Summary: Horrible CD player, not worth it, stay far away.
Review: I bought this CD player for 100 bucks, and it was the worst thing I ever did. First of all, if the CD has a tiny scratch on it, it won't play it at all. Seacond, it uses sooooo many batteries. I think i put in batteries every other day for this worthless thing. And thirdly, the damn ESP doesn't work. When i try to run it, it makes the CD that i'm listening to very choppy, so i have to turn the ESP off to make it sound normal. If i rotate the CD while it's playing, it will skip. That's how bad it plays. It is the worst player on the market, i don't know why they would ever sell such a thing like this.

Summary: MP3 player not working
Review: I purchased two of these mp3 players. One for myself and one for my son. After one year of use neither player works anymore. I hardly ever used mine, it was kept in excellent condition and kept in a case when not in use. It was never dropped and probably had less that 25 hours of use on it. I had purchased it for road trips. I was very disappointed in this product and will think again before purchasing a TDK product. It stopped working after 1 year. My son's mp3 player did get alot of use but stopped working after 6 months. On both mp3 players it was the same problem. It has difficulty reading CD's. After 1-2 minutes of playing, it simply skips to the next song.. annoying and renders the player useless.

Summary: Can't recommend it. Great when it works. But...
Review: Want to save time? Forget the CD players and get a flash memory unit. Stay away from moving parts! Anyway, here are the gory details...

OK, I liked it at first. It did everything I wanted it to do... -- play MP3s in the car. I fact, I loved it.

But after a couple of months, I found the problems to be so annoying that I have retired it for good.

I just don't think it's a quality machine. I would not recommend it because I have to believe that, with this unit, "if it's not one thing, it's another." The particular problem I had may not occur with all of them, but it's an indication that it's not built well.

#1 problem: My unit constantly stopped playing for no apparent reason. After weeks of frustration, I found that if I squeezed it or smacked it, it would play. I finally figured out that it thinks it has opened up and, therefore, stops playing.

I dismantled the unit (what did I have to lose?) and figured out that the tiny switch -- the one that gets depressed by the protruding thing on the "lid" -- is either not working as a switch or does not get correctly depressed by the lid's switch-pokerizer. I have tried to improve the poking by gluing stuff to the poker to widen and extend it, but it hasn't worked. I think it's the switch that doesn't work...

The point is, it is unfortunate that one stupid part ruins the device. I don't have confidence that this is a well tested, well designed, well built player. Moving parts with low quality equals problems. You definitely get what you pay for.

As I said, if it played without stopping all the time, it would be just fine despite the little annoyances in its design.

Other problems...

#2 annoying problem: Audio CDs play, but none of the functions work with audio CDs. E.G., no 'stop', 'forward', 'back'. Nothing. You have to play the CD all the way through. Period.

#3 ridiculous software: What a pain naming the files. Once you spend many hours doing it, I guess it's handy.

#4 eats batteries. Get the car kit or forget it.

Summary: Doesn't play MP3 CDs burned on Win XP
Review: Extremely disappointed with the player sound quality, headphones, customer support and worst of all, it doesn't play MP3 CDs burned on Windows XP.

You'll know if you have the MP3 problem when Mojo skips every 25 seconds of a track. Hence, 25 seconds into a song, you'll hear an audible click. Every 25 seconds later, you'll hear the same click. It gets very annoying and I don't use the player anymore.

I have other better quality and cheaper CD players around the house. I bought Mojo because it was supposed to play MP3 CDs.

With regards to the MP3 issue, if you check their web site, they admit as much. It suggest that you use a 3rd party software to burn the CDs and not use XP's Windows Media Player to burn it. I used Easy CD Creator's software (which is one of the most popular burning apps) to create my MP3 CDs and it still doesn't work. I also had an older MP3 CD burned on Windows NT which also does not play on Mojo.

Hence, all I have now is a poor sound quality and overpriced CD player. TDK customer support and website did not offer any other help on the MP3 issue.

I e-mailed TDK twice about the problems but each time, I got a typical set answer which I already knew. It is as if customer support doesn't read the e-mails. I suppose a PC reads your e-mails and scans it for certain phrases like "XP", admits they know about the problem and blames it on Microsoft. Until Microsoft fixes it, it's your problem.

I bought this Mojo on the Internet and was supposed to receive rebate which never arrived. It highlights one of the problems of buying online; other than reviews online (which I read and most must have been written by TDK employees), you'll be left with taking a chance on the product if you don't try it at a store first. Note: However, Amazon.com is great for CDs and books! : )

In conclusion, with Windows XP soon to be the predominant OS in most homes, it is absolutely unforgiveable that TDK Mojo does not play MP3s burned on Win XP. Save yourself the hassle of burning CDs and get a hard-drive based MP3 jukebox player like the iPod or the Nomad. I'll also never buy anything from TDK again as their customer support is useless when there's a problem with their product.

Summary: Tempting, but don't do it!
Review: I have NEVER been so disappointed in a portable CD player (and I've owned many). No major complaints solely as an MP3 player, BUT I STRONGLY reiterate previous comments regarding skipping/stopping and short battery life in the CD mode. The sound quality was decent, but I found it to have a higher then normal "whirr" during operation. The player's overall fragility and complete lack of service at TDK is what really makes the purchase not worth it. After four months, just past the three-month warranty, the player stopped reading any CDs (the display reads OPEN). Evidently, TDK has NO authorized service centers and will not repair the product there. A friendly-but-utterly-useless customer service rep suggested I find a mom-and-pop electronics store that would repair the player, or I was "out of luck." (no large service center will touch a it, if they are not an authorized service center for the brand). Plus, the labor costs just aren't worth it.

She suggested that the player had been dropped and a piece broken from between the covers, rendering it useless. I cannot recall any accidents with the player, and a portable should possess a minimum level of durability. The rep remarked that this was a common problem with the unit.

Great price and some features, but what's the point if the product doesn't work in a few months? You shouldn't have to be "lucky" to purchase a reliable product.

Summary: ... out after ten months
Review: During it's working time, The Mojo was great. It was terrifc to have 150 songs without needing to shell out $$$ for the iPod. However, recently it stoped playing certain tracks. After investigation the problem, I found that I could only put 450MB of mp3's on a disc. Past that, the thing just doesn't play the tracks. I also found that I wasn't the only person with this problem. TDK support is a joke, so I'm stuck with a half working player.

Besides this major defect, the player really wasn't put together well. They could have done dozens of things to extend battery life. Playing standard CDs drained the batterys in one hour. You can't scan forward inside tracks and the equilizer was less than satisfactory.

Save your money and buy a player from people who know electrons, not just CD media. ...

Summary: This is the best player
Review: Why I said that. well.
Somebody used RioVolt Sp250 or others to compare. It can't be compare. TDK Mojo MP3 player was in the market since March, 2001. There was Nana (2000), Casio PZ 5000(Jan, 2001), Philips Exp103(2001), Sony D-cj01(2001) cd mp3 players. Rio Volt hadn't had a Cd mp3 player on market till fall 2001. The earliest one of RioVolt is SP100, SP90. Riovolt SP250 and SP50 I believe they were int the market after winter 2002. How could you compare the new technologies to olds? Why don't you compare 286, 386 computer to P4, AthlonXP.
TDK Mojo, at that time was a almost perfect (was a winner) player. Nana, Casio, Exp103 don't have matrix LCD display (which is no title, artist, backlight) and only have around 100 seconds anti-shock. Compare to sony D-cj01, yeah, Sony has more batteries life, I admit, but it doesn't do fast forward and backward either.
Therefore, that is not the idea to compare TDK Mojo to next or beyond generation players.
my only complain is it eats batteries too fast.

Summary: DON'T BUY IT - NO TECH SUPPORT
Review: I bought this cd player in February 2002. It was great. Nice looking, good sound, great jukebox, blablabla.

6 months after, it stopped spinning. It does not work. Suddenly. No reason at all to break down, since it had been mostly used at home, not as a portable device.

I called tech support at TDK, at 1-866-629-3893, sopke with a guy called Steve, and he not only said that there was nothing they could do, since the warranty was only for 90 days, but also added that TDK DID NOT SERVICE THIS UNIT. That I should look on the yellow pages for an electronics technician near my home!!!

He went even further! He wanted me to call their corporate office, in order to find a solution to this problem!!! Can you imagine, calling a TDK corp. office to find 1 person who could assist you with such problem??? If you can, please allow me to tell you that a corp. office of TDK could have more than 1000 employes, who would not have an idea on what to do about this subject.

So, if you want to save you money, please look for a product that has TECH SUPPORT after the warranty is expired.

TDK DOES NOT PROVIDE TECH SUPPORT FOR THIS PRODUCT.

Summary: Discman
Review: Bueno creo que lo unico que las cosas que le faltan a ese discman son, adelantar las canciones mp3 (ya que solo lo hace con los cds de musica comun), y que no gastara tantas pilas.

Summary: Amazing get the MOJO 620 CD-MP3 Digital Jukebox
Review: Be aware their are two types of TDK MOJO'S the old one simply "MOJO" and the new very much improved model "MOJO 620"
I read a lot of reviews and did major research which including buying a few models. It came down to a few models and believe me this is the best. I promise you won't be disappointed in this unit. Their are none of the issues of the other players no pause between song. No improper display of ID3 information. No problems with skipping. No missing backlight display. The buttons are placed excellently. The unit is so easy to operate its ridiculous.
This has got to be the best unit made. This is the Unit you have been searching for. It has a remote and the firmware can be upgraded. Which means if TDK comes out with new software for it you can simple upgrade the unit by Recording the file to disc and playing the upgrade firmware. Included: MOJO 620 CD-MP3 Digital Jukebox, Software Utility Disc, Headphones, AC Adapter, Remote Control, User's Manual & 2 (AA) batteries.
Anti-Shock Buffer is 8 minutes (MP3); 45 seconds (CD Audio) Displays ID3 tag information V1 (1.0, 1.1) and V2 (2.2, 2.3, 2.4)
