Review: Excellent quality. Whisper-quiet. Case does not heat up. Easy to install and you can store your big files directly onto the drive from your computer without performing the partitioning for Windows, Mac and DOS platforms. The unit came to my lab with a pre-formatted MAC OS X. It's so efficient to work on multiple projects having a storage drive like this where you can work with the programs within the drive.

Review: This is my second LaCie firewire drive, and it's a winner. I've used it for six months now, capturing video directly to it from my DV cam, editing video stored on the drive in Final Cut Pro, and storing hundreds of other files on it.

The drive is a bit noisy, but I think most external drives are. The nice thing is that the drive sleeps when it's not in use, and the motor whine dies down at that time.
