Summary: One of the best I've seen
Review: When I opened the box, I said out loud: "Wow." It looks a little different than in the picture. It came with almost everything I needed to record from any source, except, for a minijack connecter. And I don't like that UTOC Error either. I haven't seen it much, or recently, but after I record a few songs and the error comes up and the songs aren't there, it gets me really ticked off. This only happens occasionally. I still gave the 702 4 stars because it's really easy to record, it has great sound, and it's at a convinient price. Simply put, this machine is one of the best I've seen.

Summary: Excellent introduction to Minidisc!
Review: This is a very nice package. The MDMS702 is light, small, and can both play and record. It also has a "Table of Contents" function so you can enter some text on a particular minidisc.

The current version of the package comes with two dubbing cables, one for the standard Left and Right output from your stereo, and another for direct optical dubbing from another minidisc player or stereo component unit.

The unit also comes with a carrying bag, headphones, and a power supply, as well as a rechargable lithium ion battery. The battery will charge in about three hours, giving play time of 6 hours and record time of four hours.

Another feature is the ability to connect a microphone for business conferences or other important meetings. You can set the device to record at a "low-resolution" level, thus doubling the 74 minute disc space. This will save you money on minidiscs if you do not need the fancier recording method, since such "hi-res" recording is better suited to music than audio memos or meetings.

This is an attractive unit, and seems to be quite sturdy. The minidiscs pop in and out like a pop tart in a toaster. Care should be used while inserting the disc, so the mechanism is not forced.

I bought this unit because it was small enough to take while walking or excercising, and had both the play and record functions.

This is the first Minidisc unit I've used extensively, I have to say I am very pleased with it. As an introduction to the Minidisc format, I doubt you could find a better deal. The package comes with everything you'll need to get started except blank minidiscs.

If you'll be using it for a memo or meeting recorder, you will have to purchase a microphone seperately.

Summary: Survive a 40 feet fall...this is an indistructable machine
Review: I'm excited and thrill to announce that your mini disc player/recorder (MD-MS702) survive the most horrific of event. As usual I enjoy listening to my favorite songs wherever I go. I wanted to do the same last weekend by taking it with me in an actual rock climb. The player fell out of my pants pocket and plummeted 40 feet into jagged limestone rock below. I assume immediately that it was damaged beyond repair, and so I didn't bother to play it on sight. But today, out of curiosity I tinker with the machine by plugging it in to the AC adapter, and to my utter amazement it works. I'm delighted and dumbfounded. The chipboard inside is bent, and the disc couldn't be ejected without pressing on the machine from the top and the bottom. The skip function works without a hitch. The only feature damaged was the recording button, but I'm content that the machine works at all. IT FELL 40 FEET DURING A ROCK CLIMB! Last but not least, a FM tuner is certainly a welcome feature to the newer model.

Summary: Some Info on the 702
Review: By now if you have gotten all the way to the bottem of thereview page your wondering if this wheather you should buy this osnot. . . My 702 has never gotten that (UTOC) error. Some great things about this MD are: 1) It comes with a Opticle digitle cable and an RCA cable 2)Headphones 3)Remote 4)Rechargeble battery and charger and a case. There is one set back. Track names. You have to press the same button over and over again and it gets to be annoying when you just put 10 songs on your mini disk. Just make sure if you buy this, buy mini disks as well. I remember i had to wait for my bday to get it and when it rolled around i didn't have any mini-disks to record on. Between this and the 722 i chose this because, on the 722 you're paying 30 bucks for a jog dial system. It's not worth it.

Summary: Better than an Mp3 player
Review: An Mp3 player can only hold a few hours of music at the most. But this minidisk player with the right adapter can hold unlimited Mp3 music with great sound. The Optical Digital Input included in this has unbelievable sound.Better than CD sound. The analog has ok sound. It takes a little time to write the name of the songs in this because this Minidisk player does not have a Jog-Dial in it.Other than that this Minidisk player is great.

P.S. It also has rechargeable batteries included in it.

Summary: Some useful things about MD702
Review: Here below I will tell all of you some useful things which willhelp your MD-702 even greater. 1. You dont have to buy the orginalcigarette lighter from, get one that compatable with panasonic, it works. 2. You can perchase the extra battery unit(it holds regular AAA). Another thing, I had this unit for over a year in the car now, and it works perfectly. Meanwhile my friend had a Sony MD-player in his car, and broke within a year. I can tell you that this little thing might not look as fancy as it is, and maybe a bit too thick, but it's great in and out(except writing names). And plus, it never skips on me, no matter I am listening at home, walking, runing, or driving. My conculsion, this MD-player worth more than you are paying for(compare to other MD-players).

Summary: A hassle to get fixed!
Review: I have had my MD player for close to a year now and I use it daily and very extrenuously. Three screws fell out (nothing big though). After about eight months it starts acting up and doesn't read any disc you put in it (even new ones). It frequenly skips, even when sitting untouched on my desk. But the sound quality is excellent, especially when I record digitally live at some concerts. It just brings a tear to my eye when listeing to the live recordings, up until the unit skips, and then doesn't find itself on the disk and turns itself off. And after all of this use the unit has become so messed up that it won't even record. I took it in a total of three times where I was lucky enough to have purchased an extended warranty on it. And after all three weeks that I waited MiniDiscless, I found out that three times cannot fix the unit and I get store credi for a new one. So I suggest if you need an MD player that can take abuse, buy something else. The 702 can't handle everyday abuse.
