Summary: Maybe I'm missing something...
Review: 640 x 480, 30fps, 24 bit color. Sounds great! I bought the camera with the idea of using it as a long duration digital camera. (2-6 hour seminars) I didn't expect wonders, but this thing (is not imprssive)!

I finally captured in color using Fire-I software from the web, and then Windows Media Encoder. It still only captures at 7.5fps. Granted, it takes 4 shots of the same frame to make 30fps, but it's still 7.5fps (it just takes up 4 times the space.)Fire-I could capture 640x480, but WME was stuck back at 320x240. The preview seems to be 30fps, but the capture isn't.

The hardware MIGHT be OK, but the software sure isn't. I'd say it borders on false advertising. My search for decent drivers/software to make this work will continue. Without it, this thing is a waste of money.

Summary: Get one if you still can....
Review: I've been using this camera for a couple of years now, and it's fantastic. Not to take issue with the reviewer who gave it 1 star, but I used it with Flash Communication Server and was able to adjust it 50 ways from Sunday. I am sure he is right about the software problems, but with the right software, this camera is a real gem. I used a plain-vanilla IEEE 1394 Card and device driver, and then simply cranked it into a chat applicaiton using both a boom mic and a stand-alone mic for the audio.

Unfortunately, they don't make these any more, and it may be due to the software originally supplied. However, with a standard driver I got great results and still use it constantly for chats between the US and all over the world.
