Summary: ...second review , great radio
Review: ... Hi , its Vince the radioman taking a second swag at this review . I have received a lot of feedback about my review on this radio and a lot of different experiences with its performance . Taking all the comments into consideration and being asked to more closely examine the radios attributes I will say this ..... I will downgrade it by 1 star to a 4 star rating because of the sound on AM , yes , it is muffled and quite annoying at times . The radio's sound appeares to be taylored towards FM and VHF . I will still say that I get very , very good reception on AM as good and sometimes better ( comparing them side by side ) with the GE super radio , Sony SW77 and the Grundig S350 which I consider the best radios for AM DXing . The radio IS a bit heavy with no handle but to me its a desk top not a portable . The weather alert system is invaluable and the price I think is fair . Also it has great funtionality , ext AM ant. terminals , stereo mini input , separate bass and treble controls ...etc. Buy it! A must for a DXers collection.

Summary: Sound/Reception - Good; Craftsmanship - Poor
Review: Although the sound quality is good, the overall quality of the radio suffers. I have had mine for a few years now and none of the buttons work well anymore. I have to hit the power button many times to turn the radio off.

Summary: Excellent Radio
Review: For several years I have used the CC Radio. AM reception is solid and clear. From north of Seattle I can regularly listen to San Francisco (KGO) almost any night (Winter or Summer).

The 5-button presets (per band) and other control functions are basic, simple and intuitive. Battery life is very good (I'm still on my original batteries) though most use is plugged into 120v supply.

I prefer the CC to my Sangean ATS-818, which is similar but way-complex, and dies before batteries are 2/3 used.

Summary: Outstanding Radio for AM DXing / Great Sound !
Review: Hello folks its Vince the radioman . I have been a collector and radio buff for many years . I have a large collection of radios and I love to do compares . This is one of the most outstanding radios on the market today . It is a multi band radio AM/FM/VHF and Weather , with a built in weather alert system . Very valuable for the severe weather most of us experience here in the U.S . Mostly this radio is outstanding for AM DXing . It has a double screw connection for an external antenna which enables you to use both the internal ferrite loop antenna and an external antennna of your choice ( I recommend the TERK AM Advantage antenna ) . I have gotten DW and BBC world service on AM from my home here in N.Y.C. !!!!! Great stuff . The radio is very well made with a sturdy construction on the body and external control knobs . Its has a great sound with a built in 5" full range speaker and separate bass and treble controls . It fills the room easily! All bands are quite inpressive for tuning selectivity . And best of all its priced to sell . AM DXers will love this radio , no shortwave but still a fabulous addition to your collection and or for the single radio owner a totally complete and satisfying radio . Also available in Silver and Platinum ( I have the platinum edition ,very pretty) . BUY IT!!!

Summary: NOT WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE
Review: I BOUGHT THE CRANE RADIO HOPING TO PICK UP AM STATIONS ABOUT 250 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE. I ALSO BOUGHT THE EXPENSIVE ATTENNA WITH MY RADIO AND NEITHER PRODUCT WORKS AS ADVERTISED. THE RADIO SEEMS TO BE WELL MADE AND THE SOUND IS GOOD. BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RADIO TO PULL IN LONG RANGE AM STATIONS THIS RADIO IS NOT IT!

Summary: good fm better than average am
Review: I have a discontinued one that I got at half price at the Crane website last year and have been very satisfied. Much better than the GE superradio. I give it 5 for the price I paid.

Summary: Lots of features - Good reception - Fair sound quality
Review: I have the original CC Radio, which is nearly identical to this model but is no longer in production. The original CC Radio has the exact same reception characteristics as the CC Radio +. In my opinion, the reception is very good on all three bands. It receives the standard AM broadcast band, the standard FM broadcast band, TV channels 2 through 13, and several NOAA weather frequencies.

I purchased the radio for its renowned long-range AM reception. It performs quite well and has far better than average sensitivity and selectivity. Its digital tuner allows for precise tuning of desired frequencies. When coupled with a tuned loop antenna, the reception is improved even further. I use an external SELECT-A-TENNA AM loop antenna which is also available through C. Crane Co.

Its audio quality is fair. It's touted as being the best radio for human voice reproduction. I think the audio range should be wider and left up to the user to alter the tone with controls if desired. The audio does sound muffled at times on the AM band.

The CC Radio can be tuned in three ways. It has five presets per band. It also has up-down tuning keys or can be tuned with a knob that rotates.

The CC Radio has an alarm clock with a sleep timer which is very easy to set and program.

The CC Radio has a large backlit display which is very easy to read.

It's very easy on batteries, but can be operated on household current as well.

I think it is a bit pricey, but it is a well-constructed radio made to last and performs quite well.

Summary: Not happy with the CC radio Plus
Review: I have to agree with the fellow from Atlanta! The CC Radio plus doesn't sound all that great for the money you pay, and the AM sensitivity to me is no better than the GE super radios
that cost three times cheaper. Sony radios do a much better
job dealing with night time fade. the FM reception is
nothing to brag about either. I think the weather radio
should have SAME encoding for the money you pay forit.

Summary: This radio ends up being average
Review: I thought I was getting something quite different than a typical A M Radio. No improvement in reception and when it was turned on to a station, this radio was no better than a RCA at $29. Wished it was better,
