Rating: Summary: Beware Window's XP users Review: I purchased two of these cameras and am unable to use either one because both my computers use Window's XP. The software that comes with the camera DOES NOT work or even install if you are running XP. You have to go to Intel's website and purchase an upgrade CD (...). Although you can take snapshots with the standard Window's XP driver and take some video clips with the MS Movie Maker, your options are VERY limited unless you purchase the upgrade CD.Just a fair warning to help you avoid the anger and frustration I experienced when trying to install the camera. Rating: Summary: Pleasantly surprised! Review: I received the Intel Deluxe USB Camera and was pleasntly surprised on how simple it was to install. The software that came with the camera was easy to understand and very informative. I love the picutre quality of the Intel Deluxe. I am very happy with the purchase. And Amazon exceeds with their customer service.
Rating: Summary: Great buy! Review: I saw a previous rating, stating that it isn't such a good camera for windows xp/2000, not true. I am running Windows XP, and it can do anything I would need it to, it works fine, and if you want that software anyway, you don't have to BUY it, you can get it free if you have the camera, and while you wait for this unecessary software, you can be surfing the web, and doing most anything you want with it, it works fine without the stuff. And this camera works quite amazingly. quite good reselution and color with adjustable focus, makes it good enough already, not to mention that it works very well in low light conditions. And it really isn't hard to use: 1.Plug into USB port 2.Use So, I rate this camera quite exceptional for good quality and price, with much simplicity to use as most common people would.
Rating: Summary: Bad install, Bad Win2k support, otherwise nice if it works. Review: I spend days with Intel customer support to get my new cam working on Win98. I had to replace dlls and systems files! I addition I had to install some more files manually. It worked! and it was pretty good. Than I upgraded to win2k and also put the new drives provided... The cam is in the dust now. I don't have the time and the nerves to spend another week with Intel on the phone and on top of it pay them for that once more. Try something else.
Rating: Summary: Review for IntelDeluxe USB Camera Review: I was very pleased with this camera. Installation was simple and quick. Quality was excellent. Still learning all the extras I can do with this camera. I would recommend this camera to my friends and family.........do not waste your money on the cheaper versions as you wouldn't be satisfied with them and end up purchasing this one after all
Rating: Summary: No Problems Here. Review: I've had this particular model for the last 2 - 3 yrs. and had absolutely no problems with it. It was originally installed in my Windows 98 with no problems whatsoever, and compatable with our new XP. We're still using our 98, so I ordered another one today for the XP(same model). My son has the same model, and had no problems installing his either.
Rating: Summary: Lee from San Jose, CA Review: No support for Win/NT or Win2000. I can't justify to go out and buy a PC with Win95/98/Me in order to run this product; I already own 3 PCs with Win/NT or Win2000.
Rating: Summary: Intel? Review: Of all the choices out there in computer land, this web cam offered a competive price as well as great features! This web cam works well with my DSL modem and streamlining videos are a breeze!!
Rating: Summary: Not compatible with my system, but I still use it. Review: The Software wasn't compatible with my system, but I could get to the Snapshot feature through Windows Imaging (Start > Programs > Accessories > Imaging > File > Scan New), and when I took a picture, I transferred it to the imaging program, saved it, and it worked perfect. I then found out that this will also work in Fireworks, Photoshop, and most other image editing programs. It has clear pictures, and is an overall good product.
Rating: Summary: Nice camera, but does not work with 2000 Review: This cam works with Windows '95, '98 and ME, but NOT W2k. Why? Who knows. Of course, I bought this without adequate research and I have W2k. In order for it to work on W2k, it requires driver downloads and ordering a new CD--a hassle. It DOES work fine on my new laptop that came installed with ME. It produces nice, large and clear images that are easily captured and e-mailed. However, this camera does NOT work with the Yahoo Messenger. At least, I was unable to get Yahoo to recognize it. After more fiddling and researching on the internet, I discovered that this cam apparently isn't very compatible with Yahoo. Yahoo pushes Logitech's camera for a reason, I guess. I'm not saying you won't be able to get this to work on Y's messenger, but I couldn't.
