Summary: Some problems, yet up and running in approx. 30 minutes
Review: While I had some problems setting up (my first wireless device added to my router. Forgot I SSID broadcast turned off (oops!)).

I also couldn't get the "wizard" to recognize the server.

I called tech support (excellent) and they had me running in a few minutes.

Actually fairly painless considering some of the other print server review/horror stories I've read.

Gets a 4 mainly for not recommending you hard wire to computer first, then go wireless. Possibly would have saved the call to tech support.
Also, my print driver monitoring of ink levels is no more.

I have also read other reviews of print servers that suggest they slow printing. I printed a 20meg photo of my daughter as a trial.

I would never know the printer wasn't plugged into my machine! Took seconds to start, and the same time to print as when direct connected.

Overall, well worth the price (and considering what I've seen this listed for, it's a great price!)

Summary: Incredible Wireless Print Server!
Review: After being frustrated beyond belief with D-Link's wireless print server, I finally sent it back and just by chance happened to see Belkin's new offering, the F1UP0001 wireless print server. Without a doubt, Belkin has managed to hit a home run with this item. I was literally up and running in ten minutes. It can't get any easier. Do yourself a favor and BUY THIS NOW! Avoid the D-Link like the plague, and just go for the Belkin. It's easy to setup, 54mb instead of 11, and has two ports instead of D-Link's one.

Summary: No problems
Review: Great, right out the box. Very easy to figure out and printing within minutes.

Summary: Works great but....no WPA
Review: I bought this Print Server mainly due to the fact that it supports Wireless G and Canon printers (I have the i860). Initially had some problems with the Canon Status Monitor giving me a BSOD but soon as I turned it off, no more BSOD. The only complaint I have with this is that it doesn't support WPA, at least for now. It only supports 64/128 bit WEP but my network is WPA. It also support my printers function to turn on/off automatically so I don't have to remember to turn on the printer if someone on my network needs to print a document. Hopefully Belkin will have a firmware upgrade to support WPA soon. Right now I'm using it on ethernet and it works great.

Summary: Compatability Is A CRAPSHOOT!
Review: I bought this printserver together with a Belkin wireless router. I have two printers, a Cannon i900D and a brand new HP Deskjet 5740. The Cannon i900D works through the printserver. However, after about 10 hours of frustration, including 5 telephone calls with Belkin Tech Support, I was finally told (by a level 3 technician, whatever that means) "Well, I guess this printer just isn't compatible"!! The problem is, Belkin has NO IDEA what printers are compatible. Their website contains two lists - compatible printers and incompatible printers. Both are out of date. I can't find a single inkjet listed on either list that is still commercially available. Belkin tech support has no updated information on compatible models.
So does the product work? Maybe, if your printer is compatable. Problem is, noone knows if it is until after you buy the product and spend hours trying to set it up. Which, as I'm sure everyone knows, is immensely frustrating.

Summary: Horrible Wireless Product, Great Wired Product
Review: I give it 2 stars simply because it has a lot of neat features such as FTP printing, etc., but I only give it 2 stars because it is good for a wired print server, I think 1.5 stars would better suit it. As the CEO of a computer repair business, I install a lot of corporate networks, as well as home networks. I would NEVER EVER use this product in a wireless setting, as it claims it is designed for. It only supports WEP, and not WPA??? I would NEVER compromise my network, or anyone else's network just for this product! WEP was proved unsecure years ago. This is the first 802.11G product I have ever seen that doesn't support WPA. Might as well not even turn the security on if you are going to use WEP. The only thing WEP is good for is stopping your neighbor who is a computer idiot from accidently getting on your network because he has no clue what he is doing. Any 802.11G product that doesn't support WPA is not worth owning. This product, for all intensive purposes, is not a wireless print server, more like a wired print server with antennas.

Summary: Great wireless print server, but....
Review: I had this working perfectly right out of the box using a Microsoft MN-500 802.11b wireless router. Wireless printing is the cat's meow by the way. (The printer can then be put away in a cabinet for example, which really makes the house/apartment look less like an office.)

Then I took it to another house which had a D-Link 524+ 802.11b/g wireless router, and it simply would not recongnize the Belkin at all. This is obviously a D-Link issue, but can anyone tell me how to determine which wireless products will work with other wireless products BEFORE buying them?

The Belkin unit is very nice though, and recommended.

Summary: WPA incompatibility
Review: I have similar problems - I think that the printer server problem is WPA-PSK, TKIP related. I can print from both my Minolta and Epson printers with WPA-PSK disabled and the print server hardwired.
I note with interest that the printer server (F1UP001) setup offers the WPA option but the printer configuration utility does not - the available options are only security disabled, 64 bit WEP and 128 bit WEP (WinXP with SP-2 does not seem to offer WEP option for wireless any longer).
The F1UP001 printer setup programme locates the printer server only when WPA is disabled - even when hardwired. Printing is possible with WPA disabled only (at least for me)! Still waiting for a call back from the Belkin Escalation Engineers (1 week).

Any suggestions?

Summary: Works great
Review: I spent lots of time with old ethernet/parallel print servers that wouldn't quite work with GDI and other low cost printers.
I was skeptical that this would work.

I was impressed that this print server worked with an easy 5 minute guided setup on my Minolta 1250W GDI printer.
The range of the wireless (Im using B, not G) is fine (covers whole floor of large home).

This device is an excellent solution for putting 2 USB printers anywhere you want them without dealing with the 16ft limitation of USB, or having to run any ethernet or parallel wires.

(I don't have to cut and run any wires in my new home). Plus
you get added bonus of having a normal cheap ($100~) printer
become a networked printer for all to share. (and you don't
have to have the original host computer on to print, as you
would with USB.)

Summary: Easy to set up, but no firmware available yet.
Review: I wasn't sure if this print server would work since my HP Officejet 5510 was not listed as "working" or "unsupported". I followed the Quick Setup instuctions and it worked right away on my Linksys 54g WLAN. It may help that I broadcast the SSID and don't even use WEP (I have no neighbors in range of the signal). It disabled DHCP by default which is odd (and gave itself the lowest non-active IP on my LAN), but it printed a config page after installation, so I went into the browser page and set it to an IP above my DHCP scope. Next I adjusted the IP of the Belkin printer port in W2K and I was done!
I was impressed that I did the whole setup via the wireless card, but they include a CAT5 cable in the box.
Checking the Belkin website, I couldn't find a firmware update (not that I needed it). Maybe someday there will be a WPA update for people who lock down their WLAN.
This is a good wireless USB print server, I recommend it.
