Summary: It stinks
Review: The pen does its job scanning text. The difficultly is getting teh PEN to communicate with the PC or a PDA. It is not capable of communicating wiht the PC when your PDA or PPC is hooked up. It takes several hours of rebooting the system to get it to find the PEN.

Buy the up-scale version!!

Summary: Not perfect, but it gets the job done
Review: This gadget is not very easy to use. Since I used Quicktionary (which has similar handling) before, it was much easier for me. If you are new to it and try it only a few times, you won't be able to get the best results. Technique makes all the difference here. Ideally, you should try it for a few days, patiently following the instructions. Besides that, I had previous OCR experience, meaning that after many tries to recognize pages of text using Optical Character Recognition software, I was somewhat used to reviewing and correcting many errors in it, but still preferred to do it instead of typing (many people don't). So when I get a good amount of errors to be corrected later in my computer, after the transfer, I am somewhat resigned. Do not expect miracles (not yet). But I have to tell you I am really happy with this product. I read a lot and I always felt the need to have summaries or notes from what I read. But I don't like to write, make notes or highlight sentences on my books, and I am not patient enough to write a summary after I have read it. I tried to do recorded summaries on tape, but I didn't like it either. Eventually, this is the best solution. If I like a sentence, I copy it, even if I am lying down in my bed. After reading a few pages, I download the text to my computer and, sure, I have to make a lot of corrections, but I haven't missed the main points and haven't destroyed my book. It works for me. Cons: hard to access characters to make corrections and/or type, it keeps scanning while you make corrections in text, you can't change the scanning idiom in the middle of a text (although it still reasonably recognizes other languages than the initially selected).

Summary: Throwing money away
Review: This is one of the worst gadgets (if you could call it that) I have ever bought in my life. It is totally useless. Yes, I could scan, but I have spent 5 hours trying to get it to communicate with my computer. The program does not even attempt to communicate. I am now sending it back. You would be better off throwing your money out of the window. At least someone could pick it up and use it for something worthwhile.

Summary: You get what you pay for!
Review: This will be my third warranty replacement - VERY DISATISFIED! - I bought the chaeper WIZCOM brand beacuse of that, look the same as the C pen and seem to work the same way. I was wrong, scanning [stinks] unless you go real slow... memory fills up quickly and sometimes shuts off by itself!

True what they say you get what you pay for. No wonder they are giving a rebate now, trying to get rid of thewm I guess. Get yourself a known brand C pen or Reado they are most reliable and the best.

Shipping this one back again...Grrr.!
