Summary: This is the best table radio deal bar none!
Review: I am a radio nut. I currently own a Tivoli PAL and a Sangean "Q Radio", among others. I enjoy the quality sound both radios produce and was looking into getting either a Tivoli Model 1 or 2 or even the new Sangean WR model when I found the Emerson NR31 on the Target web site the other day. I have to say that the styling and the price intrigued me so I investigated the Emerson further. The reviews I read told the true story. I purchased an NR31 yesterday and was so pleased with it that I purchased another one today for a family member. The sound is incredible for such a low price. Like the other reviewers said, there is no reason to spend more $ for the higher end radios when you can't tell the difference. I am sure the Emerson NR31 will be appearing under many trees this holiday season. My advise is to get one today, you will enjoy this radio for sure!

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: I cannot imagine the radio to which the other reviewers refer. I actually bought two of these things - one NR31 and one NR30 (for some reason, the mono version is 10 dollars more expensive). The FM reception on both models is identical - mediocre, at absolute best. I have much less expensive radios, including portables, that deliver a much cleaner signal. Crosstalk at the low end of the FM band is especially noticeable and, unfortunately, that is where the stations reside to which I listen (NPR, etc.). The AM reception is essentially non-existant and the radio emits a very strange sound of its own when tuned to the AM band. Also, while the radios will accept an auxillary input, such as a CD player, there is no switch to select the AUX input. If you plug something into the AUX input, it becomes active and overrides the tuner. Not handy at all if you intend to use the radio in lieu of computer speakers, obviously. It is true that these things superficially resemble the Tivoli table radios and feel fairly solid. Any similarity to the Tivoli (or the Sangean, for that matter) disappears when turned on. I am extremely sorry that I followed the advice of the other reviewers and did not spring for the higher-priced Tivoli.

Summary: I called this my multimedia radio
Review: I got this at Target because I was looking for a multipurpose unit, something that I could use as a good radio with good reception and something to hook up to my notebook and my mp3 player when I get tired of the earphones. I am surprised to have found this, much better sound than multimedia speakers, I used them with my computer and microphone to talk with msn messenger, and when not hooked up I can listen to good radio, then I can take it out and hook up my mp3 player and bam, listen to its very rich sound. Much better than the cambridge sound works radio I have and much, much cheaper. $20 dollars multimedia speakers, radio and auxiliary output for gadgets, what else can you ask for? just get an 3.5 mm audio cable jacks to connect all your gadgets and you are set.

Summary: Great Value
Review: I like the rest of the previous reviewers am extremely pleased by the great value of this radio. I came very close to dropping the $150 for the Tivoli, but happened to be at Target later in the day. I have a feeling the Tivoli has a slightly better tuner/antenae, but I'm able to pick up my 6 favorites am and fm stations. Also the ability to output mp3's to the device is great! For $20, you can barely buy cheap pc speakers. This is much better!

Summary: Great Radio For Office
Review: I was looking for a radio for my office, and I went to the local Target and found this radio. I liked the retro look (it reminded me of the radios my grandfather had on his table)! I took it to the office and everyone was commenting how cool it looked. The sound quality is good and for the price you can't beat it.

Summary: Snazzy retro radio!
Review: If you just want a great sounding radio without the annoying lights and extraneous buttons found on other shelf and table systems, this is the radio for you. It lives up to its name "Simplicity" with its elegant and simple design. The speakers are small, but the speaker housing is excellent and produces very good sound. The dial allows you to fine-tune the station of your choice.

The AUX jack allows you to plug in extra devices (such as a CD or MP3 player). I have a small radio transmitter that I hook up to my computer in another room and tune the Emerson radio the transmitter's station. The point is that even though you are buying just a radio -- you are not at all limited to just radio listening with this Emerson system.

Summary: Just Buy It!
Review: If you're like me, the LAST thing you need is ANOTHER radio..but I saw what I thought
was a Henry Kloss Model 2 radio at a retail store for $19.95. Then I saw it was this Emerson knock
off (model NR31). But turning it on, I was surprised at the rich sound, the wood cases, the nice
feel of the geared tuning dial (analog, but like the Kloss, accurate almost on the nose). I could receive
10 FM stations and 2 AMs inside the store with the built in antennas. (there are no external terminals).
AM is lo-fi mono, but doesn't sound muffled.

I bought one and opened up the back. I feared the worst, since so many electronics are junky on
the inside. I found decent construction on two circuit boards, a hefty power transformer, a VERY heavy
3 inch speaker (I didn't open the other cabinet, which only contains the right speaker)

The two separate cabinets give excellent FM stereo effect...I don't like the sound of stereo when the
speakers are 8 inches apart and phase tricks used. (I find the Bose wave radio fatigueing after about 10 minutes.)

It has an aux in jack , so I used a mini to mini cord and tried it as a PC amplified speaker. It beats my
$80 Koss speakers hands down. I also got excellent results with my XM Roadie indoors with an AC 6V adapter.

Just buy it, it's the best radio value in the world (and I am an electrical engineer working with audio and video for 25 years)

Summary: WOW!!!! AWESOME!!!!
Review: This is probably the best sound system I've ever bought. I never thought anything could be this high of quality... and for the price!

It has very good sound, good reception, big dials and a lit up display, and good bass. The best part is the audio input jack. Now I listen to my mp3 player with out the headphones. I'm amazed at how you can crank up the volume and still have great sound, especially considering how small it is. Wow!

I highly recomend this!!!

Summary: audiophile
Review: This radio is by far the best sounding table radio I have ever heard. It rivals the sound of similar radios that cost $80.00 more! The bass response is superb, the highs are crystal clear, and it has good station pulling ability on FM. The stereo separation it very good, and it has plenty of volume. The controls are simple to use, and I must say, that I recommend this radio for space-limited areas. I have an ear for good sounding and mediocre sounding radios, and this one sounds great!
