Summary: software crashed when move computer
Review: Great scanner at a great price. Great quality and color. Highly rated in Consumer Reports. However, their plugin for the Macintosh only works with Photoshop 5.5 or earlier right now. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

Summary: Junk and no technical support
Review: I did not have anything but troubles with this scanner. I bought it and installed the supplied drivers, the scanner did not work. I called the technical support (they don't have a toll-free number, you have to pay for it!). They said, that I have to download the driver for Windows 2000 from their web-site; why don't they supply it with the scanner, it's already end of 2001?! OK, I downloaded it, and I could scan about 5 pages at a time after which the Windows would generate an error message and tell me that I have to reinstall the software. I did it already 5 times. I e-mailed their technical support with the detailed description of the problem. The answer was: call our technical support people. To hell with it! I am going to take it back ... and buy a different scanner.

One more feature is worth mentioning: when I tried to see how it works and put a thick book into it to scan the cover with automatic size determination option, it scanned only half of the cover - so good for size determination (and the cover was all about the same color).

Summary: Inexpensive, easy, effective, fast, rich color.
Review: Somehow, when I ordered this product, I was sent two of them. Unfortunately, the first one I plugged in and used made a horrible noise and didn't work well. Obviously, it was damaged somewhere along the line. Since I already had the other one, I tried the other one and it's worked like a charm. For such an inexpensive scanner, it scans relatively fast, even at high resolutions. Comes with I-Photo Plus software, which looks similar to kid's software when looking at the screen, yet it is a quite powerful image editor. The drivers integrated themselves flawlessly into my other editors, so scanning from another program is not a problem. The USB interface is a plus because there's no switching the power on/off - it comes on and goes off automatically when you need it. The only real drawback is that pages larger than 8.5 X 11 probably won't fit on the scanner. Go ahead and get it now - you'll be glad you did. This is the most bang for the buck I've received from any computer gadget I've bought.

Summary: Works only when it wants to
Review: This item caused me many headaches. Scanner works about once out of every 50 times I try to scan. The other 49 times it states that a cable is not connected but it is. Quality of photo, when I finally got a scan was poor. I would skip this and save yourself the headaches.

Summary: Useless
Review: Well sorry to be negative, but I just purchased this scanner and found it to be almost useless. I have a very modern PC running Windows ME. Despite this the scanner was SLOW, the quality of the images it produced were rubbish, the software managed to crash more often than it worked. Unless you enjoy watching paint dry, give this one a miss. I know it seems like a bargin, but the only thing that impessed me about this product is the fact you don't need a power supply. One star is generous.
