  Summary: DOA Unit Received
Review: I can only give 1 star because I could not even get this unit to work. It was D.O.A when I received it from Amazon.com. Had to return the unit to Iogear which cost me more on shipping cost ($125) because I have to pay for shipping international both ways! I end up purchasing a $10 cheaper enclosure no-brand-name-made-in-china, but it works unlike this Iogear expensive enclosure!

Summary: Recommended add-on for Sony laptops
 Review: Pros:
  + sturdy, low-noise, low-heat aluminum construction+ excellent plug-and-play operation in Windows XP
+ excellent firewire interface using Oxford Semiconductor chip - drive spins down in standby and hibernate.
+ extra USB & PS/2 power cable included - allows powering the enclosure using USB and/or PS/2 ports that do not limit power to very low level.
 + excellent USB 2.0 connection
+ single led to indicate power (green) and activity (orange)
+ drivers for firewire and USB connection included in Windows XP
 + responsive technical support
Cons: - power led remains on when computer goes into standby or hibernate- switch and connectors on the unit may wear out with regular use
 - drive is only secured using pin connector on interface pcb - floats inside enclosure
 - requires an additional 6-pin female to 4-pin male IEEE 1394 converter plug to connect to Sony i.link ports. O.W. since 4-pin connections do not have power pins, be sure to use a good (thick) 4-4 cable.
 - user documentation not very detailed
