape logic mechanism is as sophisticated as a VCR - you get song search, blank space skip & full reverse. The model I have also has an LCD remote, which I found very useful (I'm not sure if otherwise identical WM-FX671 comes with one though). This Walkman is very slim and is a pleasure to carry. I don't find the external battery unit to be a problem (maybe because I haven't dropped my unit on the floor ;)

The price may be high for a cassette player these days, when you can get a great Sony CD-Mp3 player for 100 bucks, but if you have a lot of tapes that you're not ready to dump, this player will be a good choice. Highly recommended. I give it 4 stars because of the price, which really could be lower (I paid about the same for mine 3 years ago, and it didn't seem to get much cheaper since then).

Summary: Not the greatest thing since sliced bread
Review: This walkman is a big dissapointment. First of all the recharchable battery does not last nearly as long as they say it does. So, I found my self using a regular AA battery more often than not. Since the lab over at sony came up with the idea that the unit should be small, the AA battery has to be used with this goofy cheap piece of plastic that sits on the outsideo of the unit. I dropped it several times and this cheap plastic piece busted.

It has been impossible to find a replacement for it. So now what? Use their recharchable battery? By the way, a replacement for the recharchable is arround 20 bucks.

Another really annoying aspect to this unit is that the "touch sensitive" buttons which are used for play, rewind, fast foward, stop, or for tuning into stations, can be easily triggered unless you use the hold function.

Nevertheless, I don't know what makes this unit so special.

I gave it two stars because it is at least functional. Do not waste your money on this unit. It is way over priced.
