Summary: Not what I expected
Review: (I'm actually 18 yrs old) This camera is just not a great leap in quaility over my PC-Cam 600 even though it is suppose to display twice the resolution of the outdated 600. The LCD is nice but the interface is not very good. The LCD functions aren't labeled on the camera and can be confusing. The quality of the photos is pretty good if the lighting and settings are dialed in. The amount of control given to the user makes this less of a point and shoot affair than the pc-cam 600. It's more like mess with settings, point, see if image looks okay, try different settings, shoot. If a first time buyer of a PC-Cam I would say it's a good camera, but if you are planning to upgrade from another PC-Cam or other dual web/digital camera then try it out first somewhere and make your decision. Also, the fact that it's a webcam AND digital camera is a plus; if a digital camera is all you want then a dedicated digital camera will probably be better. Hope this helps.

Summary: awful camera
Review: I bought this camera for the price and the features but... the quality in pictures taken were very poor included the phtos taken at maximun quality. the camera needs too much light in web cam mode. in this case Creative pc-cam 880 is awful. the controls are complicated and the cursor wheel doesn't works fine. i prefer the simplicity and easy to use controls in my hp photosmart. bye and if you buy this is under your risk

Summary: AWESOME CAMERA
Review: I jus bought ths cam frm AMAZON , at first before ordering it i did some reseach on PC cameras and stuff since it was my first camers i needed it to be atleast worth for my money , i red all the reviews abt ths camera on amazon majority of reviews were against ths product , but i crossed my fingers and ordered ths camera , wen it got to me i first i red the full manual of opeation den i installed it , WHEN I SAW THE RESULT IT WAS SIMPLY MIND BLOWING FOR ME it can take upto 17 pictures in 3.0 Mega Pixel and the clarity and sharpness is amazing even in the 800 by 600 resoultion, after seeing the result i was quite shoked at first cuz the previews i red abt it were all against ths producrt , flash works really well in bad light and if used as a webcam its worth for its price , but the pictures taken it as a DIGI CAM simpy stand out , zoom is also very good the only thing i didnt lik abt ths camera is tht its functions are a but cramped up lik if u press sum button others can be pressed at the same time result in LOL anything ,
BUT ALL IN ALL A GREAT CAMERA FOR THE FIRST TIME USERS . U can mail ur querys at devil4k@yahoo.com

Summary: Simply Disappointed
Review: It is true that this camera has a lot of features, but you would expect that the more advanced products would perform better than the old ones. I own a PC-CAM 750 that I enjoyed using a lot. When the 880 came out I bought it on July 2nd 2003. I didn't use it until I went on vacation in August, what a mistake I made. I should have tried it sooner, so I can return it quickly. As a web cam, it requires a lot of light coming from behind it, and it doesn't like fluorescent light. Taking videos indoors requires a lot of light too. I am making these comments in comparison with how the PC-CAM 750 performs, the 880 is a step down in quality in my opinion.

Summary: Great little camera for the price!
Review: My son gave me this camera for Christmas last year, and I love it! It takes great, clear pictures with amazing color detail. It will also take video clips, though I haven't used that feature but once or twice.

If you want a good quality camera for the price, I would highly recommend this one.

Summary: Great Digital Camera + Webcam for an Incredible Price!!
Review: This all new high end webcam + digital camera from Creative is truly the best product out there for anyone who is looking to get a webcam and also take pictures (like a digital camera) to share them with friends and family. It is so easy to setup and use. Initially, I just wanted to get a webcam to chat with my family overseas and then I came across this new breed of cameras called "PC-CAMs". They are dual purpose in serving as a webcam at your home PC computer and as a digital camera to snap pictures on the go!

The PC-CAM 880 was released only in June 2003 and is breakthrough in combining the features of high-end digital still cameras with the versatility of a webcam. A few reasons why I love this new little toy:

* It has a great 2.1 Megapixel CMOS Sensor (can produce pictures upto 3.0 Megapixel through software interpolation) - it sure beats any conventional auto focus camera.
* It has a built in 16 MB memory to store upto 112 images of 800x600 resolution. I can never run out of memory! I can't think of a place where I will have to shoot over 100 pictures before downloading them to my laptop! It also comes with an SD/MMC expansion slot, when you can plug in a 256MB or 1 GB card sky is the limit!
* It comes with a full color LCD display at the back (just like high end digital cameras) with a easy to control menu and a dial switch.
* It even has a video output and comes with a TV output cable to display pictures and live video on a TV or record to a VCR
* You can record live video upto 76 secs without being tied to a computer! In way it serves as a digital camcorder without the audio.
* It is so easy to setup and use as a webcam and produce great quality live video. Moving pictures from this digital camera to my Windows 2000 laptop was walk in the park.
* A whole bunch of software to help you view, play and have fun with your pictures and videos!

I recommed this camera to anyone who is starting out with digital photography just like me and needs a webcam to chat. I haven't found any other product come anywhere near this PC-CAM 880's list of features. Amazon had this product for sale in early July 2003 for an incredibly low price even before it was available in retail! Even Creative's website didn't have it in stock then and their price was its retail value. I received it the 2nd day though I opted for free shipping!

Good luck with this PC-CAM, the best ever made!

Summary: Definitely more than I expected
Review: This is my first digital camera and actually I didn't know what to expect. I had heard many users say that I shouldn't expect much of quality from a camera of that price level. However, that opinion proved false, as the PC-CAM 880 produces very good pictures when used in full resolution (around 2056x1526) AND the photo subject is still (even a walking man will appear blurry). It comes with 16MB of integrated memory, which stores 17 pictures in that resolution, but it can be upgraded with extra memory. It also features a small color LCD display that works very well and gives the camera a nice high-end feel. The TV-out function is very useful, too.

On the other hand, when used as a web-camera, it is a failure, as it only provides an adequate framerate (22fps) in 320x240 resolution. It also needs plenty of light coming from behind in order to give bright picture; otherwise my face is virtually unrecognizable.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend this camera to someone who cares more for taking photos. It will not let you down. But if you really need a good web-camera, you should look somewhere else.
