Summary: Finally got it
Review: I finally received my Coolscan 9000 last week. I first tried to get one almost a year ago, then cancelled, re-ordered, cancelled, then re-ordered again last Sept 2004... Amazon shipped it and it arrived in perfect confition (with U.S. warrenty).

Aside from the very long wait, it seems that the scanner lives up to the hype. I'm still experimenting with it but so far its results are excellant. It's software is solid and very straightforward (thank God, for it's usually the opposite!).

It also scans a lot faster than what I expected. I think that some of the scan times that I've read about were probably done using computers with slower processors: I can scan a 35mm slide at 2400 dpi in about 15 secs or less. If you enable ICE, it takes about twice that, and they have several other settings that I'm still experimenting with - but so far, the results are outstanding and the scan times are well within reason. (If anything, the preview is a little slow.)

Concerning digital ICE: I'm still in learning mode with it but I did scan one slide normally and noticed several dust marks. Since I didn't dust it off first this was expected, so I turned on ICE and - magically - the dust is 100 percent gone (!) It works perfect as far as I can tell. Correction and enhancement is normally a little fishy, and I haven't done a before and after comparison yet (to see if it changed the image in some negative way, or in any way..), but so far the results cannot be questioned.

My only complaint so far is that the 120 film hold doesn't hold the film flat. I guess I'll have to consider buying the overpriced glass film holder.

In all, the wait sucked, but the product seems top-notch. Good luck getting one - for those who have the patience.

Summary: Product probably is good but Amazon....?
Review: I ordered "Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED Film Scanner" back in September today is December 3, 2004 and I am still did not receive it. Looks like Amazon is playing a dirty game by attracting buyers by posting low priced product they do not have. So, if you think you will receive soon this scanner by ordering today, it will be probably just a hope. It's interesting to know, is there anybody who received this scanner from Amazon after September?

Summary: Amazon came through!
Review: I ordered my Nikon Coolscan 9000 back on June 18th. It arrived on July 13th just as the updated Amazon shipping estimate email promised. I admit I was a little skeptical when I placed the order that I would ever see it, especialy at the price Amazon had at the time - $1804.99 I checked with my contacts at B&H in New York (I order alot from them and have come to know a few of the salespeople) - they said "no way" could the price be for a legitimate USA model. In addition to being lower than B&H's cost, Amazon was giving a shipping date way ahead of when anybody else could promise. It turned out that Amazon was about a week late on their "original" shipping date, but they kept me updated and it came exactly when they said it would.
As for the scanner, it seems to me to be just about perfect. The scans are beyond belief. Nikon Scan software is a little confusing...I might give Vuescan a try. The scanner does make a bit of noise from the stepper motor during the scan process, but this appears normal. Overall, I could not be happier with my purchase. Amazon has never given me a bad experience so far and with the new Amazon credit card, I have intrest free financing for 10 months to pay for this beauty. I'm completely satisfied with my Amazon transaction!

Summary: Something's seriously wrong here...
Review: I ordered the Nikon Cool Scan 9000 in August but still haven't received it, even though as of today (December 19, 2004) Amazon's claiming 1-2 day shipment. I'm an Amazon customer from the earliest days, but because of this fiasco, I'm on the verge of filing complaints with state and federal consumer agencies.

Summary: Amazon's Lack Of Customer Relations
Review: I ordered this item on June 14th and have yet to be updated on the real shipping date. Although e-mails are said to be answered in 24 hours, I have sent three without response for days. Will Amazon ever fill this order, respond to e-mails or just cancel the order after an inordinate wait?

Summary: Amazon never delivered
Review: I ordered this product July 17th and have never received it. Threed days ago I ordered it from Adorama and it has already shipped. There is something seriously wrong with that and if I ever have a chance to order from someone else in the future, I will avoid Amazon.

Summary: Don't Expect Delivery
Review: I placed my order for this product, the only thing I received in three months was email notice of further shipment delays.

I hope Amazon removes the false promises regarding this product.

Although, Nikon film scanners are quite awesome.

Summary: Amazon deliverd when others couldn't
Review: Since most of these reviews deal primarily with the experience of trying to get the scanner, I'll add my two cents. Simply put, Amazon delivered as promised. I've looked many other places for the scanner, and I simply haven't been able to find it. I've been waiting for 4 months to hear from B&H Photo, a very reputable firm, about their stock being replenished - it hasn't happened. The largest camera store in Chicago - Helix - is out of stock, and won't even guess when they'll have it. Amazon delivered in just over 3 weeks, well within the timeframe estimated when the order was placed. Great job!!!

As for the scanner itself, I've only started using it, and the scan quality is great so far. I can only imagine what it will be like when I actually know what I'm doing.

Summary: Not Amazon's Fault
Review: The supply problem with the Nikon 9000 ED scanner isn't Amazon's fault, it's Nikon's. From what I'm told by our local professional camera shop here in Seattle and more than a dozen mail order firms I've called trying to find one of these things, Nikon announced the ED9000, shipped one demo model to each of its big dealers and that was it. Nobody has seen one since and Nikon won't say when they are going to ship.
